The “let’s go pay the piper beneath the old liberty tree” line refers to choosing to go die defending liberty. Which is pretty metal considering many of these characters likely died in the war.
Put another way: Americans would rather die on their feet than live on their knees.

We're all Americans. No matter what race, creed, beliefs or whatever other trait we or others assign to us, we're all part of this great nation. We need to remember that fact, today. Especially today. Which is why what you said NEEDs to happen. The government, both state and federal, needs to remember that they serve the people, and are beholden to them.

    • @tonycoffman1324
      @tonycoffman1324 หลายเดือนก่อน

I agree with the sentiment, but unfortunately something so patriotic will never happen again. The country has been broken in half. Trump destroyed any kind of peaceful discussion about any topic. He created another civil war. It's a slower civil war, but that's exactly what it is. So far we haven't been armed in the streets shooting each other, but that tension is building. If trump wins again it will happen. He will go after the black and brown people instantly, and then he will start going after the organizations that speak out against him. The news papers, the radio stations, the magazines, the tv stations, the websites, the podcasts. Any outlets that speak ill of him. He has said it. He means it. It will quickly turn into a civil war. An actual violent civil war. It will be more than his stupid war on shit he doesn't like. It will come to spilling blood. That is a fact. We all have to vote against him, but we also need to vote in a blue house, and keep a blue senate so we can finally get rid of the electoral college. That's the only way to keep our democracy.

Johnny Tremain really isn’t a very educational novel. It’s set in the lead up to the Revolution, sure, but all it really tells people is that the Sons of Liberty met in secret and planned things and that the Battles of Lexington and Concord happened. Most American kids of any generation know that by the time they hit fifth grade.

Spartan 212 I am surprised that teachers still show this in history class or social studies. I'm 29 years old now. Since this is a movie about a group of men having the right to bear arms to defend themselves in a time where everyone is becoming liberal with ditacting what you can or cannot say using the term "politically correct" or trying to ban guns so ppl who are mature and responsible enough and do use it to defend themselves will have it taken away then they can't defend themselves. But if you liked the movie. I suggest reading the book. The book is fantastic

      @@jimmylondo4552
Nobody is trying to ban guns altogether, nor is anyone trying to take guns away from responsible people who know how to use them properly, as you imply.
All we want are stricter firearms regulations to keep them out of the hands of people who should never be trusted with deadly weapons, like those with criminal records, and/or histories of violence and/or mental illness, because such persons are more likely to use such weapons, not for self defense, but for committing mass murder, like in the shootings at schools, where teachers, staffs, and students alike are killed or wounded. (Columbine, Uvalde, etc.)
The killers in those cases were allowed to have guns, even though they were already violent and disturbed individuals. Background checks would have kept all firearms out of their possession and would have prevented them from murdering on such grand scales. Background checks have been used before and they do work.
Before you start citing the Second Amendment guarantee of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms," let me remind that this right only applies to the right of each state to maintain "a well regulated Militia" for its own protection. Unfortunately, too many people dwell on the second half of the amendment (the "right of the people to keep and bear arms" clause), and completely ignore the first half (the "well regulated Militia" cause).
Amendment 2 was meant to be applied COLLECTIVELY, NOT INDIVIDUALLY. It was never intended to be a license for any lunatic to obtain as many guns as he or she wants, without a proper permit, a reasonable background check, or being carefully trained in the correct use of a firearm.
In fact, the biggest supporters of firearms regulations are LEGITIMATE GUN OWNERS, and incidentally so was the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION (NRA), back in the day.

I had to read “Johnny Tremain” in 1967 or ‘68 but I think I watched this a few years earlier. Even at the age of 10 or so, I thought it was a little silly how one or two men just break into song while marching and soon all the marchers and bystanders are belting this out in perfect unison - but regardless, it was still catchy and memorable. That’s why I just searched for it, to hear it again, 60+ years later.

I remember seeing this movie in elementary school, and definitely recall the catchy tune. But this film says a lot more about what people in the 1950s thought of the American Revolution than any kind of accurate portrayal of that period in history.

    • @BOORAGG
      @BOORAGG 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly what part of this was historically inaccurate? It must admitted that there were none of todays sociopathic weazels in so-called 'reality' flims of the period. Of course the moral fiber of the country was much stronger then than.

For one thing they were not protesting the British raising the taxes on tea; they were protesting them LOWERING IT. A half dozen Massachusetts businessmen were getting rich smuggling tea & undercutting the competition. Lowering the tax would make them less competitive. So they gave a bunch of local thugs some alcohol & money to dump the King’s tea in Boston Harbor. All in the name of “freedom”.
Our schools teach propaganda, not history.

    • @JS-fe8sx
      @JS-fe8sx 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@BOORAGG I enjoy the film very much but it is inaccurate. There were three ships not one. None of the bigger leaders were there (i. e. Sam Adams, etc), they were at another location for what we would call Plausible Deniability. Not all of them were dressed as “Indians”, there was a good sized crowd watching from the dock, it took I believe about three hours, whole chests, once axed open were thrown in the water not bags, the tea was cakes not leaf tea as you would use to brew. As I said, however none of that really matters to me, I like this production very much.

Walt Disney himself was patriotic and his love for the United States was well shown in these movies.
The fact is this movie came out in 1957 and Walt was a producer for this film. This film was very good and from it - the strong sense of patriotism especially with this scene.

"Johnny Tremain" is actually the main reason why I joined the US Army and wanted to live the life of a solider before I got too old. I have been trained as an Infantrymen @ Fort Hood. I just finished the book and I am letting it settle in before I start the movie in a couple of days. I hope they remake this someday and stick to the main source and dont go woke with it, because Disney used to be so proud of making American frontiermens movies and about American history, about wild Indians and pirates and the Wild West. Plant the seed in our homeland, boys. Let it grow where all can see
Feed it with our devotion, boys. Call it the Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
    And a strong old Tree
    And we are the Sons
    Yes, we are the Sons
    The Sons of Liberty
Save it from the storm, boys. Water down its roots with tea
And the sun will always shine on the old Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
    And a strong old Tree
    And we are the Sons
    Yes, we are the Sons
    The Sons of Liberty
March along with the piper, boys. We were born forever free
Let’s go pay the piper, boys, beneath the Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
    And a strong old Tree
    And we are the Sons
    Yes, we are the Sons
    The Sons of Liberty.
Pay the price they’re asking, boys. Always pay the tyrant’s fee
Never give up the struggle, boys. Fight for the Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
    And a strong old Tree
    And we are the Sons
    Yes, we are the Sons
    The Sons of Liberty
Stand for the rights of man, boys. Stand against all tyranny
Hang the lamps of freedom, boys, high on the Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
    And a strong old Tree
    And we are the Sons
    Yes, we are the Sons
    The Sons of Liberty
And it will grow as we grow, boys. It will be as strong as we
We must cling to our faith, boys-faith in the Liberty Tree
    It’s a tall old Tree
