I'm re reading this series for the second time halfway thru A Memory Of Light this fantasy series is so EPIC I feel bad for people who don't want to read especially this series
I'm only about half way through the series and am loving it. I can't believe I still have another 8 books ahead of me. I already know that when I finish I will be starting from the beginning to get a whole new grasp on everything that is happening
I wonder how this will work over time since there are 14 books to adapt. ASoFAI only had 5 books to adapt since the rest have to be published. Both series have the loads of characters tropes so some might have to be adapted out or combined with other characters.
@@44kryth have you read ASoIF??? GRRM spends far too many paragraphs describing sexual encounters, particularly Daenerys, and others. I refer you to the infamous "pink mast" line. He also accurately portrays the violence of his world. He doesn't hold back. HBO in fact toned down the nudity for the main characters. And in some cases they also toned down the violence, especially in Esos and the Iron Islands. So no, GRRM's world wasn't all fairies and unicorns and all of a sudden HBO turned it into violent porn. Oh it ended up being trash, but not because of the violence and sexual content, but because D&D are moronic hacks

He was able to use Saidar through Moiraine and Nynaeve, Saidin, AND the True Power through Moridin. The true power provided the protection he needed to repair the bore fully, without providing an opportunity for a counterstroke. If he hadn't been protected, the dark one could have tainted both halves.
It sounds to me that the dark one was created by the creator, but the dark one betrayed the creator. You could say he is like Lucifer betraying God. Seeing how God wanted both man and women to work together as one. That is the reason for Sadin and Saidar. We are suppose to be one with each other in marriage and so forth.

The cast and crew seem to be making a serious effort to adapt this to tv as well as they can, but Amazon is having it chopped down to fit into their preferred length of time and removing too much of the story.

What happened was actually the best case scenario in a way, if the females had helped, both Saidin and Saidar would have been tainted. They would solve the immediate problem but probably completely destroy the world when they both went mad. Since only men went mad, the females were around to stop them before they destroyed the entire world. *Spoilers Follow* Then when the Dragon reborn came, he discovered they needed a third magic source, the True Power to help shield Saidin and Saidar. They didn't know that in the age of legends and they needed an immediate end to the war, so the men sacrificing themselves while the women stayed on to protect it, was the best possible outcome at the time.

While there is a *huge* amount of detail, the story can be enjoyed and understood without digging into those details. It is on subsequent re-reads that many small details and foreshadowing become evident. As for names and pronunciation, each book has a glossary at the back, but even many of super fans still get names wrong. I suggest going ahead and reading it: the payoff in the last books make it more than worth the time. *Do not* search anything on line, there will be major spoilers. If you finish the books, there are huge amounts of info to clarify and explain things further than is found in the books.

For reference: I've read The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and more a few dozen times, and Wheel of Time over a dozen times so far. While Wheel of Time was strongly inspired by Lord of the Rings, most, if not all of the concepts in the Wheel of Time predate Lord of the Rings by centuries. The Eye of the World plot is *very* similar to Lord of the Rings, but after that it heads its own direction, and subverts a lot of the tropes of Lord of the Rings and other fantasy works. It is also for more realistic and relatable in many ways.

It is absolutely nothing like the silmarillion. Both Morgoth and the dark one are obvious Satan analogues. The name shaitan is literally Arabic for demon/devil

Not even Tolkien was original when making his work. Elves, Dwarves are not his creation, but borrowings, and many of his work is taken by European folklore and some christian influence. Stop thinking everything revolves around Muh Tulhkeen
For reference: I've read The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and more a few dozen times, and Wheel of Time over a dozen times so far.
While Wheel of Time was strongly inspired by Lord of the Rings, most, if not all of the concepts in the Wheel of Time predate Lord of the Rings by centuries. The Eye of the World plot is *very* similar to Lord of the Rings, but after that it heads its own direction, and subverts a lot of the tropes of Lord of the Rings and other fantasy works. It is also for more realistic and relatable in many ways.
