It's not even the most difficult game in the series, both Super ESB and Super ROTJ are harder than the first one. I beat it as a kid, but never the other two.
Honestly I never played this as a kid. I didn't play until a couple of years ago when I got it on my ps4 and its definitely pretty challenging but thanks to save states I was able to beat it but I eventually want to get the snes cartridge and try playing it that way. Great video! Just subscribed to your channel
Thanks for the sub. I started playing it in cartridge form and moved over to use save states once I realized how hard it was going to get lol. Thanks for watching!
I've "no death'ed" this game before. Granted it was on Easy mode though lol. I tried my hardest not to die because I didn't want to lose the plasma blaster. If you lose the plasma, you might as well pack it in on certain stages like the escape from Mos Easley. I found the other two easier because of the double jump, and password system.
@@frankbizzoco1954 I’m sure I could have gotten there as a kid. I used to be able to no death run Ninja Gaiden back in the day, just don’t have the patience any longer lol. Thanks for watching!
This wasn’t that hard once you played it enough. Empire Strikes Back was the hardest for me, with Return of the Jedi being second hardest. Still love playing these games!
If I had a nickel for everyone that said this game wasn’t that hard I’d have like 50 cents. 😂 I’m kidding, but starting to feel like I need to get better at video games. Thanks for watching.
@ Hey no worries! I didn’t beat it in an afternoon. It took me many tries over weeks to finally get good enough. Glad you did get to enjoy it and hope you do get around to the other two games!
I have played this game in ‘93 without any save states (it was on the snes, so no memory card and this game didn’t have save codes). Every day it was just one try to find out how far i could go. Its a amazing game. I have finished this game a lot of times (brave difficulty) and its still my go to game if i really want to enjoy video games. Modern games have more possibilities but lacking soul. I wonder if this game will ever be remastered.
I keep hearing how tough this game was. It was a challenge, sure, and some of the platforming was frustrating, but I actually played through the entire game the first day I played it. I seem to remember the SESB game being a bit harder, but I finished that one as well. SROTJ was (in my opinion) the easiest game of the three, but that final escape from the Death Star is BRUTAL.
@@jeremytheloner thanks for watching! I’m getting a lot of comment along the same lines. Think I might jump into Empire sooner rather than later and take a lot of this advice with me :)
@overwhelmed-gamer If you can beat Super Ghouls and Ghosts then you can beat super Star Wars. They are both similar difficult levels, Star Wars is probably slightly easier.
if you take your time they are not actually that hard nearly every enemy drops life refills so yo9u can pretty mush just creep through the level, the only one i never finished on sith difficulty was ROTJ but that was just because of the time limit to escape the deathstar final level
@@overwhelmed-gamer brace yourself then :) ! I still play these games to this day, i have an original console and a 27inch Sony cathodic TV. I can beat ANH (not easily but its doable) But ESB ? Get ready for mental pain, this game is brutal. Sincerely, you can at least get one cheat on for all 3 games, and its the (keep current weapon cheat) so at least if you die, you restart with the strongest weapon. Otherwise all 3 games are not even fun to play by todays standard unless you like suffering :) Good luck !
@@longann7560 Agreed, I think the loosing your weapon is what made the game so hard. If I was able to keep that I feel like it would have been a much easier time.
I love it but must confess to using the cheats occasionally. I could never understand why the Stormtroopers drop from the top of the screen? Why don’t they just come onto the screen normally like all the other enemies?
yea, I ended up using save states to get through this one. Maybe I could have done it with more practice, but my old age is making me less patient. lol
No. It wasn’t even difficult as long as you took your time in the platforming levels. I’ve never understood why people claim this and Return were difficult games. ROTJ was more of the same, although the vehicle levels were slightly more difficult. Empire though…..now THAT game was difficult as hell. THAT game deserves its reputation.
This is a great game, but it requires many deaths to memorize everything, much like Ninja Gaiden did. Finally beatung it is rewarding and makes your efforts worthwhile.
Not remotely close to being the hardest SNES game. It’s arguably not the hardest game in the series. 12 year old me beat this game in a weekend. It’s challenging but doable with practice.
@I should mention that my comments are based on how it was back in the day. Sounds like you’re about my age so reflexes aren’t what they were. If I picked it up now I probably couldn’t get past level 1.
I’ve gotten that a couple times now. May have to go and revisit that one at some point. Ghost and Goblins for the NES I remember first hand being brutal.

and nothing was harder than the NES version of this game
Empire is hardest.
The double jump made sequels easier in terms of mechanics but they were sooooo hard
@@chicodalianis8004 That is one I need to get in the collection. Have not yet played it either.

LOL. I beat this game handily as a pre-teen but tried it on an emulator last year and could not pass the first level! HAHAH
😂 right. I thought the first level was manageable. But the rest is where it got difficult for me. Still a great game though.
Not even close. The hardest game on the SNES is easily Super Ghouls and Ghost.
I actually finished Super Ghouls & Ghost via the cartridge back in the day. But yes it was definitely NES hard
Completed that as well last level of flashback my god that was the one for me

I agree 👍
@@greenmachine5487 your going to make me play through this again 😂

Yes, memorization is needed to “get good” at this one for sure. I’m just old and not sure I have the patience. 😂. Thanks for watching!
