    Over tamping seems to be a thing on my work setup. We have a Rocket and a Niche grinder all set up and dosed properly. If I over tamp it definitely doesn't flow properly. A firm but fair tamp produces a beautiful espresso. Not saying thats what you had here but its what weve found on our setup

      You need a consistent tamp, don't vary it. Just tamp until the puck is compressed and stops moving, you don't need 10kg of force, you just need consistency

    After having the Arte 885 for 3 weeks, 18 grams is not realistic in the 51 mm portafilter, you will need a basket screen if you try that, depending on the bean try 11-14 g... also the steam wand has to purge steam to drop the temp to reset to make your shot, can take over a minute, I shut the machine off & it restarts for the pour.

      Regularly use around 16.5g to 18g with an open basket. Grinder is important. With a nice grinder 18g is no issue with open basket. Very happy with results using Baratza Encore. Spent more on the grinder that the Dedica! Nice little cheat is to move to steam for around 4 seconds prior to shot to increase shot temp.

      So it is like a mid level ish machine. I have one and love it. So as far as the beans go. The darker roast beans tend to be oily. The lighter not so much. Also another thing to add. The Arabica beans are higher quality than the robusto beans and less oily too. The Arabica beans are also more expensive

    Is the boiler made of STAINLESS STEEL?
    Is 15 Bar enough pressure? Is MORE PRESSURE - better?
    Do you need a HIGHER pressure to brew a FINE GRIND than a COARSE one? Shouldn't you be able to make a LONG BREW with ANY GRIND of coffee?

    • @benjaminmartinisefjr8730
      @benjaminmartinisefjr8730 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don’t know if you’ve figured it out by now but, no more pressure is not better. To make good espresso you’d want to be in the 9bar area. and the machine although stated on the box does not produce 15bars. When it all comes to it it is the resistance of the coffee puck/basket that determines the pressure. The 15bars stated are simply the max the pump can prudence if the machine is absolutely clogged up but normally you will get around 10-12.5 bars out of this machine depending on the grind size, tamping and the basket you use

    • @alinaqirizvi1441

    Another failed attempt to make a small and affordable espresso machine. You held the machine down when putting the portafiller on. Placing the portafiller should not make then entire machine slide. Either find a better attachment to the kitchen countertop or make a heavier appliance at the base.

    • @ecscoffeeinc
      @ecscoffeeinc  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This happens with brand new semi automatic espresso machines sometimes! The gasket in the group head will loosen with use and time (usually around the 1-2 week mark) and then becomes much much smoother to insert :)

      @@saravezelaj941 have you ever owned such machine or you're just rambling like a toddler based on what you see?
      I've owned both. They're both such entry level that the quality really comes down to the portafilter and essentially the grinder's value.
      Now, if you review a machine based on its weight or aspect ratio, I'd suggest putting a sandbag on top of it. That way your review of a machine will actually be focused on the components doing the work.
