Tremendous job. For those interested, the final descending run goes like this: E string: sl20,20,20,19p17. B string: 19,20p19p17. G string: 19,17. B string: 21p20p19p17. G string: 19,17,19,16h17p16. D string 19. A string 19. That 21,20,19,17 legato luck on the B string is a bear.
The harmonic squeals are so dead on. I've been playing since 1985. I saw this vid play on Mtv for the very first time. Saw It's Not Love play for the first time, as well. I play ok, but I don't get those harmonics to perfection consistently. I'll accidentally nail one here or there. It's not that bad, but it's definitely not consistent. That was spot on.
Thanks a bunch! Those harmonics are always there to be had, but they’re never a given. We have to be merciful to ourselves when trying to replicate a studio recording in a single take. Nonetheless, the pursuit is always fun and rewarding. Take care! G 🙂👍🏻🎸
@GHGod97 Heya Steve!Always good hearing from you.Believe it or not, that second harmonic, when slowed down to 45-25% speed of the original recording, reveals two things: 1) It is distinctly attacked twice 2) The scrape of a pick attack is unquestionably present on the second attack. It is apparent when heard back-to-back in contrast to the first harmonic. George teaches this solo in a video, and wholesale misrepresents at least 60% of the solo in it.He doesn't remember it (by his own admission).
Just the other night I read a comment on the official video stating "Nobody else since George has been able to to do this solo perfectly". ... Lol. Silly. There's ALWAYS someone. Fantastic job on this, a pleasure to see.
@b717 All good. I appreciate your compliments. I feel you are quite a strong player yourself (wil listen to more of your stuff today). Heaven Sent was a labor of love for sure. I was a tad preoccupied with keeping on schedule in the IMD video (particularly the left hand trill), so the vibrato probably suffered for that. Look forward to hearing from you, George
@GHGod97 (continued). The same pitch, however, is achieved with a 14th fret tap harmonic as well. With all said and done, I appreciate your input and support. Hope the guitar shopping's going well. George
At first I thought there may be some discrepancies and can understand if you have not listened to the original in a while how you might remember it a bit different than it was actually recorded. I did an A B comparison with the original recording and gbalulis's version matched up perfectly with only one very minor discrepancy in a sustained harmonic that was induced by a feedback anomaly when the original was recorded. Also the vibrato is not bad so you may want to listen again.
Ive listened to it several times and also recently recorded and uploaded my own version. It is not an easy solo to play. He did an excellent job but its not perfect and the fast run at the end is not exact. I suppose thats why there is only one George Lynch. Sorry if you do not like constructive criticism.
Yea I know that wasnt your comment. Personally I like constructive criticism cause it helps me to improve. Dont get my wrong your a superb guitar player. I have been recently re-learning the Heaven Sent solo and let me tell you, that one you DID nail and that is way harder to me than In my Dreams. Its gonna take me a couple of months to get that one down. Gonna send you a couple of messages so check your box.
@b717 Don't mind it at all. That was not my comment you responded to. The vibrato in this one was admittedly slightly tight/nervous. Felt your version was well played.
Killed it. You did it better than he did on his instructional tape. Just wish you had done it slowly.....there are a few notes I never have figured out.
+George Balulis Hi George. Great job on In My Dreams. On that major 3rd in the final descending run, I have always seen it transcribed being played on the 16th fret of the E string. I feel it is played on the 21st of the B. What do you think? Greg
not a burning question that needs an answer, but if you're up to answer me I'd appreciate it. What the neck profile like on these, If its something that sounds like my type I might look into the LTD version of one of these
Why did no one care George ripped off Beat it? One of my favourite players and I know him and Ed were good friends but man that intro has always almost felt like a shot at Eddie ahaha
so far the closest i've heard to the original. good job!
Tremendous job. For those interested, the final descending run goes like this: E string: sl20,20,20,19p17. B string: 19,20p19p17. G string: 19,17. B string: 21p20p19p17. G string: 19,17,19,16h17p16. D string 19. A string 19. That 21,20,19,17 legato luck on the B string is a bear.
Is it hard to play
Sounds AMAZING!!!
Thank you so much!
Take care!

I've lost count to how many times I've came back to this video. Perfect. Just, Perfect.
Lynch was the best guitarist from the 80s. End of story dude was amazing band never got the credit They deserved
His style was captivating/ mystifying to me as a young player. I agree that he never got his full due.
Well done -- those harmonics at the beginning are briliant. Love the squeel

Awesome job
Dude fucking nailed the harmonics and bends
Thanks, man! 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻

@lauriemonk Hi Laurie! Thank you very much. I always appreciate your support and enthusiasm.
Thanks for the solo. That takes away a lot of stress from work here in Japan.
Zakk Ingram glad to hear that. 👍🏻

Excellent! Nailed it! 👍
One of the best solos of george lynch and you nailed dude! Awesome!
very good !!
@GHGod97 No apology is necessary, Steve. I applaud your objectivity and tactfulness.
Happy New Year!

Both were derived from Allan Holdsworth's solo on the 1973 Tempest song "Dark House"
kamiaze!!! awesome!

Hey man, could you cover the Beast from the East version? He played some extra stuff there, and it was very cool!
Heya Keith!
Appreciate you reaching out. I will definitely give that version a few listens and consider it.
Take care!
😎👍🏻🎸

Sweet guitar.
Well done, the trademark? That's why Lynch's uo there with EVH and Yngwie,oh i forgot Michael Schenker on the way, ouppppps!

Lynch *IS a FUCKING AMAZING player!
TheTacticalRedneck actually he’s a freakin guitar magician
Nice
Have u ever met george lynch? If so you should make a video telling us the story😂❤
I totally have. Will upload this month.
Great idea, Tori. Thanks!

@saultman My man, thank you.
Fuckin Sweet! Good Job! Sounds absolutely identicle

Wow! nice sounds too like Joejis cutter guitar sound!
Do you know Satuma 3042?
He is japanese grate guiterist.
Very nice 👍 you nailed it perfectly

Thank you. Tell me what time in the video it is. I may hav a practice clip on my phone I can send you.
Again, thanks!

Hi George. Great job on In My Dreams. On that major 3rd in the final descending run, I have always seen it transcribed being played on the 16th fret of the E string. I feel it is played on the 21st of the B. What do you think?
Greg
@gbalulis nice job..what pedals/amp are you using? I like the Lunch sound but I cannot get it...I even use the screamin demon pickup...
You play it better than George himself
Wow! Thanks for sharing that.
Take care!
🙂🎸
G
What is your sound you are using? Sounds just like the original Great work man keep on shreddin to George he’s the man
Thats cool :)
not a burning question that needs an answer, but if you're up to answer me I'd appreciate it. What the neck profile like on these, If its something that sounds like my type I might look into the LTD version of one of these
Can u teach us how to do pinch harmonics?
Coming tonight, per your request. Thanks for the engagement!
Killer Job Dude! You have some MAD SKILLZZ! Do you still have all of your Axe's? Take It Easy.... \m/
Is ur fav guitarist george lynch?
For many years, yes.
Nice, same
Excellent! You're a true fan of George if you are willing to pay $5000 for an ESP Kamikazi
Thanks!
Fortunately, that guitar cost far less back in ‘97. Also had an employee discount. 🙂
Tale care!
G
Not bad, now all you need is about 5 stacks behind you to play in a tiny little Texas bar just like George.
I thought you ripped that one, killer man
Lesson please ?
what key is this solo in?
A. Usually the first note in the song is the key
Couldn't you tap the part at 0:20
You could, but George Lynch plays it by stretching. Because screw us with small hands
Yeah just tap it if you cant reach lol
Too clean, doesnt sound the same
close to original as posible
Good job!! Your vibrato does need some work and the solo sounds a bit rushed but its almost there!!!!
Why did no one care George ripped off Beat it? One of my favourite players and I know him and Ed were good friends but man that intro has always almost felt like a shot at Eddie ahaha
There’s no denying the similarity. Never really thought about it until reading your comment. Good point.
Thanks for watching! 🙂🎸
@jyejye1077 ive got a guitar world magazine story from 2004 that has a quote from George where he flat out says he took some stuff from evh
Sounds just like the record
"Definitive". 😂
Nice job!
😀🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
