Dolphins chasing Kahawai - plus Bonus Footage

- This entire video was filmed with a drone the size of my hand and a wide angle lens with no zoom. In places I am so close to the ocean that you can see the propellers making ripples on the water surface. The drone is 1km away at times and only a metre above the ocean... real nerve wracking stuff!
Filming fast moving dolphins that are feeding is very hard because they aren't swimming straight. They're going in all directions and all angles and you never know where they are going to come up next once they go underwater.
Filmed in the Catlins, South Otago, New Zealand

hell of a view over the rivers mouth to the sea...cheers
We live in paradise. Thanks for posting this wonderful footage.
Amazing footage mate 😳
Nice video, you captured some amazing footage! Also great to see Kahawai around in such healthy numbers. I guess it's likely the result of the commercial regulation changes, which if I remember correctly was around 2008 to 2010. We are probably seeing the results of the recovery period.
let's hope so aye and thanks for the comment.
I remember seeing schools like that in my youth at the river mouths of Mid Canterbury. Nobody was interested in them because they were chasing salmon.
Are the kahawai breeding
feeding on krill
