In the early 80’s I tried to get stationed in Sicily Italy, I didn’t get orders, so maybe it was for my best! Thanks for sharing your experiences

Stationed in Sicily 1990-1991 closed down Comiso Air Station. Loved my time there and have returned several times on cruise ship stops. Lots of history on the island and great food.

Loved Syracuse! Food is wonderful! Cannoli is best when not prefilled, which is how we usually found it in Italy. Do try to go back and spend a week on the east coast of Sicily!

@@livingphase2 thanks for answering so fast! I live in the southwest area near Mannheim, in Rheinland-Pfalz on the German wine Route. A lovely area, but the Munich area is also beautiful!

When I went on my solo 6-month world trip, I took 2 different credit cards and 2 ATM cards. I kept one of each in two different places so that even if a pickpocket got me, I could still continue to travel. I have a great travel cross-body bag that I hold in front of me to reduce the risk (it's got metal mesh inside so that the bottom can't be slit, too. Hard to believe, but the thieves really do that!)

Taromina and in fact all of Sicily is worth a week stay. Some of the Ancient Greek ruins are more amazing than those in Greece.

Surprisingly, neither of us got sick from any of the food. We ate the entire nine months. 👍🏻

Why hasnt anybody invented pants with a pocket on the inside of your pants? You could keep your identification, credit card, and the bulk of your money in there.

Rick steves sells something you thread yr belt thru, it has a khaki loop and black loop to match belt. It hangs inside pants and has a zipper on side. Costs about19 dollars and will hold passport

Yes. Google Rick steves Europe, he has a vast website, but a portion of it is the on line store
