I have a question for you, Do you play chord shapes, scales, arpeggios etc. of standard tuning in the altered tuning? like the names of notes in standard tuning in altered tuning or you learn the new shapes, notes, scales etc in the new tuning.
kiba vlood i am maybe late, but better late than never you don’t have to learn the shapes, you have to learn how the scale is created : for example the (f# dorian scale) is composed of (F# G# A B C# D# E F#) you have to use these notes on you fingerboard (so first you need to know where all the notes are on your fingerboard), and adapt it to your tuning I don’t know if it’s the right way to compose something, but that’s how I would do it (i’m currently learning how to find my notes on my fingerboard). and if i am wrong or you think differently, tell me !
@@gaetanfonte9563 More or less yes. But i think of it in intervals, like "ok im looking at my middle finger playing a minor 7th note in this chord and i want to add a 4th...where can i get a 4th from a minor 7th, ah, here, over here *adds the extra 4th onto the chord*" But i only learned how to access the intervals in the first place by knowing how a scale is formed, so, yea
Can i use this guitar for standard tuning?, i am just wondering if this guitar good for standard tuning?, i really fell in love with this guitar actually but is it okay if i stay for standard tuning? Can anyone give me an answer about my question?, i'm thinking about using this guitar for non trem for standard tuning... Thank you.
Maybe a bit late to reply, but use whatever guitar and tuning you like! The choice of guitar shouldn't be a problem, but the main thing would be using the right gauge of strings to give you the best tension and playability for your desired tuning (and for standard, that'd probably be 9 or 10 gauge, maybe 8 of you have an especially light touch).
can this gtr. that comes out of the box tuned to drop c be tuned to standard or e flat with out any "set-up" changes or ANYother adjutments at all ?? any help / info. greatly appreciated.
thanks for the help( prog.metalist,& knightsword) I HAVE changed my mind~ 1 the 7string , &a few other small reasons, will be checking out some of the new models 2017.thanks for reaching back anyway/Peace\ Jay.
He's just a riff machine. Always looking forward to his lessons.
I love how you can hear so much black metal influence in his playing.
Tuned in Blargh minor
Man, I love Norway Jose. Some great riffing in that song.
"The tuning that inspired an entire album" . Mark is super cool
I started to play around in Open D Minor. I've never been so inspired to write music this hard in many years.
Wow, awesome tuning! Love the sound of it.
I've been playing in Open B and Open C for probably 15 years. I can't imagine ever playing in standard again.
I have a question for you,

Same😂

How fət are you?
Opeth used that minor add9 tuning (but a step up in D) for their Ghost Reveries album. Very cool.
Dude those riffs sent me to the darkest forest on Earth
1:17 is not evil when you turn off the distorsion, is just “jazzy” creates expectation atmosphere
Huh, this is one of my fave alt tunings. Didn't know Mark used it. I took the Dmadd9 that Opeth used and tuned it down.
This is from another planet. Brilliant mind, keep making music forever dude
Mark "dark and evil" holcomb
I love his tone.
Such a beautiful guitar
I pick up my guitar then he does Norway Jose part after the intro. Then I put it down for a while.
I'll be sure to be "usuing" these a lot...
something tells me they may have fired the editor after that lol
+Roger Wright they'd be retarded if he got fired for that. It's guitar world not apple..
Anybody know a website that has Drop G tuning they use for Reptile? Or basically you can type in whatever tuning you want and it will have it?
They basically use D Standard but with the lowest string dropped to G. Basically drop G on a 7 string but cutting out the 6th string
gtbd website
my hero!
I use 12-80 on my Les Paul for this tuning it’s my new favorite
Awesome man I'll definitely be using this tuning a lot more often !
Opeth did a similar tuning on the Ghost Reveries album, only a step higher.
keep the Holcomb columns coming GW
One tuning that inspired many songs for me is B E B F# A D. Its a tuning I came up with
Black metal...could be changed to sound like another genre...defiantly is black metal sounding to me....
"Most tough part" Great music=Death of basic grammar
Was that first tuning the tuning opeth used on ghost reveries.. sounded very opethy
he should have a Jackson Rhoads guitar with corpse paint, playing on a mountain in Sweden singing about the dark mother....that would be swell.
What would this tunning be on a 7 string?
Wow that’s cool
Crazy man!
anyone know what the intro song is
I think it is Omega on their Juggernaut: Omega album.
the most black metal tuning i have ever heard

Polog lo No rules. Go for it.

C-G-C-Eb-G-D
Which tuning is he using
Norway Jose tuning = Open Cmadd9
Otherwise known as 'How to immediately sound like Katatonia'
What is that opening song
Matoy Galleposo Omega from Mark’s band Periphery
Mark needs to make a black metal album
What is the opoening song guys?
Omega
omega by periphery
I prefer FAGDAD tuning😎
Good black metal tuning
"It sounds like" ... mud... can guitar world invest in an Axe fx 2 or BIAS that goes through a DI to DAW when recording these videos?
They are using an axe FX but it almost feels like Paul Riario tones
Man I wish Mark played it on a clean channel with a little bit of reverb may be.
The figure 3 reminds me opeth
+kbleskate maybe dirge for november ?!
kbleskate is The same tunning of Ghost Reveries Álbum...but in C
Mark always says “voicings” And it makes me think of princess bride. “You keep using that word, I do not think you know what it means”
Akerfeldt approves

wouldn't recommenced it, it's probably possible though
its a 25.5 in scale length so Id look into that before proceeding
It should be fine unless the string gauge is higher than 10-52 or something close to that.
thanks for the help( prog.metalist,& knightsword) I HAVE changed my mind~ 1 the 7string , &a few other small reasons, will be checking out some of the new models 2017.thanks for reaching back anyway/Peace\ Jay.
sounds like he was listening to opeth A LOT
Ghost Reveries Tuning 🤔
some one tell me how to tune to open b.
I'm in drop b now. what do I need to change?
Look up Cmadd9 and transpose the notes a half step down. C'mon man use your brain.
My chord theory!!!!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Don’t implore me dude!!
CGCEbGD
Did you really have to focus on his crotch whilst he talked about open tunings?
C G C Eb G D
bathory t shirt
GW needs some better editors 🤣 instead of using in the intro, it's usuing lol
WutFace
Feels like I'm hearing someone who just picked up guitar.
