I absolutely loved working on these machines, you literally limited by the cuts, colours if the wood and the bansaw cuts and glued back together, the preparation was always the hardest part for me because I never knew what the finished bowl, vase was going to look like....very important to keep you tools sharp and the grades of sandpaper from 15 to 0...then I used bee's wax for the Finnish...each thing you make is 1 of 1 , that , while spinning was messing with my eye's a bit....
FANTASTIC WORK, MAYBE IT WAS YOU I SEEN WITH THE MANY GLUED COLOURING PENCILS WHICH AGAIN WAS A BEAUTIFUL FINNISH....
Some nights you just need to watch someone chizzle away on a circus pumpkin
So true 🤣
"chizzle" I dig it.
I was reluctant to click this video because YT algorithm is going to flood my feed with 40 million wood turning videos for the next 3 months for watching one wood working video. I hope the end result here is worth my future agony.
Was it?
@@JackMackWoodturning Yeah, I even watched the shattered rainbow one too. :)
Bro I get the same thing but its those bots that read reddit posts and youtube pushes that shit like sisyphus pushes his boulder.
i like watching these videos with the sound off. Great for a visual stim to help relax before sleep
Same fear
This piece is, hands down, the grooviest and most psychedelic wood turning I've ever seen. And it's, conceptually, the most original and unique design I've seen to date. It's hypnotically stunning.
Well done, sir.
Just freakin groovy, man!!
Thanks a lot buddy. Very much appreciated. Have you encountered rainbow plywood before?
@JackMackWoodturning I've only ever seen it here on TH-cam on a couple of wood turning channels. I've never actually seen it in real life.
That’s the most incredible piece of art I’ve ever seen. It’s just beautiful.
it looks like a mistake.
This is the best wood turning project I’ve seen, and I would love to own a big salad bowl like this. My only two other comments are that I really liked the stage when you could still see the wood grain patterns as a counterpoint to the rainbow effect and that the only way to increase the visual joy of watching this would be doing it in resin so you can watch the long strings of floom shooting out and piling up. Subscribed ❤️🔔, liked 👍, and commenting 💬 for the algorithm.
I’d love to see how you clamped & glued this prior to turning.
Glue on all the bits that touch and elastic bands. Loads of elastic bands 👍🏻
@@JackMackWoodturning I was confused that I had missed the epoxy curing
@@ikepigottme too!
Same here!!
A bit irresponsible to skip that part IMO. Beginners might try to repeat the build and get injured.
So trippy! I don't know how you turned this piece without getting dizzy! Very cool. I would love to see you turn something similar to this into a lamp shade. I think if it were thin enough, the light would shine through the rainbow wood and look incredible! Keep up the great work!
That is some wild turning. The colors spinning by look like rotoscope animation. It's very pleasing to watch them slowly appear as you remove material.
Thanks B. Are you an animator?
@@JackMackWoodturning Nope, not an animator. I had to look up the name of the animation type I was thinking of. Cool stuff though.
Just the right amount of bright colors that would otherwise be garish against pretty dark wood in a pleasing pattern. As a glassblower I must say your sense of pattern balance is superb. I hope to see more variations on this theme. The pattern reminds me of a psychedelic looking machine shop drill with multi colored cutting inserts.
Glassblowing is an art that fascinates me as well. I love watching videos of people blowing glass. Do you ever film and post it?
And yes, I agree that the colors here are spectacular. The dark wood really highlights the rainbow parts, and gives it a necessary contrast, and a way for the eye to rest. Brilliant!
Incredible concept and execution!! Congratulations!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful piece of work! Brilliant concept. My father, an electrician, did similar work, gifting most of his creations to we kids. Dad’s been gone for over 20 years, but I have two gorgeous table lamps and a set of candle sticks that remind me every day what a great guy he was! Now they’re family heirlooms. Carry on posting your videos … satisfying to watch and evoking warm feelings too. Greetings from Ontario, Canada!

That bowl is even more colorful than Gordon Ramsey’s vocabulary
Good morning Jack, that's awesome craftsmanship and beautiful array of colors.
I love the rainbow pieces you make. Just wonderful.
Hypnotic Indeed!! You are a master at your craft Jack!! Thank you for your weekly videos, letting us viewers enjoy unimaginable unique pieces of work come to life.
The part where the flakes were spinning around inside (before they were vacuumed up) was the most trippy, hypnotic thing I've seen in a long time, especially true since I'm not high while watching this. Made me question reality for a moment XD
@jackMack - I'm curious why you didn't high grit finish sand this? It turned out amazing! I wish as much care was given to the finish as to the forming and shaping...
Really cool. Never saw it glued.
It's not often the case but this time the gloss finish detracts from the result.
3:42 That looks so trippy, while it’s spinning!
8:52 Totally really awesome!!! ♥️♥️♥️
A beautiful piece indeed, but I would have liked to have seen the glue up stage. It looks like it would have been difficult to spread the glue and get all of those pieces lined up and together. But then again you’re a pro.
It probably wasn’t as hard as you may imagine. I’ll try to include glue up next time 👌🏻
@@JackMackWoodturning I was going to ask how you did that without glue, so this answers my questions. :)
Simply gorgeous 😍. I absolutely love your crafts. Amazing pieces you have created.
I got a little hypnotized while watching this turn on the lathe. Another incredible work of art. Thank you Jack.
For me I think this is the coolest thing you've done (and you have many) from both a visual standpoint and complexity with all the angles. Just love the colors and patterns.
Love the whole look of this bowl, it’s mesmerising!
It's truly mesmerizing to watch this piece being made.
Holy. Thats GORGEOUS!
Thanks WT. Are you a gardener?
@@JackMackWoodturning no, i live in a care facility .
That turned out beautifully.
02:03 Did I miss something there? How did you stick it all together? Was it glued, resin?
I was just about to ask the same question! Please tell me there was some glue involved or I will loose my mind, not understanding this...
I know this is an old video but I was reading the comments trying to figure out the same thing. Usually they use resin but all i saw to keep it together was a rubber band.
Im sure it was just regular wood glue. If you are gluing solid wood to solid wood, wood glue is king. If you are gluing wood to something clear or colored resin, using resin is king.
Beautiful segmented piece of art bowl. Love it. Thanks for sharing 💛🤎🧡❤️
So beautiful! Thanks, Jack!
This is insane!!! Absolutely beautiful!
Wow !!! That is an incredible piece of artwork. I give it a 15, on a 1 to 10 scale.
Wicked-Cool result. The colors are amazing Jack, and the pattern is brilliant! Thank you for sharing your time, your skill and your adventure.👍🤟🪡🎨
This is one of the most beautiful things made by human hands that I have ever seen! STUNNING!!!!!
That is one clever piece Jack, beautiful. Surprised that ply turns so well with no chipping? Well done and thanks again for the inspiration. Stay safe.
Yes you nailed that one it’s amazing!
Amazing!!! Beautiful colors and illusion!!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Wow Jack that turned out beautiful! 👍🏻You always come up with something fabulous! 👌 Thank you for sharing! Cheers!!!!

one of the prettiest things I've ever seen turned in wood, I hope you make more!
Mind-bendingly gorgeous!
Great pattern! Thanks so much for sharing!
Amazing bowl!Thanks for sharing 😎
That is absolutely stunning!
Really nice work, id love to have that, one thing though I think if you would have wet sanded the finish with 1000 gritt and re sprayed it with clear and repeated this process, the finish would loom amazing with no orange peel effect
So very pretty! Thanks for sharing
Gorgeous piece! Amazing idea. That coloured plywood is beautiful.
Truly gorgeous. Makes me want to throw a clay pot and try to paint it like this.
Are you a potter?
@@JackMackWoodturning Of sorts, yes. 😊 This year I have been working on learning to make 3D models of pots and other sculptures, so then I can move forward to learning how to 3D print my models as small sculptures. So I haven't really been up to my elbows in clay, and I'm missing that. But I have been playing a computer game, Master of Pottery (on Steam), which lets me quickly experiment with new ideas and exercise my creativity, though it doesn't export any kind of 3D file.
This turned out even better than I expected! Good work 💜
Great thanks 🎉❤
The lines on the dark wood are what blew me away!
Man! Bring back the sixties, I feel like I am on my first clearlight acid trip again! Ahh the good old days!
Wow. Just wow.
stunning video
Vous n'avez pas été hypnotisé pendant que cette pièce tournait à grande vitesse ? Je trouve cette pièce absolument incroyable, de toute beauté. Bravo Monsieur, j'aimerais bien la posséder...
Beautiful! ❤
Mesmerizing. Stunning!
That's a really satisfying jig
Stunning 😍
Nice one D. Where are you watching from?
What an awesome and stunningly beautiful bowl. Wow
Man, that finish raises it to another level.
You have not used any glue? And it keeps in one piece? Please, please explain😊
Right! They totally edited out the part where they glued everything together
@@bryandavis2070you mean they edited out the most basic and fundamental process? The one that every kid learned before they were 6yo? Smh
Screw 'em if they can't take a joke. You made my day!
What a beautiful piece of art! I enjoyed watching this!
Pure genius
It looks yummy!
Just beautiful! And I think I have a new favorite video to watch when I am trying to wind down before bed!! This is hypnotic!!
That is gorgeous!

I'm amazed how you can visualize the end result. Thank you for sharing.
You make some of the absolute coolest things!!! Keep doing that!
That is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastically creative and beautiful!
Thats the coolest bowl on planet earth. Brilliant.
Hi Jack, I think that is the most beautiful bowl ever. I love it.
Nice pattern , very pretty.
WOW! So beautiful. 😮😊💥🇦🇺
Incredible work as always. That looks so beautiful 👏👏
I had started to think it was a lamp shade, how cool with those been in reds and greens for Christmas.
Would you use it as a lamp?
@@JackMackWoodturning In a heart beat. =D
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!😮😮😮
Very beautiful piece.
When you were cutting the strips they looked like wafer cookies. Then when you placed the wedges together it looked like a scrumptious cake. I love how the recipe/result turned out!
When your friend eats mushrooms and is having a hard time.....sit them down and put this on a loop!
Very cool ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Trippy!
You been on the shrooms?
Damn, that thing was absolutely gorgeous to watch being made! Excellent outcome!!
Watching this piece spin made my head spin with it!
You are UK's Spiral King!
Very impressive to have ideas like that and excellent turning too. What a great combination. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful project Jack.
