I just found your channel and I have been messing around with a certain idea for about 3 months now. If you don't mind me asking, where do you buy your kevlar, uhmw pe and aluminum from?

SKARR ARMOR for UHMWPE and non-woven kevlar and ArmorCo for woven kevlar and kevlar laminates. Both companies have some pretty cool stuff and I think both make their products in the US. I used Titanium in this build that i got on ebay from Sackin metals. I get my Aluminum from Midweststeelsupply. Thanks for the comment, hope this helps.

Ok here me out have you thought about using 1 mm size borosilicate glass beads in the kelver layers with flex seal or caulk?

@@codywhitehead4703 someone mentioned something similar, I think he called it a “super sandbag.” I think he wanted me to use 1mm alumina beads rather than glass though. I did find a good source for the alumina oxide beads, they have .5mm all the way to 40mm so maybe ill look into it for a future project.

You could send it to tech this out meow. He has rifles chambered in .308, 7.62x54R, .300 Win Mag, and .30-06. He also has some of the fabled M2AP for the .30-06. Which might destroy your plate, but your plate has what appears to be 1/2 inch Alumina hexagon mosaic so it may handle steel core .30-06 who knows.
Perfecting this is an absolute must because if we can get this design a bit thinner than 0.84 inches it will be far easier to conceal it under some clothing. Could you imagine 3+ flexible rifle rated armor that's around a quarter inch in thickness? That would be boss!! 💪🏻👊🏻

Ill have to ask him, I was thinking Buffman range but if he says no ill ask tech. The tile are .25in but the site i got them from does have half in. All in all i had about a 1/4in of tape and that kevlar wrap holding everything together so if if I can half that we should be looking at around a .70in plate maybe even something as low as .67in.

@@Armor-Innovations Good to hear. Yes definitely ask before you send anything. Otherwise you might get some weird looks from the guy randomly receiving stuff in the mail from a stranger.

These are friggin rad. Thinking about making my own. Would love to know where you sourced your materials from. Also have some questions about your materials. You mentioned the hexagon tiles are .25in, is that including the wrap, or just the tiles? The thickness of UHMWPE? The gauge of Kevlar? I’ve seen most folks using 14oz? How did you cut your titanium?
If nothin else, love this video and your thorough recap. All the info you want. Nothin you don’t need. Would be super curious to see a clay back face deformation test.
Thanks for the vid. Keep doin great work!

The Titanium I got from Ebay (Sackin Metals) the tiles i got from Grain Supply but you can buy direct from Ceresist Inc based in New Jersey. The tiles are 1/4 inch not including the wrap but Ceresist does have as thin as 1/8 just not in a hexagonal format. The density of the UHMWPE is 0.524oz/ft². And has a thickness of 0.008in or 0.21mm. The kevlar is 850D KM2+ 4.8oz and has the same thickness as the UHMWPE, kevlar 29 (14oz) is the go-to ballistic kevlar for soft panels but I use the thin stuff because its not meant to stop anything in this application just hold stuff together better. I cut the Titanium using a metal shear i got on Amazon for $100.
      UHMWPE is from SKARR ARMOR
      Kevlar is from ARMORco
Tiles are from Grain supply or Ceresist
      Titanium from Sackin Metals (ebay)
      Hope this helps!

When its tested, it needs to be held curved, and the rounds need to hit between the tiles.

Yeah, history says thats kinda bogus, Rome litterally DIY'd B.C. soo hard they killed a species of plant.

lol, love it, except wrong on the first and last one. Natural antibiotics and nutraceuticals can be effective, and diy armor can be super effective but usually thicker and or heavier. Birth control I'll give you that.
