This is awesome. I read some -few- "critical comments" here .... well ... Sondra Radvanovsky is just by far the greatest and very probably only "dramatic coloratura" voice of our times. Her vocal technic, huge sound impact combined with fierce stage power has no comparison. Full point. Those making negative comments are very welcome to stay riveted to their favorite ancient recordings of their favorite divas ... it will allow those who want to experience the" real thing" in the theaters to get tickets more easily ... In the last 30 years I dedicated most of my time and energy attending the performances by the greatest singers around the world and chasing for the recorded legacy of the greatest artists of the past ... and I feel extremely grateful for having the privilege to live in a time where we can witness such a phenomenal artist ... ALL the highly educated real opera connaisseurs (including singers, critics etc ... ) I know are unanimous about her fabulous and unique vocal and artistic gift ... too bad for those who can't see - and hear - that ...
I love Sondra. However, I wish I could hear more chest tones. It would enhance what already is her excellence. It's not too late to cultivate that aspect of her voice.
With her drama, her phenomenal interpretation and her acting, she puts ALL other sopranos in the shade. Probably the best interpreter of the Italian repertoire since Callas. I've seen and heard her five times on stage and was enraptured every time. It's just a shame that there are hardly any DVDs or CDs available.
Thank you so much for this posting. They are so wonderful. the only complaint that I have is MET Opera did not have the complete recording for her 3 Queens at her prime on the 2015-2016 season. I watched various productions of the Tudor Queens and MET Opera by far has the best productions and casts. They are so fortunate to have her yet only have her complete performance of Robert Devereux. I just pre-ordered her finale of Three Queens from by Lyrics Opera house but they are not the same. Her performance on the Tudor Queens will be on the text book
I wish everyone got to see her performing live before they say sth aweful. Little clips on TH-cam dose not do any justice with her huge voice. I dare to say.. Her warm tones and shimmery colors and that ring... That's everything!! U have to hold ur breath when she sing.. #somagical Sondra is already a legend. 🙇♀️🙋♀️ BTW I saw her many times at the Met. She was on point every single time from technique to acting..... Words cannot describe how awesome her performances were.
For the critical comments: 1. The audio quality does not match what it would sound like in real life 2. She is around 45 at the time of the performances 3. th-cam.com/video/PW8HcBt3ryg/w-d-xo.html 4. SHE IS SINGING SO BEAUTIFULLY HERE!
I love this singer. Saw her as Tosca in L.A. and loved it. Of these 3 clips, I like her best as Elisabetta, secondly as Maria Stuarda. But sadly didn't care for her Anna Bolena. Which is sad because that's my favorite of the 3 operas. But then again, that's probably only because the only 2 sopranoes I've ever liked in that role are Callas and Sills (as diametrically opposite as they are from each other vocally)!
@@pugh.joseph Yeah, the first clip was good, but compared to the rest, I think it was an off day for her. Her voice sounded pressed and the top was constricted (I'm being very critical because she has a beautiful voice). That being said, in the rest, her voice sounded effortless, clear, and open. I just think the first clip wasn't an example of her at her best.
I saw this lady a couple of months ago past her prime POOR DEAR in IL TROVATORE & she was so bad but now I know how good she was. Not my voice type but a great artist. Arnold Bourbon Amaral 🌹🌿🌏🌎🌍👴👱
Putting aside the voice itself, Miss Radvanovsky seems to be too preoccupied with technical issues, which most of the time affect the dramatic portrayal. She has difficulty with pitch, particularly during coloratura passages. Although it IS dangerous to compare current artists with those of the past, I can't avoid thinking about Callas, Gencer, Sutherland, Caballé and Sills who tackled some or most of these roles. Miss Radvanovsky is not a bad singer, but she is not a great one either. Her choice of roles (I am adding Norma and the Trovatore Leonora) are a bit outside her command. Having said all of this, I would rather hear/see Miss Radvanovsky than some of the other sopranos who sing these roles. To her I say BRAVA for her efforts, even when she may not achieve what she has intended musically or dramatically.
you have to see her live...it's such a big voice...that metal you're hearing is actually plush, rich, and enveloping in the house. I've never experienced anything like her.

Agree, Radvonosky is amazing!
Pasion, power, technic, she is far from the top one today. opera is drama, and we believe when she is acting. iLoveSondra!!
Fabulous actor as well. I am definitely one of those who complain about modern opera, but she is exempt from all of them. Absolutely amazing performer
I love Sondra. However, I wish I could hear more chest tones. It would enhance what already is her excellence. It's not too late to cultivate that aspect of her voice.
You are a very astute human being. The number one dramatic coloratura of my time was the great Joan Sutherland😮

which are, in your opinion?
The Opera Zone there is an occasional shrillness to the sound. But I find it appropriate for these flawed queens...

Has anyone ever listened to these queen arias from Leyla Gencer? Especially the "Figlia Impura di Bolena."
