A word about the Aventon app: It's one of the few brand apps that is reliably updated and has really good reviews (4.4 stars). A lot of them are useless and rated one or 2 stars :)
This is a pretty amazing bike! I'm thinking of all the things I could ride with and then not worry about safety. If you can't move it when it's locked, that's better than just an alarm! and Im always looking for the keys to my bike, so auto unlock is important to me.
I got an Abound SR and I love it, but there are some additional issues I had that people should be aware of when it comes to how the bike is manufactured and shipped. First, there was paint in one of the screw holes needed for accessory mounting that I had to get drilled out. Second, the front wheel came very poorly adjusted. It took a shop a lot of work to true it up. They said the rear was not bad. The derailleur also needed tweaking, but that’s to be expected. Anyway, since Aventon sells direct to consumer for at-home assembly, I think it’s worth mentioning that after you assemble one of their bikes, you should do yourself a favor and have a shop take a look at the wheels and drivechain. You’ll end up with a much better, and safer, experience.
Oh, and you can see you mileage while riding. You just have to tell the screen to show it to you. I think tapping the power button will rotate through the screens.
I appreciate you sharing your experience! I didn't have any of these issues with the Abound SR, but they happen. It's a great reminder that a little shop time can be a good idea after putting together a new bike.
How does this compare in size to a normal bike, especially the back end with no accessories? I know its not reccomended, but could I feasibly fit someone about 25 pounds over the reccomended rear rack limit onto it?
Because it's a utility (cargo) bike, the rear is stretched a bit longer. So, you'll have a good 6 inches more on the rack than many bikes. However, I would definitely not recommend going over the rack's weight limit... You're risking an accident!
Too heavy and way too many electronics that could eventually fail. I notice that you dismount to the left when you come to a stop, just like me. Is this because you're right handed, or does it not matter?
The bike itself is a fantastic ride and the tech will be upgraded... just checked and the Aventon app was updated 4 days ago, which is a very good sign. Many issues will be corrected by the app, so I'm not worried. Worth it!
Interesting observation... never even though about which way I get off a bike. I think it is because I'm right handed and have a better handle holding up the bike that way :)

Everyone thinks they have to have an app but then don't put in the time and money for a good one
@@laughingbirdproductions3541 Unfortunate truth! But Aventon has put in the work!
Looks like a nice ride. I like the idea of the bag on front and then still having an extra long rack for more storage!
I agree, the Abound SR has a lot of cargo space and the bag was immensely helpful (without having a heavy rack on the front)!
I like that e-locking kick stand security.
Yes, it's pretty amazing tech!
That looks a lot like my Aventure 2 and I love it!
I'm glad to hear you love your Aventure 2! The Abound SR is a great ride as well!

I agree... the security features are amazing and my husband can't get enough of all the fun (and useful) tech.

Really? You found it? I went through all of the options and didn't find it... I'll take have to take another look!

80 lbs isn't bad for a cargo bike. It's mostly city use, so I'd just hop on and go, and there's no reason to lift it!
