The problem with this shared cinematic universe is that everything has to be set up for what’s coming up next, instead of putting its own characters and story first. It’s been quite disappointing as a comic movie fan for a few years now.
MCU fan here: You did a good job reviewing this. MCU fans are asking for better. I had to see it first before I commented. Y’all are not wrong. It did get me really excited for Creed 3.

This movie has multiple scenes that rip off star wars. They literally rip off portions of New Hope including the cantina scene.

If you have ever seen the original Star Wars trilogy and then watch this movie, it's clear what scenes are ripped off.
This is not a good Marvel movie, but its a good MCU version of Star Wars.

I hear you & your review. I plan to check this flick out once it hits Disney + maybe. I used to love these movies. I enjoyed Wanda Vision, Loki & Moon Knight series on Disney +. But I'm tired of the same thing over and over. However, a lot of this is actually closely following the original comic books. I think the films & TV series have overly saturated the audience. I think they might fare better if the slowed their roll. 🤷🏻♀️

I'm what could be referred to as a "casual Marvel fan". I saw this movie because I fell in love with Jonathon Majors when I watched Lovecraft Country, he's such a fabulous actor and handsome. (And also Paul Rudd was very funny in the first Ant Man).
I do get tired of the "formula" as mentioned in your review, but I highly enjoyed the visual spectacle of this movie. Thanks for your honest review!

The only thing I didn't love about this review is that I always wish it were longer. Always love your reviews! I really needed to vent about this film as well. The only thing that propped it up for me was Jonathan Majors' performance. Michelle Pfeiffer was great just made me remember I will need to watch Batman Returns again.

Being married to an MCU dork, the only insight I can give is that sometimes the only reason for a movie is to open the door to the next world. In other words, they used Ant-Man to set up future movies with Kang being the new main villain, and to bring Loki back. At least I think so. This is the one spoiler my husband wouldn't watch because he hasn't seen the movie, so I can't ask him if I'm right.😄
This movie felt like Star Wars The Phantom Menace mixed with a Spy Kids movie.... not a compliment....

Ok haven’t seen the movie yet but based on the thumbnail I have a feeling this is going to be a scathing review.
I think the orb is a rare resource that cannot be replicated. That's why he needs it to be shrunk down to size to get out of quantum realm
First off, they had to drink the Kool aid to understand what was being said 😂 "Kang" slang for King, ha! Kang and the quantum realm is all Darth Vader and Star Wars, as said, are they saying Star Wars takes place in the quantum realm 🤔 The sexual innuendos were just...😂 I thought of TMNT with that big head dude as well , Brain 🧠 Old dude serving coffee was a very Stan Lee stand in, they always seem to have one in these movies. They gave Ant Man a Spider Man shout out partly due to that Spider Man movie where the different versions of Spider Man all meet up. This movie was about Ant Man going within himself to heal his inner self which is an ongoing theme hence why he's questioning himself at the end, something just doesn't feel right- much like the ending of Krampus. Great points as usual 💯
In conclusion, Michelle looks fab 🌟

Janet Pym was talking about the Microverse where they were. It's kind of a world within the quantum realm. The Multiverse is the greater universe that the "outside" Earth's 616 universe is part of.
She was talking about the connection between the three levels of "verse." Maybe.

I feel like this movie and more of the marvel movies are made for people who watch the series. I went into the post credit scenes knowing Tom and Owen had to show up because of how Loki ended. Which makes the movies now way more predictable.

This was so enjoyable, everything Joseph didn't know, had me going "oh?!" - same here! When Nick said Cassie *wasn't* The Wasp's child I was like, wow! that too! 😏So, this story doesn't budge much from first narrative - except for the colorful Vilain! 😒
I just got back from watching this and I had mixed feelings. I've never seen the first 2 ant man movies either. Imo Disney/Marvel has too much out. With the first phase it wasn't so bloated. You have to watch the shows on Disney+ in order to understand the importance of the events that are happening in the movies. I don't have Disney+ and tbh I don't wanna watch several different things in order to follow along with a movie. I wanted Kang to win cuz I love Johnathan Majors. Kang was my favorite part of this.

Fun fact: Ant-Man has never been a big/popular Marvel character(whether graphic novel or film) like say, Spidey or Thor. So, you(Nick) are reacting how the average Marvel fan feels about the character in the main. Now, I get why you aren't a fan of the genre(action/sci fi/fantasy), but don't assume we fans of it aren't sophisticated either. I(as a general Marvel fan) can also enjoy Interstellar (2014), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (2000) The Machinist (2004), Masaan (2015) and the Attack on Titan animated series ALL equally as well.
