- Pouring concrete in winter has many challenges but when the trucks are late and the mud is hot and you are short on guys it can be a real pain. We managed to pull it off though, check it out.
As a former bricklayer, I have to admit that what I know bout pouring/finishing would fit comfortably inside a thimble. But, I do see a few things worth noting. 1. You, as well as Ryan at Victory Outdoor Services, Have a calm yet commanding demeanor. 2. Your crews are talented and professional. (IE, they show up every day on time and aren't drunk or high. These days that's huge, as I'm sure you know all too well. For what it's worth to you, es muay bueno senor! Be blessed Jesus Rules!
Thank you for the kind comments sir. It means a lot.
Do the concrete trucks add water in site (according to what you tell them). Or is water added to the mix at the factory?
You lost a bad friend and got a new connection.
Keep up the good work, I love watching your videos and learning from them.
Thanks David. I sure did.
Even though you had issues with getting mix on time and the power screed dying you and your guys persisted, no complaining and got the job done! Nice job!
Looks reLLY GOOD. I can’t believe you were able to do concrete in Feb!
Thanks it was awesome. Pouring another one of these tomorrow and Wednesday. Colder though. LOL
Looks good. Nice to get a little extra income during the winter months. Smart to always bring your own guys.
Bringing more guys tomorrow and Wednesday and we are wheel borrowing it. LOL
I never liked hot stiff mud. Flash set is a fear. But a good crew makes up for the late mud.
@@bondobuilt386 that is not a wheelbarrow.....that is a GREEDbarrow......you are wheeling dollar bills into your pocket instead of into the pocket of the pump rental company 😂🤣😅😁🤠
I have a 2013 F-250 and your dash and gauges match mine exactly, so yeah, I was captivated.
Love my Fords. 😀
Nice work always good when you have a good crew of guys . It’s going to be a winter to remember I guess .
Ya we just did 40 more yards today at the same job. Gonna be an interesting video. LOL
I am glad your working just for the videos! Thanks
You bet. 😀
I'm in Wichita Kansas and the slab houses are booming here. Thanks for the video
Your welcome Donnie
Yup that’s the new way. Quick and easy and cheap. Here in Phoenix AZ slabs is all we’ve done since the 1950s.
You work thru the issues with a level head, knowing there likely will be issues and deal with them accordingly and without any yelling because you're frustrated. And you problem solve very well! Great videos, great work, keep it going!
Thanks Bill we poured 40 yards today at the same job. was way worse than the last job there. 3 degrees when I got there. Crazy day. LOL
Hey buddy it’s Kurt from deer camp, unreal weather. It all started with our hot weather deer hunt in November in Missouri. Take care. Send me shirt!
Hi Kurt. yes it has been a crazy warm year. I cant wait to get back hunting next November. Hope ititss colder next year buddy.
Trailer pumps are awesome if you have a good operator. Its very rare that dragging the hose is actually troublesome. They leave way less mess than a boom pump, and usually cost us 600-700 bucks a pour. huge trailer fans here in virginia
We did 40 yards today at the same job with the conveyer and wheel Barrows.
T shirt weather here in Van Nuys, Ca it's 56 degree's and I'm wearing layers.
Great work as always.
Nice 😀
Great job sir. Hat's off to the crew. Diligent detailed work, old school stuff.
Thanks Todd😀
Congratulations on getting those other pours and making that connection, Bondo! That could be a good thing.
That sun sure was shining when you first got on the trowel machine.
Glad y’all got it down.
Great video too.
Thank you
Joe
Thanks Joe. We will be back there tomorrow morning. Not as nice outside though. LOL
@@bondobuilt386 🥶😳
great way to head into the end of a Monday.....see some hard working men make a little extra money in the off season, have a few issues, work through them, and make a new business connection
Thanks it all turned out good in the end. 😀
Bondo, on the power screed, drop the bowl on the carb. Clean outall the rust, crust and water. Put fresh gas in the now.3mpty tank and that should help.
We did clean the carb but I think the motor is tired on both them.
Thanks Bondo! Love your vids! 👍🏻
Hey Bondo. Can you believe 60 degrees in CNY in February. Saw you in my neighborhood. Great work as always.
Awesome thank you for watching. This weather is crazy. LOL
Another great finished product! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, very informative for us CNY folks planning future builds.
Thanks. Glad I am getting some locals watching our channel as well as others that are farther away.
Another exciting video - and thanks. Just an observation of the radiant tube: it looks like there is not nearly enough. Their boiler will be pushing heat really hard to keep the slab warm. We just did an 860ft2 slab with 1300 lin ft of tube - about 6" spacing. There was no tube installed under the interior wall plates or under cabinets, so the amount of heat transferred is going to be substantial, and we can use a smaller boiler. We also used the 4.25" HeatSheets and they are fantastic. Cheers guys!
I questioned where he left tubing out but I guess he super insulates these Townhouses. He has built a bunch and he said they heat amazing. We always run 1 foot of tubing per square foot of space. We run it at 1 foot spacing and have done hundreds of them. They work amazing. Yours will work real good as well I am sure. I don't think I could be competitive with that much insulation. We run 2" foam board and I can buy it for less than $45 a sheet.
I will have to admit I was a little nervous with accelerant hot water and an hour trip .But like always you and your guys pull off another beautiful pour.Great job men
Thank you 😀
Yall sure do a great job!!
Thank you 😀
Good work! 👍🏽
Cheers from WI!
I always enjoy watching your videos. You and those who work with you are very talented and do amazing work. 😊
Thank you for the comments and watching.
good job i have a basement coming up 70 years old and hope i still have one more in me, had to come out of retirement to do my own cant afford the high priced workers, any more when i got started i got 3.50 a hour and i was the owner ugg
What kind of basement you doing buddy? I suggest ICF. Easy for a DIY application in my opinion.
Looking good Bondo! Brings back memories ! We did a lot of townhouses in the past ! We would pour the slab first then after the garages were framed we would pour usually in a 6 unit building 2 garages a day but we also prepped all of them also ! So pour 2 in the mornings and prep 2 in the afternoon ! No pumps ,wheeled everything for the slabs ! Back the truck up for the garages ! FUN TIMES !
Awesome. We are wheeling the rest of them. The pump ended up costing the builder $1800 and now we are bringing the Brentwoods. LOL
I will be there tomorrow and Wednesday.
Nice work. I hope your other pours for this builder go well.
Looks really good bondo. You guys done a good job for being back in the corner like you were, Shit happens but you know what to do thank you so much for the video
Thanks for watching and commenting 😀
always about the wire mesh.. lol.. one thing I don't like about the radiant heat though is if something breaks.. so hard to fix. keep up the fun cheers.
10% ethanol gas is your problem with your power screed . It's hydroscopic take the water out of your little machine and the Jerry can, and fill them with 91 octane non-ethanol and when storing long time, Ryan machines bone dry, or keep them topped off. Ethanol traps a water from Air and water is heavier than gas, so if your machine does have water come that will be the first thing that picks up. And the motor on your power trial, wouldn't be shaking so bad, causing ripples in your cement if you took the Briggs and scrap-em engine off and replace it with a honda engine. Awesome show
I only run ethanol free gas. All my power trowels have Honda engines and I have 4 of them. Thanks for the comment and for watching our videos. 😀
another fine job Bondo Man !!!!
Thanks Steve. 😃
2 percent late trucks and a tight slump can get you in trouble really quick but yall made it happen....
Yes it can suck when things are going like that.
Back when I use to pour a lot of concrete i always hated the winter pours that calcium and hot water kicks faster then expected!! The job looked good tho 👊🏽
Thanks and yes it can be a pain.
Great content. Thanks ..🇨🇦
You bet George. 😀
Awesome job
You guys must feel like your on holiday having a boomer for an easy acess job this size. Ray
Ya but it cost $1800 so the builder said we will not use it for the rest. WE did 40 more there today with the conveyer and wheel Barrows. LOL
yes absolutely, who wouldn't like you guys!
Thats what I say. LOL
Hey Bondo, only about an hour and a half from you in NY. I’m usually riding sleds myself, but not this winter. Figures Big Biscuit gets a different winter job and you end up getting work. Crazy winter!
You said lay out any comments to help, so here’s one.. try not to repeat yourself so many times. I do the same thing and always gotta tell myself “you already said that lol” so I feel ya, just some advice. Love your videos!
Thanks I always realize it after I upload them. LOL
I like the constructive criticism so I can get better at this. There is a learning curve to all this. 👍👊
you did a good job and you got more work
Yes and that is awesome.
VERY NICE work well done I wish you could be doing the concrete for my home. 👍
Thanks I wish I could help everybody.
Good crew can turn a sows ear into a silk purse. Anther good job with good results!
I like that one. LOL
hectic! :D . good rebound Bondo!
Thanks and yes it was a small struggle. LOL
nice job again, plus more contract work=winners
Thanks and yes it does. 😀

Thanks. 👊
The hunting in FLORIDA is extremely expensive! Hunting leases are crazy and the deer are not very big. Don't move to FL when you retire to hunt.. lol
Ya I would move west if I was gonna move. LOL
Morning everyone
😀Morning.
For all of that, it came out great.
Thanks 😀
Surfside beach sc. 68 degrees . But you don't want to pour in july or August here! Nice job.
No I a sure we would not. To hot for this northern boy. LOL
Hey Bondo! My names Ross Rashford, I’m only about an hour from you guys. If you ever run into issues and need an extra hand let me know. My father and I run our own small concrete/masonry business as well in the Utica area.
Thats awesome. You guys have a lot of work in the Utica area buddy??
We haven’t been doing anything lately but spring time looks like it’ll be busy for sure! Hopefully it continues throughout the summer lol
Honey …. Hurry. Bondo just uploaded another one. Don’t forget the popcorn!
Ya uncle Jim don't forget the popcorn. 😀👊👍
I am always amazed how quickly you can finish the slab. I thought it would take longer to set up.
This one went real quick for this time of year.
nice job on that wire
Thanks.
Wire police patrol checking in. UMM did not see anyone pulling the wire up because the tubing was tied to it. So in effect there is no wire or rebar to reinforce that concrete.
We had fibers in there for the reinforcement.
Wire under tubing is a waste of money. Nobody around here does that anymore. Tubing never pops up with the plastic clips we use.
I just ordered a tubing stapler. We did not prep this one though. We are going to staple tubing to foam and put wire on top of the tubing
Looks great!! I could use you here in Tennessee I have 130yrd to pour.
I would love that if you were closer. LOL
Bondo the eccentric on your screed is hard on small engines. Hard on them
Ya I think so. lol
2% in that weather made that concrete flash a lot faster than it would have in the cold
For sure it did.
186 👍 BB thank you for sharing 😅
Thanks Scott
I did concrete floors before power screeds and pumpers came along for 15 years It's a hard job. I would blow elephants 5 cents a herd before I'd do concrete work again.
LMAO thats funny you must hate concrete.
Do you use ethanol FREE GAS in your power tools? It costs a little more but the rubber gaskets and needle valves don't get gummed up, causing the carbs to need rebuilding. You have to ask around to find a station that sells it.
I do use ethanol free gas. Yes I agree.
Ron, have you ever considered the electric screeder like the screed demon? Heck, they might even sponsor ya !
I would like them to give me one to use. LOL
long time watcher....first time commenter.........nice job, especially under the circumstances. question; is air entrainment pretty much standard now for your climate zone?
I put low air in just about everything except a basement floor because that will never have a chance to freeze. Higher air in stuff outside. Now that you broke the ice I want to hear more from you 😀. LOL
@@bondobuilt386 will do!
Need to get the motorised screed repaired before the next pour.
Not gonna happen. We pour tomorrow morning. LOL
@@bondobuilt386 Ah well the screed board it is then.
Turned out great! Question: when you have the wire mesh, and the heating tubing tied to it, do you worry about pulling it up, or does it stay in the bottom of the pad?
we do not pull it up when tubing is tied to it. the tubing will get damaged when we cut the slab or they build the interior walls.
Always getting it done under diverse conditions.
You should have seen us today at that same job. It was 3 degrees we poured 40 yards and everything fought us but we won. LOL
@@bondobuilt386 I do outdoor construction and pour some concrete and it's tough sometimes. Sometimes it makes you question your life choices 😂
@3:30 Sorry, but your truck is not all setup. You still need to set the time on the radio and GPS. It would drive my OCD crazy. At the beginning on the video (@0:40) you were saying it was 6:40am, but your radio was showing 5:15am and your GPS (11:48a).
Nice truck by the way and keep up the good work!
Thanks 😀
I won't bother commenting . I'm sure you know what I would say .
You just did. LOL 🤣😁
When one door closes
Another opens
For sure. 😀
You did real good considering the truck was that late as that slump looked pretty rough. Weather here is like yours. Unseasonably warm with only a couple of days of snow compared to last year, it came in at the first of November and didn't leave till March. I've got a gas screeder and am thinking of a battery one. What do you think of a battery run screeder?
I have not tried one but I would like to try it. We been pulling a lot of them old school by hand lately.
We are having unusual warmer weather in Wisconsin but I like it lol. Do you use gas with ethanol in that engine? It's a big no no in small engines.
No ethanol here. I know better. 👍 I like it too. LOL
@@bondobuilt386When I shut my engine down I turn off the gas and let it run until it dies so I get all the gas out of the carburetor.
If lived closer, I would help ya.
Thanks 😀
Good deal....
Thanks.
I have question. I remember my dad using a jitters bug to push the gravel down and to bring the cream to the top. What year did they go out of style? Why don't you use them any more?
I am not sure when they went out of style. I only used one once and it was like 20 years ago.
Time for a cordless power screed
I think they should give me one to show on the channel. LOL
Honestly it looks like there's times where you guys are knee boarding the edges, where a walking trowel would be faster & do just as good of a job and not be as hard on your bodies. Just my .02
We get more pressure down on sliders with this tight mud.
👍commented
Thanks John.
looks like the power screed has a weed whacker engine
It actually does. LOL
Bondo I have a question along the edge is there. I've seen was that Styrofoam on the walls up against the block vertically. And then you had your Styrofoam on the bottomwith your wire mesh and encourse your water. The star phone up against the block. I take it that styrofoam Is lower than the block and how much concrete is actually on The Wire mesh up to the top of the block there on the edges? You're covering the Styrofoam that's vertical, right? So how much concrete are you putting up again? And on top of the vertical star from inch two inch what is it
I am having trouble understanding what you are asking here. Read your comment and you will understand. Re send it and I will try to answer it bud.
Can't keep your muscles loose on a snowmobile!
LOL you haven't rode with me. 😁
What do you usually get for finished height variance? I build pole barns in Wisconsin, alot of what we do ends on on a floating slab or frost wall. We have seen at best 3/4 And and worst 3 or so inches.
We shoot for perfect. LOL We get it real close with the laser level. 1/4" ish.
That would be a dream to build on. There's work around here if you want a change of scenery. I'm sure the framers who build after you love the work you do!
They do love our work. Thanks. @@dirtbike662
Im in hvac, contractors here in Arkansas try to get us to work almost free but alot of jobs is it the same with concrete?
Have you ever used auto level concrete.
Snowmobile? What’s that? And we thought last year sucked 😡😡
I got 300 miles and that is terrible for me.
Where's the mesh???
You did say to give you some crap about it. lol
Love it. LOL🤣
Biskit!
He will be on tomorrows pour.
Where's your dog??????😢
He is home. To cold for the little guy.
Layout of tubing looks a bit erratic!
We just showed up to pour and it was done.
You cannot pull the rebar. You have tubing in the floor. 😊
We are going to start stapling the tubing to the foam and put the wire over the tubing so we can pull it up 👍
@@bondobuilt386 okay. I didn't see anything wrong with what you are doing.
We staple tubing down then put the mesh on top of the tubing. No need to pull the wire. It's held up about 3/4 inch off the bottom when you do it like that
Bondo where is the foam detail on that slab I don't see it on the outside or inside of the block
You can see it super clear just as the video starts.
so, why was the first truck late?
He was lost. LOL
