Travesty of a band. That guitarist is a gunslinger guitarist for hire, none of the character of Martin Barre. How is Anderson not embarrassed by all this?! It’s so sad. I love Tull, but not in the 2000s.
I agree Also I don’t understand how Ian Anderson support these poor members, none of them represent the Jethro Tull legacy and the style , why Ian Anderson is doing the ridiculous whit these guys , why he fired M Barre A Giddings D Perry ? Only for his ego ?
Absolutely garbage, why are people turning out to see this drivel! Tull fans want to keep cherished memories of when they were one of the best live acts in the world, not this rubbish
@@Brian-qg8dg These guys rocked ? , you don’t know anything about good music , for you whatever garbage of rocked you appreciate , poor gay are you, enjoy these mediocres guitarist, drummer and keyboardist and the bassist is nothing special . Ian Anderson has lost all Shame .
The instruments sound amazing but sadly Ian just doesn't have the voice anymore. That's gotta be frustrating for the guy, it is what it is we all get old and fall apart. Like someone said maybe they need to change the key so it's not so hard for him to sing or something idk.
So the question is how would you feel about a full time singer to replace Ian? Maybe Ian could sing a few songs in his current range and leave the remaining songs to the other singer? Foreigner got a replacement singer and he is awesome. Lou Graham just physically can't tour anymore. But the new version of the band rocks. What do you all think?
When they were making the under wrap album is when is problems began, I read somewhere that they wanted him to take a year off to rest his vocal chords, but he kept on and the damage kept piling on an on until we have what we have today. Anyway this was an article I read years ago, whose knows what's what anymore.
@@locomotivebreath2831 personally I think it's also ok to just hang it up and call it quits and let the band just retire.. Like is there even any other remaining actual semi original members it in? To often they just keep dragging on. I am not up to date on their current material either but 99% of the time bands that are this many years in don't really release anymore interesting new music that anyone seems to care about anymore and their main driving fan base is dead or dying off with maybe a few new fans added here or there but nothing to sustain them. So like earlier in a bands career if they need to replace someone and everyone is good with it go ahead, but now just retire the who band and call it quits my opinion with no disrespect meant.
I'm not sure a lower key is the answer...it seems like his voice has lost all flexibility...the timing is off too. Maybe that's related but he seems to have some voice damage
@@GuaranteedEtern Well like I said it's sad but maybe it's time to have a farewell tour and retire the band. Not sure if there are any other remaining members and I get he loves what he does but you gotta know when to call it a day. Like someone else said maybe they could get a full-time singer and he could just play all the instrumental parts he plays and maybe since a song or 2 but like in my opinion why. Just do the farewell tour and go enjoy retirement lol.
Oh. My God. The sound is off here, it's really disrespectful to Ian's infinite talent. The drums and guitar are way too loud and way too FAST at times. Ian is the leader, even now. He should lead, and at his own pace! ...and the band should follow. I love you. ❤
Got to agree....unfortunately this isn't Jethro Tull....it's an aged Ian Anderson with a backing band. I get that they have to change the music to suit his voice with COPD but it just isn't right
He has COPD which affects his lungs! Maybe if the Eagles paid him for Hotel California he wouldn’t have to work! That doesn’t change the fact that Tull is the best most original progressive band ever. They used to blow the roof off!
@@tonystephens6858 Some similarities have been noticed between "We Used to Know" and "Hotel California." I think its blown out of proportion myself; they're not very close.
Wait a minute, what is Ian Anderson trying to sing? I do remember this song from 50 years ago but it was different then and much better ... The original line up of Martin Barre, Clive Bunker and Glenn Cornick (plus Ian Anderson) was great. Eh, nostalgia ...
As much as I love Ian Anderson’s work and personality, that vocal performance was pitiful. 😭Unless this was a particularly bad day at work, they should really pull the plug now. A younger vocalist might work if Ian hangs around on flute (obviously!), on lower key backing vocals and as overall showman and conductor tying it all together on stage.
@@locomotivebreath2831 Sad to hear that. I guess he could sing newer material more adapted to his current voice. Sadly Ian Gillan has the same problem, but has wisely chosen not to sing the more challenging songs from the past (Child in time, obviously…) Still it’s sad to hear him when he occasionally have bad days on stage. Saw him perform on Oct 2 last year and to my great delight he nailed it that night. That said, what is Glenn Hughes made of? He ages like fine wine…😊
This was hard to watch. Not only has Ian totally lost his voice, I could barely hear the flute. The guitarist was absolutely horrible, just on a different galaxy entirely from the great Martin Barre. This is not the Jethro Tull I grew up with, it's a pale shade of that amazing band. Maybe Ian should consider retiring at this point. He's a well established music legend, he doesn't need or deserve this.
At least he doesnt lip sync, but why not get another vocalist in. He can still play guitar, flute and be master of ceremonies. It would make for a better show.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head, man. I mean, Ian Anderson will turn 76 years of age shortly and has given hundreds if not thousands of concerts throughout his life. I go out visiting the shows of the great rock veterans out of respect and gratefulness - and not because I want to experience their best ever show sonically. Therefore I can't stand people who constantly complain about the quality of Ian's voice. All douchebags, stay at home and spare us your small-minded comments!
@@andreasturner6164 To each their own. Money is getting harder to come by for me. I saw Jethro Tull and or Ian Anderson over 20 times over the years. I use to think Ian Anderson was a perfectionist. His music over the less decade or two is far from perfect. I will not pay money to support or be loyal to him. I think Axl Rose had a fantastic voice and GNR music was great. I will not pay money to go hear Axl Rose perform today. I would pay to see Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones. A person could have respected Mohamed Ali as the greatest fighter of all time. But if he continued to box when he could barely walk, function, or move, would just be sad. Liking Jethro Tull for what they once were is respectable. Adoring Ian Anderson for his present contribution is pathetic. You are free to do as you wish. If Ian Anderson was a Football or Basketball star, no team would have him. He is like a washed up athlete that bought his own team and instead of acquiring new talent to compete he puts has beens on the field to get their clock cleaned by every other team on the field. If his ear for music is so bad that he cannot recognize that his voice is horrendous, what does that say about his other music decisions? He is the one in charge. Oh and it has nothing to do with Martin Barre being gone. Martin's band is also pathetic. These guys should have hung it up years ago or at the minimum gotten a lead singer.
@@Depression2010 All these complaints are just beyond me. If you don't like the current performances of Jethro Tull and other veteran bands, just stay away from them. Don't spend money for tickets and don't watch youtube videos posted by fans. We, the fans, take those live offerings for what they are: Precious memories of 70's rock heydays which are long gone. By the way: I like JT's new album "Rök Flöte" quite a bit. But the same applies here: Digest and appreciate it or leave it. Your choice.
@@andreasturner6164 My opinion is worth just as much as yours. I haven't listened to JT for a long time because Ian has discouraged me as a fan by bastardizing his own music. The other day I was listening to some great music from another band and figured I would take a walk down memory lane and watch some vintage JT from a concert I was at. I enjoyed the concert and then figured I would listen to something current to see if I had snubbed JT and was wrong. Look at the comments. Everybody says Ian's voice is shot and he should hang it up. I responded to you saying, "his voice is still great." That is laughable at best.
Martin Barre has more soul in one finger than this wannabe guitar player has in his whole body. Ian’s vocal problems aside, the rest of the band is completely lifeless.
Painful to listen to, sadly. And I’m a fan 😢. I wish some of these singers could let their ego drop for a minute and realise how awful it is. Still brilliant on the flute as always. I’ll stick to re-runs of Bursting Out and the concert video from that era. Magical stuff.
Ian doesn't need the money. I am a 50+ year fan. I love tull. This is hard to watch. Just stay home and enjoy your grandkids. When he did the thick as a brick 2 tour he had a young fellow take most of the vocals perhaps that's what he should do now if he's not going to retire. Because he just can't sing. I mean no disrespect I absolutely love him sooner or later we all have to retire
I can't watch and listen to this for too long because he lost his voice a few years ago. That is terrible for Ian. I have nearly all Jethro Tull records btw.
I absolutely LOVE Ian Anderson❤. I’ll listen to him anytime, and I do. (I’m 66 years old)

She did Locomotive breath. So, yeah, I made a lot of noise. Whoops and all. She came over to talk with me but a biker cauct her attention. I hope she has had a great life. I'm kind of sure she has. She had her parents at the shows.
Why????
This is just so difficult to watch. Why do our heroes from back in the day feel like they still need to go on when they obviously can't.
It’s quite difficult to go from a life of performing to just living normally.
Locomotive Lunch
Travesty of a band. That guitarist is a gunslinger guitarist for hire, none of the character of Martin Barre. How is Anderson not embarrassed by all this?! It’s so sad. I love Tull, but not in the 2000s.
I agree Also I don’t understand how Ian Anderson support these poor members, none of them represent the Jethro Tull legacy and the style , why Ian Anderson is doing the ridiculous whit these guys , why he fired M Barre A Giddings D Perry ?
Only for his ego ?
He may be related to Jeffrey Hammond.
Absolutely garbage, why are people turning out to see this drivel! Tull fans want to keep cherished memories of when they were one of the best live acts in the world, not this rubbish
I was at the Greek Thester in L.A. last night, 9/27/23. They may not be like the originals, but these guys rocked.
@@Brian-qg8dg
These guys rocked ? , you don’t know anything about good music , for you whatever garbage of rocked you appreciate , poor gay are you, enjoy these mediocres guitarist, drummer and keyboardist and the bassist is nothing special .
It´s sad when there´s nobody who tells you it´s over...
Shhhh
Like watching a swan die. 🥲
This is sad...so sad...
Why? An old musician who still has fun.
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die
Oh.
I get that they have to change the music to suit his voice with COPD but it just isn't right
Dejen a ese señor tranquilo
Está haciendo el ridiculo no te das cuenta y poniendo el nombre de Jethro Tull en la mierda .
He has COPD which affects his lungs! Maybe if the Eagles paid him for Hotel California he wouldn’t have to work! That doesn’t change the fact that Tull is the best most original progressive band ever. They used to blow the roof off!
He actually doesn't have COPD. He said more recently that he was mis-diagnosed.
Why should the Eagles pay him for Hotel California? Am I missing something?
This is my favorite band but I stopped going 8 years ago because I felt he was doing his career a dis-service by still singing....
@@arnefl5549 Everyone gets old...Ian can still play the flute like no one else but I can no longer spend $ on this band
Also missing Martin barre
@@stukawarner4051 True. Not the easiest man to replace.
Audio mix for this video is pitiful....not doing band or Tull justice!!!
Jon Anderson still has it but not his prog brother Ian...
um.. no. I saw him 15yrs ago and he was fumbling.
He sounds like popeye
He needs more spinach 😊
His voice is still wonderful but it's different from the original score. It doesn't bother me. The sound is off though.
Ouch..
I do miss all the hair, the codpiece, the maniacal eyes and the "lame-brain antics and the jumping in the air."
😎😅😂🤣
At least he doesnt lip sync, but why not get another vocalist in. He can still play guitar, flute and be master of ceremonies. It would make for a better show.
well nobody gets younger but his voice is still great
I think not.
That could be said of Steven Tyler not Ian Anderson or Axl Rose.
👀😳
Painful to listen to, sadly. And I’m a fan 😢. I wish some of these singers could let their ego drop for a minute and realise how awful it is.
Still brilliant on the flute as always.
I’ll stick to re-runs of Bursting Out and the concert video from that era. Magical stuff.
He is Pan ☝🏻😉
No Martin Barre, No Jethro tull! Ians voice is really embarrassing anyway. So this isn't Jehro Tull anyway
Sounds like someone getting in to a hot bath
Ian doesn't need the money. I am a 50+ year fan. I love tull. This is hard to watch. Just stay home and enjoy your grandkids. When he did the thick as a brick 2 tour he had a young fellow take most of the vocals perhaps that's what he should do now if he's not going to retire. Because he just can't sing. I mean no disrespect I absolutely love him sooner or later we all have to retire
This was sad.
I can't watch and listen to this for too long because he lost his voice a few years ago. That is terrible for Ian. I have nearly all Jethro Tull records btw.
The best Jethro Tull lineup is IAN ANDERSON, MARTIN BARRE CLIVE BUNKER GLEN CORNIC and JOHN EVANS
. This is horrible to listen to.
My god 😮this is a dreadful vocal performance- Tull should have called it a day when Martin Barre left a few years ago

Came on to see if I should get tickets in Los Angeles. I'll pass. The man needs to retire.
That's hardly on you to decide.
