That's a CLEAN 61, and thanks for sharing your honesty experience with those titanikel cylinders. I know I that as little as I know about making a performance 2 stroke I know even less about big block 4 strokes so I'd love to see more videos on the race truck as you're working on it! Just my $0.02
Definitely show the drag truck build. With that, you can get solid roller lifters. But it’s not necessary, you can still run big hp engines with hydraulic lifters
Good job Harvey. Most of this stuff is above my head but I love to listen to it and hopefully I can learn more about it. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
Can't wait,I love building square bodies. Ill be asking you about how to get more horse power. Merry Christmas to you all. Time for me too plow these cny roads. From the Pitcher Ranch
I tried using E85 fuel in my 77 F250 about 16 years ago. 400 with an Edelbrock carburetor, Performer intake and cam. Mainly due to fuel cost. One tank would run fine, the next tank ran like crap. I tried to make it work for about a month, with almost constant changing performance.. My theory was that the alcohol absorbed moisture from the ambient humidity (Missouri summer).
Hey Harvey, I know a lot of guys in the Midwest are running E85 in their dirt modified cars and there’s a few guys out there building carbs and getting pretty good results. Definitely some gains in terms of running cooler. My friend locally here in NW Minnesota switched his mod to E85 last season and had very good results and no issues. Not a lot of info there but it’s another place to research. Be well!
Hey Ironhorse! You were talking about titanickel cylinders failing...I put top end kits on 2 ms661s and 1 ms 460. So far so good after 10-20 tanks of gas each. I'm nervous now though! Guess I should take the mufflers of and look see. Any update on this problem? recalls etc.? Great channel, thank you! ps...I have the exact twin to your 61 complete with the 300 year anniversary sticker! Mine is all original and stock and still cutting firewood!
E-85 works. Like all alcohol setups you have to keep the oil maintained, and pistons scuff. But turned down like you're gonna be. It won't work as bad. When you're dumping fuel through one it gets to be an issue.
Yeah... You're going to need a sturdy powerglide. Maybe a built torqueflite. I knew a guy with a '68 firebird with a Paxton blown Chevy 502.. He couldn't keep a transmission in it without grenading. And that generic Chevy 14 bolt just can't handle that power. Run a chromoly Ford 9" rear pumpkin... Those are hard to beat for strength on a budget. E85 is a lean fuel and burns very dry and very hot... So be careful with the head. Unfortunately, I've never run e85 in high horsepower applications, but have heard horror stories of burnt valve seals... especially when combined with nitrous. I wish y'all the best of luck, and definitely post those videos.
Thanks for the info on the cylinder wish me luck ordering a big bore kit for my 372 and going to try the 272 piston swap see how it goes friend had a lathe to cut down the piston I've seen lots of your videos thank you for all the things you share with us if you got any tips on this swap I'm all ears
Man that thing is clean harv! I got one on my bench now but it was a pro loggers main say for a long time so it's quite dirty.. I've been wondering how them cylinders are and if they are any good.
Thank you for your shared Experience. That was great Content. So why no windowed piston on 372s 50mm . On bdc the Transfers are almost covered by the sides of the stock Piston. Isnt the most flow into the lowers in bdc? Everyone cuts down the sides of the Jug and opens the Trans but they are still covered from the stock piston. Does that still improve to flow without windowed Piston?
@THEIRONHORSE 272 is closed port and 372 is open port correct? Do you prefer hyway or meteor cylinders. Also do you like hyway or caber rings? I just built a 272 with a hyway pop up and so far its been perfect.
HI IRONHORSE I know U remember sometimes U have 2 put a double knot 4 the crank pulley so the rope won't pull through and the old chainsaw pull handles U put a bolt in it then tide a knot so rope won't pull back out the pull handle OMG 12 16 2O22
I have recently inherited a 1982 Husqvarna 61 Practica saw. It has me baffled, it appears to have so much compression that I cannot pull it thru to start it. I pulled the spark plug and the saw pulls thru very easy. It is not hitting the spark plug. I thought it may have an obstructed/plugged muffler but pulling the muffler did not help. The piston and ring look like new with no wear or gouges that I could see. I know this saw from the time it was new but it had been sitting up for years and I fully intend to have it fixed but I would like to have some idea what is wrong before I take it to an unknown shop to be fixed.
You have a bad recoil reel! It’s only picking up one of the dogs on the flywheel properly and throwing it out of center which makes it bind up and drag!
I love tree work done it most of all my life but I always said I wanted my kids smart enough that way when they went to work they didn't have to work physically just mentally first time my son picked up a chainsaw to be honest I got mad I didn't want his body to be like mine but I know I would do it again but my son is finished college and he is a welder which that runs in the family and tree or login whichever one is called work
Build the big block I would love to see it and the racing .now on the e85 gas look on some old gas monkey garage he had his Mechanic it was his original mechanic was thin had a beard brown hair. I forget his name is woman goes episodes. If I’m correct, nothing else get a hold of the owner of the place in Texas. He doesn’t like that racing. He might give me some 411

Cool Herv, can’t wait to see the big block and how it does
I'd definitely love to see some of the drag racing stuff, we used to have a local track but it closed down. That's a nice looking 61 too!
E85 is great for detonation good for boost or high compression . It's easy to work with but that's fuel injection not sure about carbs .
Can't wait to see the drag racing! Love It!

I don't like the E85 personally but don't forget to use stainless fuel lines exc. Watch your timing and good luck. I hope to see a truck video soon
thats a nice saw
Hi ,watch your stuff great info, question any idea where I get twin type coil for 61 grey top husqvarna, thanks
Father-in-law has that same saw. They r rippers. ❤ from pnw oregon
Excited to see yall go drag racing!!!

It's the piston and cylinder of a 272withthe crank and case and carb of the 372
In your opinion what's the best running 40cc work saw stock and ported

Where in the hell do these saws hide? I have my eyes opened wherever I go, never see them. I might need to look at night

Old man's garage they do race gas and e85 and he's the best carb guy
So the titanikel cylinders are no good since they have a tendency to flake off? I just bought one for a 661 😐
Buy Meteor. 661 cylinder and piston $139.
@@sawmanbigtreeslayer2360 why do you prefer meteor ove just the regular hyway ?
@@jacobhein4319 fairly certain he means titanickel.
@@jacobhein4319 the last Meteor I put on an 044 had 172 pounds of compression. The tolerances are so much better.

496 ho ho ho 12 13 completely doable Some good hoosiers wrinkle walls oh ya baby let’s see it. That would be cool to see 12s with 700hp
Haha, that's sort of what I was thinkin. 13's a very conservative figure with a 496. I bet they get into 12's on test & tune.
@@Chuckrussell75 I think how Harv sets up the suspension front and back will play a huge part in his goal

You need to reach out to the old mans garage on youtube he can tell u what u need to know on e85

I'm building a 272/372
