I have the red guava the scent is contagious once you touch it. Though it’s not the sweet. The giant Thai guava is my favorite because it’s crunchy and sun ripened sweeter than anything I can describe
Bought mine in gallon pot two weeks ago from Home Depot for $23.00. Grown by Saxon Bengal & Sons, TX. Grown from 12inch two branch plant to 26 inches in less than 3 weeks with only water in my Ft Worth weather!
I just purchased one two days ago and it is still in the same pot. Did you repot it right away? Put it in a semi shady area? My yard is nearly all sun and I’m trying to create micro climates for things like this.
I bought one as well from Home Depot. It’s doing great with lots of new growth. Can’t wait for my first fruit. Planted mine in the Austin San Antonio area.
@@ChefCrys01 have you up potted yours yet? I did mine a few weeks ago. It is now flowering I put some pictures up on my channel. I think there called Post. I'm not really sure.
I put my guavas in rubber maid 45 gallon containers from Lowes and I drill a hole on side on the container about three inches above the ground, any excess water in the container will drop out of the hole, my guavas are full sun, since the water maintains the soil constantly moist, I only water my guavas once a week, I heavy mulch, I'm in Fresno CA we're summers are 105 degree average from May to Oct, I haven't had a problem with sun burn, don't drill hole of the container drill them 2 or three in chest above ground, and only one hole really as long as it's big about a dime in size.
I live in Arizona and I am basically from Pakistan. I tried different types of Guavas in the US, but they are not even close to what we have in Pakistan. Specially in the northern Pakistan there is a city called Kohat. Its guavas are sweet as honey and its aroma is so strong that as soon as you bring it home, you can smell it at every corner of your home.
Excellent video!! Very informative! Thank you! I am outside of tampa and bought a tree. Super excited! I grew up with no tropical fruit at all ( former ussr) so it’s like a new delicious and amazing world to me!
Great informative video. I actually found one in Home Depot. Couldn't believe it. Now I know how to care for my tree. I'm in zone 8b so I think it will thrive. Ty
This is the First time that i see a Guava (Goiaba here in Brazil) with this shape. Our fruits here in Brazil usually are completely rounded shape with yellow skin and pink interior when matured.
My neighbor has a nice sized guava tree in his yard, it's big enough now that it doesn't apparently suffer from our yearly frost. Seems to continue growing larger and larger every year.
I have a Pink.... It was small an it has gone nuts!. I live in St. George, Utah. I have it in a pot and I will be cutting it back into a tree. I will bring it in the house after I clean it and trim it back. I have a Pink Lemon, Meyers Lemon, & Lime.... all coming in the house!
Do you have any information about the Rojiber Guava? Are they sweet? And are the seed unpleasant/tough to eat? This is the only kind I can order living in Germany.
Thanks so much for the great information! Are these self fertile, and if so, is it still beneficial to have more than one individual, or even individuals of other varieties for better yields? Not sure if Cross pollenization factors in here.. Thanks for any insight you can share!
I live in Northern California and have seen several guava trees in my neighborhood, growing without irrigation throughout the summer. However, they tend to be mostly the small Mexican type. I want to plant the Ruby Supreme or Red Malaysian in an area of my yard that will get watered but not irrigated as intensely as you suggest. Do you think it will do okay? We do get some hot dry summers but the other trees tend to do okay.
it tastes very similar, sweet and creamy. Red malaysian foliage is more ornamental though. Mexican cream will taste almost same as ruby supreme, it's just white on the inside.
I live in zone 8b. Super hot (humid but not wet) summers (90-105), toss up winters (moderate to freezing). For the summer, shade cloth and lots of water OR a green house with a fan? Thanks for the encouraging video and for your answer.
@@ChefCrys01you can grow it in the pot instead of planting it on the ground. According to the video heat is not the problem. The tree cannot take frost. You still can enjoy it if you grow it in the pot. Thanks
Since the roots are fibrous in my now potted Mexican cream guava, I was wondering if it was okay to plant it within 7 ft. of a well casing and water pipes, or should it be further away from them when I plant it in the spring?
Nice video I am trying to get one Ruby Supreme guava! I can see u have a nursery! Do you sale the Ruby Supreme guava trees? And do you mail them? Cause I live in vegas!🤷🏻♀️🌳🍐🙂
I live in South Florida and I have a Ruby Supreme. It produces well in the summer. My only complaints are one being I have experienced worms inside. My other complaint is that their is too many seeds and make the fruit undesirable. Do you have problems with worms out there.
I heard some people say to snip off the tips. Should this be done for this variety? Also, I have had some flowers bloom, I hand pollinated with a paint brush, but the flower just dropped of and didn't produce a fruit. Do you know why that may be happening?
I just cut open my 1st Ruby S. Guava and the color was nice and red -- but the taste was not -- I squeezed it a bit and it was somewhat soft, it was almost Softball in size. I am in warm and humid Mississippi and I water it regularly , and the plant has 8 more young ones on it... do you think something happened that it fell off the plant before it got ripe or was it over ripened ??
@@luismartinez-fd4zu can't lose anything by trying. They simply take much longer to root in the cold. But if you change the ambient temperature and it's warm enough, you should be good to go.
Great video! Question. In FL I know people growing guavas and they ALWAYS have worms in them.. is that just certain varieties? I would love to buy a Ruby Supreme but it will be a waste of time and money if they all have worms in them because I won’t eat them like that. Any advice?

fruit sold in stores is picked too soon so it can survive transport, home grown is really the best way to get good fruit

Hi, where can I buy the ruby guava tree? I am on southern CA. Thank you.
Hello, great information. Do you have seeds to share or sale. I'm in North Texas. Thxs again
Hello, should I be alarmed. Every time I water my potted ruby guava, I find these little white centipede.
I just bought a small 3 gallon Ruby Supreme a couple weeks ago and now I can't wait to taste it! How does the taste compare to Tropic Pink?
Very similar. Tropic pink is just smaller and has more seeds.

Quick question, pink guava when it blooms is the flower white or pink ? First time owning a guaba tree and it just started blooming.
How would you compare this guava and the red malaysian? We have a Mexican cream but would like a pink/red variety as well
