Breaking the baroque rules

A quick look at how I might bend the normal conventions to serve the drama at hand … Sometimes it’s good to break the rules.
This aria, “Lord to thee we sing and pray” opens the 3rd act and arrives at a huge moment of peril for Theodora - Irene is working to find the strength of faith in this moment.
