Dutch Ynehtam i have one in my yard thats a rose color and silver two tone with 328k miles, runs and drives beautifully but it seems people junk them only because of rust, the things will run forever but the frame and body go all the time
I dunno, the GMT-800 vehicles have incredible longevity unmatched by even the GMT-400 vehicles. Unless we talk about rust...then the playing field levels somewhat.
I absolutely love this generation of GM trucks. I don't know if its because my dad had a 95 silverado growing up, so I might be a little biased. But, in my opinion, this is still one of the best generations of GM trucks ever. Honestly, I would choose this over something new.
You are not biased and are exactly right! They are the best looking trucks around. It’s the simple and clean sheet metal design that does it. I was a kid when these were new. I remember wanting one as my dream car back then. I also remember waiting for the redesign 99 model with anticipation and ultimately was very disappointed. They never looked as good as this generation since!
And to see nearly ALL veihcles were equipped with the auto seatbelts....God....bloody things looked like they wanted to choke everyone that were in the driver's seat! 😳😳😳
People always make dumb comments like this. First of all, if you think ALL new trucks these days cost $90,000 then you're incredibly naive. A brand new well equipped truck can easily be found for $35 - $50k. Bare models even cheaper. Second, $26,000 in 1992 is equal to $47,580 in 2019.

Had a '93 like this one for four or five years, except it was white. Also am SLE. Got pretty damn good gas mileage after replacing a ton of parts (intake manifold gasket, tune-up, etc.) Original A/C with R-12 refrigerant still worked too. Comfortable as hell, reliable and would eat up all the highway miles I could ever throw at it (I drove from CO to TX and back a lot). Weather didn't matter. It would always start without fail. Loved it so much I put in a fancy Kenwood stereo, 5 channel amp and all Infinity speakers/woofers just to enjoy the driving experience that much more. I put about 80k miles on it within that time, and sold it with 350k to a guy who used it to tow his boat. Being a former auto tech, I've owned many vehicles, and miss very few.. This was one of the few that I do actually miss. Still miss that damn GMC to this very day.. if GM ever had a magnum opus, this era of truck/SUV was it.
These things had anything but "solid" build quality. The build quality was absolute garbage, but the platform proved to be pretty reliable and cheap to maintain.
@@campbell0162 I own a 97 Yukon that I really like. Very solid, rugged platform, but you can't pretend the build quality is any good. It's a GM at the end of the day. Designed, manufactured, and assembled as cheaply as possible. The 4L60E was complete garbage, and the 10 bolt rear end wasn't exactly known for durability either. Need I remind you of the govbomb? Far from built like tank.

I was making $15/h and I paid for the truck with a check with money that I had saved up working 2 jobs. I had that truck for 12yrs and put over 350k km on it, no major repairs needed. It was still running when I sold it to a friend that wanted to use it for hauling wood to his cabin and going off road. Those trucks then were near bullet proof.
I'm old enough to remember when ya could buy most every brand new American brand of car, pickup, van for *well under* $10K!! In the early-mid '70's most were still only $5K & less (some...like an AMC Hornet for example, were approx. $2100.00-$2200.00 in '72 & my mother paid $4200.00 for a brand new Firebird Formula 350 in '74)...but by '80 they were all creeping closer to the $8-10K range...which they *quickly* reached & then surpassed within only another approx. 4-5 yrs.

It got 15mpg, which is horrific. The current, bigger 4-door Yukon averages 19mpg. And no, not everyone wants the greatest and latest. Some people want classics that offer value. Some want something that offers a specific utility that other vehicles no longer provide. That’s understandable. You just want an old, raggedy SUV that was below average even back when it was made. It’s your right. Want what you want. I used to want a 98 Jimmy and drove one back in the mid-2000s. I drove it because I couldn’t afford a new one. It was no better than a 2003 Jimmy. True, but also from GM’s standpoint a 2 door full size SUV wouldn’t sell nearly as much as a midsize “sporty” crossover. GM is in the business of making money just like most other major corporations. The best thing to do is appreciate the old stuff like the GMT-400 platform and hope that consumer taste shifts soon.
Im sure the new Blazer will only last 3 maybe 4 years at most and then it will be removed from the market. I have heard that a GMC Jimmy will be coming back on the Colorado platform.

Back when GM actually cared about the design and engineering of their trucks. From these years, all the way up through 07(regardless of frame or configuration), these trucks were all easy to work on, fun to mod, and took on offroad trails like nobodys business. Which is why these trucks are the only trucks ill buy.
Finally... a retro video talking and showing my amazing classic truck! I have a 94 GMC Yukon 2 door same color as the one on this video in and out. 5.7 V8 TBI engine / 4x4 / Z71 off road package / square dash / 158,000 Miles and still going strong. My truck was built in Janesville WI This Yukon just got the classic auto tag a few months back here in texas. Great video! 👍🏻💯
45 more hp and roughly 30 more lb ft of torque, and better fuel economy. I’ve had both and the vortec was definitely a noticeable difference. These tbi 350s also had throttle body issues
Ugh. I would kill for one of these with a 5 speed and the 6.5 diesel or even just the later Vortec 350. Good looking, tough, just civilized enough to be a DD. Love these things.
Arguably one of the best looking SUVs of all time. The shape of this model is the archetype of what a real SUV should be. Would love a 2-door Tahoe Z71 of this model year. 👌

I got one of these parked out front. It's a 1995 Yukon SL with 318,000 miles on it and still running strong. Barely leaks anything and still looks clean under the hood.
I had a 1993 Blazer that was essentially a twin to this truck. It was used as a prop vehicle in the film "The Fighter". Great vehicle, my dad bought it from me and still owns it with 300k. GM should've kept calling the full size 2 door a Blazer after '94, maybe even using it for a sport package on the Tahoe. It applies so much better to vehicles like this.
I would like to drive that and blare Bob Seger's 'Like a Rock.' Yeah I know that was for Chevy, same difference. Seger don't care either. It's better than, "We are Professional Grade" ..whatever the Hell that is supposed to mean. You are a rebadged Chevy, GMC..get over yourself. Sweet Yukon.
We run the original U-matic or Beta tape through a Bright Eyes SDI to Digital converter, then into a Black Magic monitor to be recorded on to an SD Card. After its captured I slap it together in Final Cut and spit it out in 1080p at 60fps.

You can also get a diesel engine for these starting in 1994 I don't know if it was exclusive to the 2 door or if it was offered on the four door as well
I used to have one of these beauties. Paid $3,000 for it. That thing would go through anything, even 2 feet of snow at 4am on unplowed roads. sold it because gas prices 😡
An old friend of mine bought one of these from an older gentleman with only 30k kilometres on it and it was incredibly clean, not a single cosmetic imperfection, not even weather blemishes!
this is my favorite generation gm truck, dont care if its the tbi series engines or the vortec they both kick ass amd even the 6.5 turbo diesel models with some kinks worked out kick ass too... had a 1/2 ton 5 speed with a 6.5 and with all the mods too cooling like duramax fan swap etc and new injection pump etc ( all the musts that made them flop from factory ) it would get 28mpg highway empty and 24mpg loaded with a 6500lb trailer
@blackandgold51 o yeah the detroits were definatly ahead of the olds diesel but the olds diesel was rushed into production causing alot of missed issues. later models werent that bad but by then thier rep was out the window
The oil burner was the best engine option for Tahoe, Yukon, and suburban, until GM got greedy with the DuramaxV8 diesel, which they won't make optional for the Cadillac escalade, and now the escalade is over 120k , all it gets as an option is a cheap I/6 that's not even a real Duramax engine.
Who was buying the Ramcharger in 1992? The design looked ancient back then. It was already over 10 years old and little different from the ones they made in the mid-1970s.
I can only imagine going back in time driving one of those. Getting up early in the morning to go to your job or maybe even your favorite hunting spot. Turning on the radio and Bob Seger comes on the radio playing like a rock. Or Alabama with 40 hour work week comes on. And you have nothing but pride in your soul. What a privilege it would have been to live in America in that time.
Fucken love this styling my dad had a brow two tone surburban. There are so many option for this truck you can make it a lowrider,muscle truck,dub car,offroad truck,raper truck,bullet proof truck and so on
I still Remember going to a GMC dealer in California to custom order a ‘93 as our first family vehicle as a newlywed. We ski’d and fished all through the Sierras back then.I brought home the build sheet to show the wife and was turned down because of the lack of a 4 door capability. We didn’t need a behemoth like the Suburban. Ended up with an Explorer Eddie Bauer instead. Still sad to this day. I really loved the design and capabilities of that GMC.
I don't have any experience with the GM version. But with every Bronco that had a removable top, it never quite went back on right. At best it became a source of unending squeaks. At worst, regular leaks.

My husband has a black 1993 GMC Yukon SLE 4x4 he's had it for 17 years with no problems all original parts with 240000 miles he loves it.
I still got one no problems at all

My mom still drives her GMT400 Tahoe that we bought new everyday. Original engine and trans, no rebuilds. These things are bulletproof.

5.7 V8 TBI engine / 4x4 / Z71 off road package / square dash / 158,000 Miles and still going strong.

I daily a 97 Tahoe version of this truck to this day. 153k and still going strong. One of the best trucks ever produced in my opinion.👌🏽

When things were being done RIGHT! Loved the GM GMT400 platform and I still see these and pickups often. The Yukon GT was always one that I wanted.
210 hp...Was so much better in 96 when the vortec was introduced!!
These older 350s never suffered from the piston slap fiasco, though.
45 more hp and roughly 30 more lb ft of torque, and better fuel economy. I’ve had both and the vortec was definitely a noticeable difference. These tbi 350s also had throttle body issues
Those tbi's were anemic

I got one of these parked out front. It's a 1995 Yukon SL with 318,000 miles on it and still running strong. Barely leaks anything and still looks clean under the hood.

I have a 1999 Tahoe LS still going. These trucks were undoubtably some of the best trucks GM ever made.

I had a 1993 Blazer that was essentially a twin to this truck. It was used as a prop vehicle in the film "The Fighter". Great vehicle, my dad bought it from me and still owns it with 300k. GM should've kept calling the full size 2 door a Blazer after '94, maybe even using it for a sport package on the Tahoe. It applies so much better to vehicles like this.

We run the original U-matic or Beta tape through a Bright Eyes SDI to Digital converter, then into a Black Magic monitor to be recorded on to an SD Card. After its captured I slap it together in Final Cut and spit it out in 1080p at 60fps.

An old friend of mine bought one of these from an older gentleman with only 30k kilometres on it and it was incredibly clean, not a single cosmetic imperfection, not even weather blemishes!

this is my favorite generation gm truck, dont care if its the tbi series engines or the vortec they both kick ass amd even the 6.5 turbo diesel models with some kinks worked out kick ass too... had a 1/2 ton 5 speed with a 6.5 and with all the mods too cooling like duramax fan swap etc and new injection pump etc ( all the musts that made them flop from factory ) it would get 28mpg highway empty and 24mpg loaded with a 6500lb trailer
@blackandgold51 o yeah the detroits were definatly ahead of the olds diesel but the olds diesel was rushed into production causing alot of missed issues. later models werent that bad but by then thier rep was out the window
That’s a great looking, real, SUV.
The oil burner was the best engine option for Tahoe, Yukon, and suburban, until GM got greedy with the DuramaxV8 diesel, which they won't make optional for the Cadillac escalade, and now the escalade is over 120k , all it gets as an option is a cheap I/6 that's not even a real Duramax engine.

Who was buying the Ramcharger in 1992? The design looked ancient back then. It was already over 10 years old and little different from the ones they made in the mid-1970s.
I owned the Blazer version. Loved it.
I can only imagine going back in time driving one of those. Getting up early in the morning to go to your job or maybe even your favorite hunting spot. Turning on the radio and Bob Seger comes on the radio playing like a rock. Or Alabama with 40 hour work week comes on. And you have nothing but pride in your soul. What a privilege it would have been to live in America in that time.
Fucken love this styling my dad had a brow two tone surburban. There are so many option for this truck you can make it a lowrider,muscle truck,dub car,offroad truck,raper truck,bullet proof truck and so on

I still Remember going to a GMC dealer in California to custom order a ‘93 as our first family vehicle as a newlywed. We ski’d and fished all through the Sierras back then.I brought home the build sheet to show the wife and was turned down because of the lack of a 4 door capability. We didn’t need a behemoth like the Suburban. Ended up with an Explorer Eddie Bauer instead. Still sad to this day. I really loved the design and capabilities of that GMC.
My dad had one just like it. Beautiful suv. Enjoyed riding in it. Miss it sometimes.

Yes. Pretty much only the 9C1 variants would pull to ~4800.
It was the lousy swirl port heads. That being said, for the time, these were pretty powerful trucks.

I get why they engineered a solid body but the removable top aspect of the prior generation was missed!
I don't have any experience with the GM version. But with every Bronco that had a removable top, it never quite went back on right. At best it became a source of unending squeaks. At worst, regular leaks.
