Hey , I just bought LOQ 15 with i5 12450H and RTX 4050 and 16GB RAM, I seen one problem, the laptop gets very Hot while gaming World of Warcraft, and internals are ok, but I mean body of laptop, near the screen is very hot, keyboard is ok, I can play, but also air vents push very hot air, and it seem quite similar on Quite mode and Performance mode between temps, like performance a little better, but its like to loud then, is it normal? Cause I was playing on my Asus Zenbook 14' with integrated nvidia MX350, it was less fps of course but not even as hot as this it :D

The importance of keyboard feel for a laptop can never be underestimated! Same with touchpads! Alienwares keyboards and touchpads have a really good feel. Nice to hear the Lenovos are good in that regard as well. I wish I was more passionate about the Legion's as you can get crazy good deals from Lenovo if you reach out to customer service(I'm sure you already know this) I could get a legion with a 4090 for significantly less money than a Blade 16 with a 4080 or about the same money as an AW X16 with a 4080.
@@TechGuyBeau There's def nothing wrong with Legions! Sorry for that came out wrong. This was my first gaming laptop purchase and just wasn't impressed with them as much as the Blade or AW X16. I ended up testing a legion at micro center and you are right the keyboard is really good. AW def wins though if you get the Cherry MX version and like clicky. I def prefer the Legion's over some of the Asus gaming laptops. Cooling is pretty good on the X16 as well but you are probably correct that the Legions cooling is better.

Absolutely. Super thin and lights that are powerful are a premium for sure. Like the x13/x16. But if you want power and portability you go that route. My legion 7 is a bit too heavy to lug around all day unfortunately

for the ram i think its up to you but if you do 32+8 the first 8gb from each stick will be quad channel and then the rest of the 32 will be dual channel for 16 quad and 24 dual meanwhile 16+16 will run fully quad channel so i would recommend 2x16 gb since you lose like 8 gb for more speed
I saw a post on reddit saying that the response times on this display were really bad (like 37ms). Do you find that to be true in your experience using the laptop?
This dropped a few weeks after I bought a Legion 5 with a 3050Ti & it hurt me to the core seeing it on sale for basically the same price I got the Legion 5 at. There was no way I could return the Legion as I had already started the process of shipping it from the US to a different country. This and the Ideapad Gaming 3(with the refreshed 3050) are going to be very good options for gamers on a budget. Also, I saw Lenovo say it's pronounced as LOCK rather than L.O.Q.

And I appreciate your sentiments about my Legion device. A little disappointing but still a significant upgrade on my old Inspiron gaming laptop from back in the day(when Dell still used "Inspiron" as their budget gaming lineup)

I added an SSD and it runs well. I tried hooking it up to my 29'' 4k monitor and it is working surprisingly well. The colours aren't crisp I was afraid it would run hot but not all.
Temperatures will be identical between the two of them. You get two more physical cores on the rise and seven. So if you do desktop work, it’s going to make a decent difference. In gaming tasks it probably will be negligible or non-existent

I got got it from Lenovos eBay store and it’s certified refurbished which is strange since its brand new laptop that came out. It’s much quieter than a legion 5. It has a significantly cooler cpu (Phoenix from AMD) and the gpu likewise doesn’t run hot. You can hear the fanatic but they are far quieter
At the time of recording HWinfo didn’t have sensor data for temperature on the 7640hs or 7840hs. My next Phoenix laptop arrives Friday, hopefully they have added it to the program

@@Jean90966 Ideapad gaming or Ideapad slim? If it’s Ideapad slim then technically the LOQ will perform better. This is because the LOQ had a higher wattage version of the 3050. They will be similar, but likely you’d see around 10% better performance on a higher wattage 3050. Offhand

I'm going to buy Lenovo Loq but I'm having problems choosing a processor. There are two versions in stores with an Intel processor: i5 12450h and Ryzen 5 7640HS. The configurations are the same except for the processor. Is it worth overpaying 100€ for an AMD processor?

LQQ 16 or 15? Either way, the ryzen is extremely power efficient, runs well on battery and will have better battery life. 4060 is also better than 3060 for the same price+ frame generation, and since you mentioned LQQ also have the 2k 165hz screen, you should absolutely go for the LQQ imo.
@@dominicamoakobaah9516 okay let me summarize then Legion 5 will have 1. Better screen. Will be a bit brighter and colourful, and higher resolution. 2. A bit sturdier build. 3. Might have a larger battery maybe. 3. Has a higher power cpu, but not necessarily better. (Drains battery faster, is hotter). 4. Has a worse gpu (3050 is 6gb vs 3050ti being 4gb) The 3050ti REALLY kills the legion for me The LOQ you can get better gaming performance, the cpu is more efficient. The only negative is not quite as nice screen. Loq battery will last longer, it weighs less. And the gpu is superior My recommendation between these two is the LOQ. Crazy world.

@@dwilfred923 they should perform quite similar, the rise and processor will have better battery performance for sure however. The raw benchmark scores might be a bit higher on Intel if that matters
The new 3050 having more vram definitely helps a lot, but sadly Lvidia reduced the memory bus and speed, so IN THEORY the older 3050 should perform better on older games that specifically aren't so abusive in vram consumption, but in the newer model the new vram capacity frees up the main bottleneck the older one had, so the gpu, even though the nerfs it had, can stretch it's legs, and even allows some of the latest games to be even playable, because some of them are so hungry on vram they can't reach playable fps or in the worst cases, won't even launch.

Legion Slim 5 begins at around 1250€ for the Ryzen 5 7640Hs, 16 GB, RTX 4060 and goes to 1620€ for the Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32 GB, RTX 4070. I get a 10% student discount on top of the usual 14% discount.

Don’t get too bogged down in it. A 6800u is incredibly powerful for example. These low use the even more powerful 7840hs or 7640hs.

I'm going to buy Lenovo Loq but I'm having problems choosing a processor. There are two versions in stores with an Intel processor: i5 12450h and Ryzen 5 7640HS. The configurations are the same except for the processor. Is it worth overpaying 100€ for an AMD processor?

What country are you in? In Canada and the USA, swapping ram does NOT void you warranty; that would be illegal here.

Kinda. It has a lighthouse keyboard but it’s not as advanced as legion models

I just bought mine. I5 13500H with a 4050 and 1TB SSD with 8Gb ram for 770 on Amazon. Which i also went ahead and purchased 2x16 of DDR5 for an extra hundred.

@@beau-urns fhd 165hz on the helios and 2k 165hz on the LoQ( both are 100% s-rgb too)
LQQ 16 or 15? Either way, the ryzen is extremely power efficient, runs well on battery and will have better battery life. 4060 is also better than 3060 for the same price+ frame generation, and since you mentioned LQQ also have the 2k 165hz screen, you should absolutely go for the LQQ imo.

Legion 5 will have
1. Better screen. Will be a bit brighter and colourful, and higher resolution.
2. A bit sturdier build.
3. Might have a larger battery maybe.
3. Has a higher power cpu, but not necessarily better. (Drains battery faster, is hotter).
4. Has a worse gpu (3050 is 6gb vs 3050ti being 4gb)
The 3050ti REALLY kills the legion for me
The LOQ you can get better gaming performance, the cpu is more efficient. The only negative is not quite as nice screen.
Loq battery will last longer, it weighs less. And the gpu is superior
My recommendation between these two is the LOQ. Crazy world.

@@dwilfred923 they should perform quite similar, the rise and processor will have better battery performance for sure however. The raw benchmark scores might be a bit higher on Intel if that matters

The new 3050 having more vram definitely helps a lot, but sadly Lvidia reduced the memory bus and speed, so IN THEORY the older 3050 should perform better on older games that specifically aren't so abusive in vram consumption, but in the newer model the new vram capacity frees up the main bottleneck the older one had, so the gpu, even though the nerfs it had, can stretch it's legs, and even allows some of the latest games to be even playable, because some of them are so hungry on vram they can't reach playable fps or in the worst cases, won't even launch.
Sadly you can't even spell Nvidia. 😂

All of them feature a similar WQXGA/QHD+ 165Hz screen. My usages are mainly designing, gaming and occasional video editing.
Would it be better to spend some more and buy Legion Pro 5i 13500HX with 4060 and 16GB ram for 1450€?

I’d get lenoco over the other two just relating to quality control. Dell isn’t the most reliable laptop maker.

@TechGuyBeau Thank you for you for input. My friend had issues with Alienware too but their service was good so i thought it would be worth taking the risk. Legion Slim 5 begins at around 1250€ for the Ryzen 5 7640Hs, 16 GB, RTX 4060 and goes to 1620€ for the Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32 GB, RTX 4070. I get a 10% student discount on top of the usual 14% discount.

If the price is within budget the the 5 slim. For sure. Get the 4070 and 7840hs and don’t look back. Otherwise get the LOQ.
