If minimalism is on the way out as a trend, you may be looking for ideas for new topics. If so, mental health might be a good one. If you have (or have had in the past) any issues/experiences that you'd like to share, I'm sure there are people who would be interested in hearing. We all need to help lessen the stigma around mental health disorders, which seem to be increasingly prevalent. As for minimalism, I suspect it will just undergo a rebranding. As a lifestyle, I don't think it's going anywhere.
As a (recovering) perfectionist, your channel and minimalism is so much more than living a minimalist life to me. It’s allowing myself to be happy, find true joy, and being on a wonderful journey discovering myself and any expectations I see hung around my neck. And step by step, giving myself the gift of liberty. Thank you, Vera🤍🌿
As someone with undiagnosed ADHD, I find that minimalism speaks to me because it helps to create some kind of order in my life that I so desperately need. When I came across it, I had no idea it was a trend. Trend or not, it’s something that I strive toward just for my own sanity.
Your research skills are excellent -- you manage to fill 15-minute videos with dozens of new ideas again and again -- and I'm sure this skill can be applied in other areas. One thing I'm interested in is videos like The French Whisperer, explaining science/art/history in a soft-spoken voice conducive to sleep and relaxation. You know more about Dutch history and society more than us Yanks do, maybe you could do something along those lines.
For me it's a mindset now... Is this thing really what I want? Do I really need it of can I borrow it from someone first? These are question I ask myself before buying something... In the past I just bought it and after It went to the storage... Not anymore thank you Minimalisme it's like "making inventory" off you life...
I am certainly not done with ‘minimalism’ yet. It’s an ongoing process. It’s the difference between a diet or a lifestyle of eating healthy. Diets are often in or out of trend, but healthy eating is always ‘in-fashion’ I hope my comparison makes sense. 😊
I think minimalism and slower, intentional living is mostly about ignoring what’s trendy to buy, and do, and focusing on what is important for you. So who cares if minimalism isn’t trendy anymore. I honestly didn’t even know it was trendy! lol The more trendy something is, the less I’m interested in it.
Actually, I approached minimalism for the first time during lockdown. That is when I was forced to spend so much time at home and became aware it definitely needed some decluttering. Moreover, I spent more time than I had ever done watching TH-cam videos, because on tv it was only bad news. And those on minimalism & simple living seemed the most appealing, maybe because they inspired calmness while the world was panicking. I’m still on a beginner’s level and therefore I foresee a long way for me and minimalism.
Well, minimalism might not have as many google searches as it used to, but those who find the benefits of it will keep on practicing it. Like a virus, probably most of the people who were attuned to it have already found it, practice it and don’t feel the need to research as much. It happens to me with tiny houses! I used to spend a bit of time researching and watching videos and tv programs. Now that I live in my own tiny space I don’t feel the need to keep on researching, but I still love living in one.
For me, minimalism in only one rule, get rid of what you no longer need, if it was in a good shape I donate it, if not I either recycle it or find a responsible way to dispose it safely. Minimalism helped me be more mindful with the things I buy and with the things I own, minimalism is different for every one, if I got rid of something I thought I no longer need, it doesn't mean you don't need it too it might even be a necessity for you, I watch minimalism videos only for ideas I should't get rid of something just because someone else got rid of it.
I think minimalism can be over for those who see it as an interior design trend. But for those of us who see it as a journey and much more than just about material objects, we will most likely just continue that journey no matter what new trends will come up. At least that is what will be in my future. Regarding the content popularity, I guess it is like you say: First of all, trends fade naturally. But second, those of us who see it as a lifestyle have been educated for a couple of years now. There is just not so much new information out there anymore. At some point, one has seen most of the "things to not buy" and "benefits of minimalism" videos and the amount of unknown content (content not meaning a video itself but the content in said video) is very low now. That is why I love that you also discuss other, but related, topics on your channel. :) Lots of love from Germany 💕
I started to declutter in August 2020 and looked for ideas on how to organize and came across your channel and other videos on "Minimalism", that was game changing for me. These videos made me realize I was allowing these items to own me and adding stress to my life. I have let go of over 50% of things that were just taking up space in my house and I can honestly say that I have no regrets except that I wish I would have learned about this sooner. I think the word minimalism might not be "trendy" for long because it will be a way of life for many. Thanks for all your encouraging videos. 🙂
I'm very focused on it. Still going strong on decluttering and buying less. I agree with you: it's here to stay. Living a simpler life is my intention. Thank you for your advice on many subjects.
For me, as a consumer in terms of knowing and implementing minimalism, I have heard and read a lot about minimalism over the past two years and have incorporated it into my own daily life. This continues to be an ongoing process that I still enjoy to this day. But still, for me, the knowledge is slowly saturating and I have my one or two TH-camrs (you being one of them) that I continue to enjoy watching. But beyond that, I actually read and watch less in terms of minimalism. My own trend right now is towards climate change, animal and environmental protection. Nevertheless, the mindset of minimalism is still enormously important also in terms of sustainability and I don't think it will become "unimportant" in any way. Thank you for your content :) . A nice weekend to you all :)
I could not agree more... Minimalisme made me also to go green. Making my own soap, cleaning supplies, going to second hand shops for clothes, eating at home and really think about things I buy and their impact on the planet. 🌍💖
I followed in my mums footsteps and have always decluttered and kept the house minimal, this is the only way I know at the age of 54 and my mum is 80 next year !
I absolutely agree with Gretchen. Having a lot of stuff makes me feel “heavy”. Minimalism will always be my way of life. Less is more for me. Love you Vera.
I search for “minimalism” less because I got the information. I am using the wonderful tips and guidance, and it has become part of my life. I check in to minimalism again when I get stuck or when I feel a need. Love all your videos, Vera, thank you for giving us your insight.
As always you are so inspiring! To me it is no trend and it goes beyond owning less stuff. It took me out of my material world and I live now with intention. It has added value to my life and brought me joy. ❤️🤗
I think people interested in minimalism have learned something from that "trend" even if they say they are over it. I don't give myself any labels but I do apply now minimalism in my life. I ask myself much more questions before buying anything (do I need it? do I have already something that could be converted into this new idea of mine...) I also try not to keep things I don't use. I try to avoid duplicates and waste....
I think the pandemic went both ways: on the one hand, people were spending more time at home, and thus noticed clutter or things they no longer needed more, so they were motivated to declutter. On the other hand...people were spending more time at home lol. They may want to remodel or bring in new decorations. I work at a retail store that sells a lot of home decor and novelty items, and even during January and February, which are typically slower months, we were busy (though the store itself is also just very popular).
Yes very interesting, you can definitely see these two things happening in people's homes. :) I'll never forgot about all those people hoarding toilet paper 😂
I was a married adult in the 80s and very much took part in the materialistic lifestyle so prevalent then. It was all about consuming, buying, almost a status symbol. I learned how useless and empty it was. It didn’t make me happy. That began my minimalist thinking. I called it purging, getting rid of, letting go. To me it is more about finding joy in simple things, learning to make do with what you have and being content.
I’ve just found your channel. I have entered into a new dispensation time of my life and I have learned to appreciate life other than belonging. Although I may not get rid of everything. I feel that stress management has been a focus and eye clutter has added to my frustration. While I believe in second hand shopping it can cause me to purchase more. As my children are now grown. I’ve been able to shed a lot of possessions which made me feel happy or did it I think I bought things to try to bring me happiness. Figuring out who I am as a person has moved me into a gradual transition. Thank you for your suggestion and approach to minimalisms.
I can definitely say I was "born this way", a minimalist. Clutter and disorder have always caused me anxiety, even as a child (trust me, my parents NEVER had to scold me about a messy room!) so minimalism as a movement was the articulation of the ideals that have always brought peace to my home, work space, and mind. Trending or not, I always have been and always will be a minimalist 👍😌
To me I am a work in progress for minimalism. I find that as I let go of what I truly dont need it is freeing me for things which are most important. Also then I am able to see more of what I can do with what is in front of me,and not be distracted by material things that would be taking up my thoughts and time...Vera 😍the Bunny slippers.
I think minimalism is not dead but it has now become a habit so I don't have to really push myself to practice it I have become used to it I find myself more meaningful, happy and content now I apply minimalism in every area of my life even without realising it consiously
I started watching your channel in Dec 2019 and throughout the pandemic. I feel like I would have gone crazy if I hadn't. I am not a minimalist in my home, I have lots of clutter but in my mind I am. I don't let the news worry me and I have learned to walk past the sales. One day, I will get to the clutter, for now my mental health is more important.
Hi there, thank you so mch. Happy to hear my videos have been helpful for you during these challenging times. I think it's great you're prioritizing your mental health, take care and sending lots of good vibes your way!
I’ve been a natural minimalist my entire life. The last two years, not only with the pandemic but dealing with multiple health issues of my own I’ve been extremely stressed out. I did quite a bit of emotional shopping and online shopping, which didn’t make me feel better (never does!). I’m trying to get back on track now. I hate trends! Minimalism the trend may die, but minimalism the lifestyle will continue on!💖
Cozy minimalism is here to stay in my home. I've never been the kind of person to follow a particular trend or fashion, I just do things that support my well-being. :)
I stumbled upon 'Minimalism' about five years ago when my home had been inundated by a large group of people, which had been going on for a few years. It was an apartment in a large house with a shared yard, entrance, and storage room but it turned out that my own kitchen, living room, closets, bathroom and even bedroom were being used when I wasn't home or I was sleeping, by a steady flow of people. The slightest tidy and workable area that I had carefully set up (not minimalist but highly practical) was considered as 'available space' and there was a combination of valuables going missing or broken with much stuff from others piling up. Of course, I got another apartment just for myself and BOTH restored my valuables and 'purged' all foreign stuff. I left that house crystal clear (with great care) and started my new place utterly minimally! It is a few years later and still every time I come home and my kitchen table etc is clear, as I left it, I feel immense relief. It has been about five years and I am only starting now to display dear and valuable things in my rooms. And I still come across stuff that others tucked into my household back then! Those things are a pleasure to remove! Trend or not, for me it was a process of developing more discretion and literally 'starting from scratch' was such a good start, I like to keep the spirit of that ... and consider it as 'available space' for myself and my loved ones.
Very good points, Vera! (I really enjoy your content btw too!) Trends come and go and I am someone who is more intentional with values and how I live. I discovered minimalism in 2017 and like you, I was drawn to it. I tend to carry a lot on my shoulders (figuratively and literally) and minimalism time and time again has helped me to ponder critical and important questions and keeping up with the rest of society. For me, the core value that drove me to minimalism was harmony.
There's a world beyond TH-cam. TH-cam trends don't necessarily reflect the number of minimalists. Many people started minimalism a few years ago and are now moving on. Simple living will continue. I became minimalist in the 1980s, Simple Happy Zen around 2010, and neither of us is ready to stop. I have started buying some more things, but still laughably minimal (e.g., nicer measuring spoons).
I was listening to you while drinking coffee..I agree with you its a trend..however if your intention to live a simple and happy life definitely it will be a long journey but it will be there for good:) Absolute happiness can be achieved with less..its a matter of mindset..a fan from Manila,Philippines.Keep up a good content..you are doing great.;)
Thx Vera! I've always been a minimalist...although I've been labeled by some family as being cheap! I prefer spending money on traveling than on possessions.
Hi Vera for me minimalism is here to stay. I like the mindfull way of living, all the clutter just distracts in my opinion . Intended consuming is very suited for me for 15 years. It gave me such piece of mind not to have to keep up with trends, "chasing happiness" that I never found how much I had. I am way more happy to day, I do not feel diprived because I have what I need. 😉 See you soon have a great week! 😘
I never thought of minimalism as a trend as it is my way of life. The simplicity and calm work for me. I too wasn’t always a minimalist. We can continue to grow and change as we each travel our own journey. Love this video Vera! ❤️
For some people minimalism is a trend and they will follow the next trend. But for fans minimalism is a trend-indipendent lifestyle. Surely the lockdowns and the fear are having a great impact. When people need security they start hoarding items. Buying and eating is soulfood. It will come a time and they will awake, that simplicity makes much happier.
I’ve always lived a moderate minimalist lifestyle because too many things around me make me jittery. My home doesn’t necessarily look minimalist. I have a hutch with all my portmeirion displayed but I only have what I love and edit my belongings all the time. Great video Vera. 👍🏻
Minimalism and intentional living/consuming, and decluttering have been life changing for me. It is not dead in my world. Keep on doing the hat you are doing, I love your videos and your outlook.
Trends are for people who can't think for themselves. The rest of us just like what we like! I just started looking into minimalism in depth recently and am loving it. I'd also say that these days it's needed even more so than before - with everything going on in the world, it can provide a sense of calm. Thank you for all of your videos! :)
These comments are exactly what I wanted to say exactly. Minimalism is a thing of it's own standing on its own two feet it's not intended to be trendy but helpful. All your topics are awesome Vera thanks for sharing 🌸
It's all about being intential with keeping things simple and being happy:) Your channel is even more relevant now! There are so many of us out here who value experiences over things, peace of mind in financial security, avoiding over-consumption, and being environmentally friendly. Anxiety and burnout are also very real and I experienced these as well in 2018 (corporate driven). That is actually how I found your channel a few years ago-it was from your 10/27/18 video on breathing techniques-just looked it up:) .and I have been watching ever since. Just wanted you to know, and I hope you see this. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your content!
Aw thank you so much Jeffery for your kind comment! So happy you found my channel through a video like that, and it's really nice to hear you've been enjoying my videos ever since. :) I'm sorry to hear about your burnout, I can relate. :) Take good care and thanks for the good vibes! Have a great week
You're such a wonderful, wise person. You have so much awareness of the bigger picture and bring that knowledge to us in a calm and peaceful way. I really appreciate that. I have never been a minimalist, but I've been interested in the topic and own a few books about it because it's so interesting and inspiring. I'm also a fan of donations, decluttering and bringing items back into circulation via "for-free-stores" to help the environment and slow down consumerism. So, no. Definitely not dead to me. And glad it isn't for many others, either.
Minimalism is out for those who don’t understand its true meaning. It’s a journey, a mindset , it evolves with the changes in our life, and is ours to define. I don’t believe in any extreme, wether it’s diet, work, money, or minimalism. I agree when you say we should adapt it to our personal life and situation. You were always inclusive in your content, and gentle in your approach. I feel this is the best way to make people understand what minimalism truly is 😊
The fact that people are thinking minimalism as a trend are in a wrong boat. Minimalism, slow living, having peace within you is a lifestyle. And certainly I dnt follow trends. I wud hv NVR watched this video if it wasn't from you Vera. Tc lots of love ❤️
minimalism is a way of life, not a trend lol if someone practices minimalism because it's popular, they aren't a minimalist- they just cleaned up/got rid of stuff That being said, that's still great, even if it doesn't become their school of thought
I was a minimalist even as a child, I just never needed a lot to be happy. I did notice that during the pandemic everyone was decluttering, but a lot of these people keep buying new things, so they truly weren’t living simply. I still use the one in one out theory, but I really only buy when I actually need something, so I shop intentionally. I love your channel, and I did find you quite awhile ago when I put minimalism into search bar… I am so glad when you post a new video… xo Vera we both have the same matcha tea cups lol
Thank you so much Christine and I'm also really glad you found my channel!! Also about the matcha cups that's so cool! They're one of my favorite things haha, so beautiful 🍵 Enjoy them!!
I have been some kind of minimalist my whole life. I think before I buy something and I don't need or want all new gadgets. I have been decluttering a lot though, but only items I know for sure I won't use. However, i don't t get rid of things just for the sake of it. Example: I kept most clothes that didn't fit for years; now that I've lost weight, they fit again and are back in style. I think it is strange to donate clothes you like, just to have a wardrobe capsule, which is trendy. Another example sentimental items: I had to clean up my parents house and kept quite some smaller items. These things will never ever come back, so I take my time to decide and am already using or decorating my house with them. So yes, items I don't t need or like go, but not in the extreme.
I'm so glad you did this video topic .... I've been listening to others weigh in on it too! I loved hearing your thoughts Vera!!!! This topic reminds me of a country song ...I was Country When Country Wasn't Cool ... Barbara Mandrell. 😁 I could honestly say I was (country) before it was trendy lol. With minimalism I came into it around 2018 ... I have no plans to abandon the lifestyle in fact I just keep peeling the onion and simplifying!!!! It's so personal how we evolve what we keep! I'm constantly reminding myself that my simple more minimal home will not look like anyone else's! Maybe people who wanted the "look" of minimalism but didn't dig deeper and personalize it might now be regretful and over it! I have a huge framed, matted map and 2 antique snowshoes hanging above my office table ... these things make me very happy ... I won't find that particular style in any magazine lol!!!!!
As far as I'm concerned minimalism is still "IN"!! I just came across your channel just about a few months ago and I think I have always been a minimalist, I've been decluttering , donating, getting rid of things my entire adult life , I have minimalized my apartment and love the new look , clutter free, let's keep this MINIMALISM going!!! It's 2023 and I've been reading about, seeing, hearing, watching videos about minimalism every day- it hasn't gone away and it won't ! Simple Happy Zen- keep posting about minimalism, I am listening !
A very thought through reflection on the topic! There will always be people living in a minimalist way, wheter they know it or not. But when it is trendy it is the time where people easier can come together around it and we get shared vocabulary for what we do. Minimalism as a trend has given me easy access to a lot of information I otherwise wouldn't have had. It made me go learn things faster than if it wasn't a trend in the last years. But I have always felt a little bit off in the consumerism world and have always just had one bag or one pair of shoes (per season) that I used up until I needed new ones. And I remember feeling something was off in my late teens when suddenly I had massive ammounts of clothes when I no longer grew and therefor there were no too small things to pass on to others, but still a lot I didn't wear. So I still decided to pass on those clothes that just took up so much space, even if they still fitted me. (We always passed on too small clothes in my family as I was a kid, so the "decluttering" just happened by itself then.)
Hi Vera, I found myself watching craft and thrift channels... whilst trapped at home. Im guessing that because people were more confined to their homes, life became more about home and garden. Travel was off the menu. I found myself getting caught up with ideas of creativity, which entailed clutter; turning objects into works of art? This has caused me conflict. I can only say that the excitement I felt when I discovered your channel was for me. I think I will try to get back on the wagon and just go wild with my garden. Vera, you are a truly delightful person. I do really appreciate and get you. Ann🎶🍁🦋🍀
Amazing clip. I have been following this practice for 10 years but see my self moving more towards a more balanced and intentionality . I don’t think such extreme rules apply for me I feel more balanced now. Seems like many of us are moving that direction.
I subscribe you when i was in college (2018 i guess) and now im graduated and working with nice paid as a fresh graduate. I realise when i was a teenager im such a hoarder and buy many things impulsively (honestly its my parents) now i moved to another city alone with no fams and friend then i started minimalism lifestyle and really enjoyed it. 🥰
Thank you for being a part of this channel for so long, and I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the minimalist lifestyle! :) Take care and have a great day
I came acroos the term 'minimilism' through bullet journnalling because, although I admire and like to look ar all thewonderfully illustrated, I just wanted mine to be easy to look at and to work. So I came across your channel by accident. I didn't know mi imilism was a trend I'm far too old for trends! I just found your videos interesting and sensible and it seemed the that what I wanted in my bullet journal could be applied to the rest of my life. That isn't affected by trends.
If someone was being a minimalist because it was trendy, that kind of defeats many aspects of minimalism. Not being swept up in trends is a big part of a minimalist mindset, so if you decide not to be a minimalist because it’s no longer the cool thing, that seems counterproductive. While a trend maybe is going out, the product of that trend can stick around as long as you personally want it to. Besides, like most trends, it will probably be back in about twenty years or so, anyway.
Haha yes very true :) You gotta love the irony of minimalism saying we don't have to follow all the trends and keep up with the Joneses, but then minimalism itself having been trendy :)
I've been on a minimalist journey since I experienced a house fire about 15 years ago, when I learned that nothing is permanent. I really began in earnest after I read Marie Kondo's books and watched the first documentary from The Minimalists. Not sure what came first, but then there were capsule wardrobes, tiny houses, decluttering, etc. I now live in a studio apartment and only bring in things I love. Most all of my purchases are from thrift stores, and I continuously curate my possessions.
Wow such an amazing story! I'm so sorry to hear about your house fire, but I'm happy to see minimalism has brought you so much value :) Have a happy Monday!
Definitely has become a forever life style for me. I love it. I may not be as minimalist as some, but I'm in a very peaceful place and have no intention of going back! BTW, I Love your hair style today!
I think it fading as a fad is just a sign of how many people never really ‘got it’ or adopted it as a ‘lifestyle’ but we’re actually only going through the motions solely because it was trendy. Those who really experienced the life changing benefits and mindset shift will continue to experience them long after the trend.
im not over minimalism for me to hear about it keeps me on top of things this to me is like a reminder love your videos keep doing what your doing thank you
Hi Vera. We are just on the way in this minimalism process... It's a hapiness process,. If the process is interesting and calming it will not vanished... Thanks.. enjoy moments 🎉🎉
I’m just trying to stop hoarding and reduce the amount of things that I own/buy… I’ve never cared about whether it was “trendy” or not. Love the tips and advice you give on your channel, it’s about living a simpler happier life :)
I love how you mention your covid purchase... a lot of TH-cam channels seem so extreme with no room for being human and real; it's refreshing. Also, I think there is a post-covid freedom factor which may have something to do with this movement away from minimalism. People may have felt restricted for so long. They couldn't do fun things that they used to. A "you only live once" mentality may have kicked in dor some. Buying "stuff" may just feel good (in the moment) and people may want to treat themselves after feeling so restricted. I noticed that I have loosened the reins, per se, on shopping recently, - splurging a little for myself, which I haven't done in a long while.
Thank you for all your videos. I am a regular viewer of your videos on decluttering and minimalism. I feel more happy than ever before ❤🤗 lots of love from India 🇮🇳
I don't think it's dead. It's the label, preconceived idea of it that's dead. What's behind it, as you said, is very much alive. A desire to live a rich, meaningful life. Always enjoy your videos. TY ❤️
Vera, I appreciate your videos greatly! Minimalism IS here to stay. As you stated it is has been around for a very long time, which makes me think of the religious sects who elect to live a minimal life style. I am in the process of decluttering my home now that my children are on their own. Your videos are so inspiring! Thank you!
I really hope minimalism isn’t over. I think we live in such a consumer driven society and now that a lot of countries are trying to return to “normal” after the pandemic, it feels like people are shopping more than ever to keep economies boosted. Minimalism is still going to be a journey for me because I’m still finding myself burnt out on how many material objects I buy.
I started getting into minimalism during the pandemic shortly after I lost my job and it has honestly helped me so much. I still have quite a way to go, but I personally believe it's something everyone should try.
I can see why the pandemic had such an effect. The need for calm and less stress was dire. For me I am still working on having less and there are areas that still bother me in my home. Minimilism has become a part of me and the way I look at everything now. I never want to go back. My dream is to live in extreme simplicity! But I think for me the process of decluttering has halted because it has freed up so much room in my heart and soul now to think about what I truly want in life. But everyday I enjoy the simplicity of my life and home. Today I got my email from 4k down to 1 emails. And the one email was your email about this video! I ❤ your videos Vera thank you 😊 Your video about the tricky clutter had some great tips. The book/unread book idea! I had never thought of that I had to go do that right away. Going to have to watch that video again!
Thanks Vera! I'm just beginning my decluttering and minimalism journey, and seeing all these "is minimalism dead" videos was starting to discourage me!
I won't give up neither decluttering nor minimalism. It has already helped and still helps me to not feel overwhelmed by the stuff I have to care for because I simply decrease the number of items I have since 2019. Being an HSP this minimalism thing will never be out of trend for me regardless how it's going to be named.
Awesome video, Vera! It was very informative and especially insightful on what is going on currently. I personally am not very minimal in practice but always keep in mind minimalist concepts when making lifestyle decisions. It's always a great check and balance to have. Thank you for touching on this topic in a wise way. Have a great weekend, and keep up the good work.
Minimalisme is a mindset now for me... Think about my shopping. I'm not frugal all the time but mindful when I buy (like things I really want or wanna do). If everyone in the world would be ( even a mini) minimalist, we wouldnt be in this mess where in... Useless stuff is killing our planet. I definaly re use things, to go repairshops etc... No more throwing away what can be fixed! Mindful what I buy etc Minimalisme is great and will stay for sure💖💖💖
Minimalism has become a way of life for our family, and we are all practicing it! So thank you for your advice, Vera. Your videos are positive and soothing and nice to watch because of your lifestyle. We spent more time in our home during the pandemic, so we sorted through our things and decided what to keep and what to donate or give away. It was a lot of work. But the end result is shelves, closets and spaces that are decluttered. Also, we’ve changed the way we think. Now if we go into a store it’s for something specific. And we ask ourselves, do we really love it? Or will we be donating it in a year? That has cut down on spending and clutter.Grateful for your tips.
I literally just did a video on this too 🤣 it’s definitely a topic that people have been thinking about recently! Loved your video and hearing about your journey 💚
I completely aggree! With how the world is going, I doubt minimalism is going to come to an end soon. Of course, the pure "trend" will fade, but given that we live in a world that is affected by less ressources, rising prices, less living space and other things, living a minimalistic, frugal and sustainable lifestyle is going to be a necessity rather than a lifestyle choice.
Since I've become more minimal, I find I'm not going to go back. It makes sense to me and I associate it with well being so I'm going to be more minimal all my life. I see well being, meditation, minimalism as combined. I find your broad ranging videos really inspiring because they are relatable, fresh, creative, practical, clear and refreshing. I like minimalism and I think everyone will think about it to some degree in their lives.
I have to agree with a few others who mention the word 'intentionalism' as I have stated before I am an inbetweenist. I also think the size of a person's house also dictates how much is either too much or too little. A small home can be over cluttered and a large home can just look too bare and unwelcoming, it is all about finding that balance that suits the person their lifestyle and what sort of house they live in. Love your videos, keep up the great work as they help many of us to stop and consider what is and what is not really needed. I just do not want to leave my sons a house full of 'stuff' that they will then have to dispose of it is not fair on them.
Yes, good point about the size of the house. Living smaller will easily make things look more cluttered. I personally wouldn't want a really big house, I think :) Thanks and have a nice day!
Will always be a minimalist. I enjoy clutter free home and my wardrobe. Makes my life better. No it's not dead in my opinion. Always enjoy your video content.
Personally , Minimalism is my refuge, my very personal oasis of peace and content . It started with material possessions and now it has grown inside my mind becoming part of my intuition and I see clearly like never seen before, what’s important what is not. So, perhaps what started as a trend it’s now my life and I’m very greatful❤️
I'm so glad I'm a minimalist at heart and been that way since a child. It has never been a trend for me. But when it became a trend I finally found a name for who I am.
I think for the people who are serious about living a mindful minimalist lifestyle will always be minimalists.Trends come and go but there will always be people who live sinfully I believe. I agree with you about the pandemic and how people are buying things and picking up hobbies to keep themselves busy and occupied.
Thanks for watching! 🤗 What do YOU think about all this? 🌾🍵
@@SueW111 I agree about minimalism 😄 And thank you for the content suggestion!
If people were viewing minimalism as a trend, they were missing the point.
Yes! This!
You are so right Jane :)
Absolutely! It's not a trend. It's a lifestyle. A smart one. 😊
YES that makes total sense!! Thanks Carmen, loved the comparison!
Me too
Carmen I entirely agree with you 👏👏
I think minimalism and slower, intentional living is mostly about ignoring what’s trendy to buy, and do, and focusing on what is important for you. So who cares if minimalism isn’t trendy anymore. I honestly didn’t even know it was trendy! lol The more trendy something is, the less I’m interested in it.
Hahaha yes, well said Gretchen 😄
I agree.
Same for me
Totally agree with you Gretchen 😊
Who cares if something is trendy if you like it!🤍
I never thought of Minimalism as a “ trend “ but as a way of living a simpler life !
Yay! 😄
I totally understand that, thank you for sharing your experiences Chiara. Take care and have a lovely weekend!
I agree with you. I had started paring down before lockdown but during all this time I’ve gotten rid of more and more.
Ah that's a good comparison! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Carol, and have a lovely weekend!!
“The sweater is a coincidence” Hey girl we love seeing pieces of clothing you wore then and still wear now!
😄
Lots of love from Germany 💕
Thank you so much! I appreciate that 🤗🌷
I agree. Seems like so many have jumped on making minimalist video. Becomes repetitive. So I watch less. Minimalism is still relevant.
That's amazing!! Congrats on all that progress with decluttering! :)
I agree minimalism is on the same page as slow living, intentional living etc. Your channel will grow no matter what because your fabulous :)
Aw thank you Lynby, that's so kind! 💕🤗 Take care and have a great day today
I'm very focused on it. Still going strong on decluttering and buying less. I agree with you: it's here to stay. Living a simpler life is my intention. Thank you for your advice on many subjects.
That's great to hear Margarete! Wishing you lots of luck with decluttering and buying less 🤗💖
Loved reading your comment Christina, thanks for sharing your thoughts! And for keeping the animals and the environment in your thoughts as well 😍
I could not agree more...
That's amazing! :)
I absolutely agree with Gretchen. Having a lot of stuff makes me feel “heavy”. Minimalism will always be my way of life. Less is more for me. Love you Vera.
Yay, love that!! thank you Jennifer, take care and have a wonderful day
Minimalism didn’t even start yet! Keep doing this great job, girl! ❤️
😍💕🤗
I search for “minimalism” less because I got the information. I am using the wonderful tips and guidance, and it has become part of my life. I check in to minimalism again when I get stuck or when I feel a need. Love all your videos, Vera, thank you for giving us your insight.
Thank you so much Janet, I totally get that about when to look up information :)
As always you are so inspiring! To me it is no trend and it goes beyond owning less stuff. It took me out of my material world and I live now with intention. It has added value to my life and brought me joy. ❤️🤗
Yay, so happy to hear that Lucy 😍😍
I think people interested in minimalism have learned something from that "trend" even if they say they are over it. I don't give myself any labels but I do apply now minimalism in my life. I ask myself much more questions before buying anything (do I need it? do I have already something that could be converted into this new idea of mine...) I also try not to keep things I don't use. I try to avoid duplicates and waste....
That's great! 😄👍🏻
I love that! :) Thanks for sharing and have a nice day today!
Hahaha they're cute huh 😄 Not mine though unfortunatly.... 😆
I think minimalism is not dead but it has now become a habit so I don't have to really push myself to practice it I have become used to it I find myself more meaningful, happy and content now I apply minimalism in every area of my life even without realising it consiously
So happy to hear that minimalism has brought you so much value already! 🤗
What a wonderful and insighful vídeo! Congrats Vera!! Love your content!!
Thank you so much Júlia, that's so kind of you to say :) Thank for the good vibes, have a wonderful day!
Minimalism the trend may die, but minimalism the lifestyle will continue on!💖
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and I'm so sorry you're dealing with health issues and stress... Sending you some good vibes
Nope we are still here for minimalism.
😍
Cozy minimalism is here to stay in my home. I've never been the kind of person to follow a particular trend or fashion, I just do things that support my well-being. :)
Love that!!! :) Thanks Erin, take care and have a nice rest of your day
I stumbled upon 'Minimalism' about five years ago when my home had been inundated by a large group of people, which had been going on for a few years.
I love that! :) Well said!
Great comment, and love the nicer measuring spoons example 😄
I was listening to you while drinking coffee..I agree with you its a trend..however if your intention to live a simple and happy life definitely it will be a long journey but it will be there for good:) Absolute happiness can be achieved with less..its a matter of mindset..a fan from Manila,Philippines.Keep up a good content..you are doing great.;)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for drinking a cup of coffee with me! 🤗☕
Thx Vera! I've always been a minimalist...although I've been labeled by some family as being cheap! I prefer spending money on traveling than on possessions.
I love your videos, no trends matter ♥
Thank you so much 🤗✨🌷
Hi Vera for me minimalism is here to stay. 😘
That's awesome! Thanks Chantal, you have a great weekend too
love this! i'd love to hear more from you about nutrition and health. i think the past year + brought so much attention to health and wellness.
Thank you Kiki! :) Actually, I'm getting ready to film a video for TH-cam about that topic in a few weeks :) Hope you're doing well!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, definitely agree with minimalism not being dependent on trends :)
I’ve always lived a moderate minimalist lifestyle because too many things around me make me jittery. My home doesn’t necessarily look minimalist. I have a hutch with all my portmeirion displayed but I only have what I love and edit my belongings all the time. Great video Vera. 👍🏻
That's lovely :) Thanks Tina, take care and have a great weekend!
Minimalism and intentional living/consuming, and decluttering have been life changing for me. It is not dead in my world. Keep on doing the hat you are doing, I love your videos and your outlook.
Thank you so much Sally for your compliment, and I'm so happy to hear minimalism has brought you so much value! :)
Trends are for people who can't think for themselves. The rest of us just like what we like! I just started looking into minimalism in depth recently and am loving it. I'd also say that these days it's needed even more so than before - with everything going on in the world, it can provide a sense of calm. Thank you for all of your videos! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, so happy you're enjoying minimalism! I agree about the sense of calm :)
These comments are exactly what I wanted to say exactly. Minimalism is a thing of it's own standing on its own two feet it's not intended to be trendy but helpful. All your topics are awesome Vera thanks for sharing 🌸
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Deborah, I completely agree 😊 Hope you're doing well!!
Minimalism is a practical way to collect items you frequently use.
That's a cool way of looking at it :)
I love your voice on Saturday night. It makes the night so peaceful. Thanks a lot!
Aw thank you for including me in your Saturday evenings 🤗🍐🌻
@@SimpleHappyZen you’re welcome.
Thank you so much for the kind words Maximilian, and for sharing your thoughts!
I feel this is the best way to make people understand what minimalism truly is 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for your kind compliment Dominique :) Have a wonderful day!
I just recently starter my minimalism journey so for me it’s very much alive and an ongoing process, regardless of its trend status.
The fact that people are thinking minimalism as a trend are in a wrong boat. Minimalism, slow living, having peace within you is a lifestyle. And certainly I dnt follow trends. I wud hv NVR watched this video if it wasn't from you Vera.
Tc lots of love ❤️
Thank you so much, I appreciate that :) And I agree about the trends vs lifestyle !! :)
minimalism is a way of life, not a trend lol if someone practices minimalism because it's popular, they aren't a minimalist- they just cleaned up/got rid of stuff
That being said, that's still great, even if it doesn't become their school of thought
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, definitely a way of life for me too :) Have a great day
@@SimpleHappyZen you, too! 🥰
I love your channel, and I did find you quite awhile ago when I put minimalism into search bar… I am so glad when you post a new video… xo
Vera we both have the same matcha tea cups lol
Thank you so much Christine and I'm also really glad you found my channel!! Also about the matcha cups that's so cool! They're one of my favorite things haha, so beautiful 🍵 Enjoy them!!
@@SimpleHappyZen one of my favorite things too, I use them for soup as well xo
Loved reading your comment, very sensible! :) Thanks for sharing and have a great day
Such an excellent video. I love your content more now than ever because of your stand on this. Much love and support from North Carolina, USA ❤️🙂
Aw thank you so much Lisa!! 😍 That means a lot to me. Take care and have a nice day today!
I'm so glad you did this video topic .... I've been listening to others weigh in on it too! I loved hearing your thoughts Vera!!!!
This topic reminds me of a country song ...I was Country When Country Wasn't Cool ... Barbara Mandrell. 😁
I could honestly say I was (country) before it was trendy lol.
Yay, I love that! Thanks for sharing Chris and have a wonderful weekend!!!
Not ending for me! Living simple has changed my life.
Great! :)
I just love you Vera, you have helped me in ways I can't even say... please always stay on TH-cam creating videos 🙏
Yes, great points! Thank you :) Have a wonderful day!
Ann🎶🍁🦋🍀
Thank you so much Ann for your kind words! :) I wish you lots of fun wiht your garden 🌻
3:26 lol I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out, but it's a good proof that your life style, so it's actually pretty cool.
Haha thank you! I only noticed it when I was editing the video lol
Oh I absolutely love that! So glad you came across my content 🤗🌷
Minimalism has reduced the stress in my life. I will never go back to how I used to live. Thanks for this thoughtful and interesting video! 💚💚💚
So happy to hear you're enjoying the minimalist lifestyle Sandra! :) Take care and have a lovely day
Beautiful message. Great video. Thank you! 👏😍👏😍
Thank you so much! 🤗🌺
Well said, so happy you're enjoying living with less! :) Also, thanks so much hihi :)

I think it fading as a fad is just a sign of how many people never really ‘got it’ or adopted it as a ‘lifestyle’ but we’re actually only going through the motions solely because it was trendy. Those who really experienced the life changing benefits and mindset shift will continue to experience them long after the trend.
im not over minimalism for me to hear about it keeps me on top of things this to me is like a reminder love your videos keep doing what your doing thank you
Thank you so much Robin! :) Take care and have a nice day
Hi Vera. We are just on the way in this minimalism process... It's a hapiness process,. If the process is interesting and calming it will not vanished... Thanks.. enjoy moments 🎉🎉
I agree! :) Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about it, have a nice weekend!
Ah yes very interesting, I definitely think that's true! :) Thanks for sharing Naomi, take care and have a nice day today
Thank you for all your videos. I am a regular viewer of your videos on decluttering and minimalism. I feel more happy than ever before ❤🤗 lots of love from India 🇮🇳
That's so lovely to hear, thank you!! :)
Awesome 🙂💕💚💕🙂 I tend to like minimalism as a philosophy.
Me too! 😄
I don't think it's dead. It's the label, preconceived idea of it that's dead. What's behind it, as you said, is very much alive. A desire to live a rich, meaningful life. Always enjoy your videos. TY ❤️
I agree! Thank you Joan 💕😊 Happy Monday!
Good video!. I liked decluttering and taking minimalism into affect. Makes sense to carry on living without as much and without the title too.
Yes, we can do without the trendy part 😄
@@SimpleHappyZen Happy well wishes to a new trend for your chanel.
Vera, I appreciate your videos greatly! Minimalism IS here to stay. As you stated it is has been around for a very long time, which makes me think of the religious sects who elect to live a minimal life style. I am in the process of decluttering my home now that my children are on their own. Your videos are so inspiring! Thank you!
Thank you Sharon and I wish you all the best with your decluttering goals!
Hi there, thanks for sharing! I'm so sorry to hear you lost your job, I hope things will work out for you!
No need to get discouraged! 😄 There will always be lots of people practicing it and you can too 😄
I won't give up neither decluttering nor minimalism. It has already helped and still helps me to not feel overwhelmed by the stuff I have to care for because I simply decrease the number of items I have since 2019. Being an HSP this minimalism thing will never be out of trend for me regardless how it's going to be named.
Love that! Thanks for sharing Corinna, hope you're having a great day 🤗
Awesome video, Vera!
Hi Justin, thanks! Love what you said about minimalism being a great way to check and have balance :)
Love that, thank you Chantal and thanks for keeping our planet in your thoughts as well! :)
Loved reading your comment, thank you Sandy!! Take care and have a great day
I'm still working on minimalism. It is beneficial to my peace of mind.
Happy you're finding value in exploring minimalism :)
I literally just did a video on this too 🤣 it’s definitely a topic that people have been thinking about recently! Loved your video and hearing about your journey 💚
Thanks so much and yes, definitely. It's got people thinking haha :) Good luck with your channel!
@@SimpleHappyZen Thank you :)
this video brought me a kind of inner peace 🌿✨
Yay, so happy to hear it Gabi :) Enjoy the Dutch fall weather! :)
Thank you so much Michael!! 🤗🌺
I agree! :) Thank you Claire, have a great day!
Amazing!!! :)
