Yeah - rear seats are a little tight if those in the front have legs 😉. Also wish Hyundai would upgrade this version of BlueLink to support wireless phone projection.
You are exaggerating. The back seat is tight for tall people, but I literally just watched another video io TH-cam showing someone 6ft 2 hop in the back seat and fit. So, people much taller than 5 ft 4 can ride in back if the front seat occupants use some common sense and don't put their seats all the way back and allow some leg room for rear passengers. If you have a family of 5 tall and wide people, this is the wrong vehicle, but if you occasionally want to be able to carry 2 adults in back for short trips, it can be done easily.
@@stevehammes 5ft 4 is not the cutoff though. It's fine that they "don't want to" ride in the back seat and would prefer to ride in a larger vehicle. It's still works for occasional use and they can deal with it. I've seen adults get in the back of Mustangs and this is not comparable to that. If you need to carry tall adults in back regularly (household members commuting together daily etc.), this is not the best choice. However, you can carry average size adults without much issue if you use some common sense of putting the tallest in the front and don't push the front seats back so far that there is no room for legs in the back seat.
I attended an EV festival last Fall and a number of Kona owners had indicated they had recalls for the batteries along with other issues that required them to leave their cars with Hyundai dealership for weeks to be repair. Beware and stay inform before buying a Kona.
@@stevehammes I'm with you. I just cannot stand the Tesla exterior (some other reviewer described it as jelly beans, Lol), and especially the spartan interior with the huge iPad. Most things require it for function, that's a HUGE negative in my book. I prefer physical controls, be it knobs or buttons. I'm deciding between Kona EV or Niro EV. Any thoughts on that? Thank you!!!

Wow! Not bad! I'll have to keep Hyundai in mind when I go shopping for my next car (which I mandated has to be a full EV). I thought the Tesla Model 3 was the best cheap EV, and while the range may be higher, this certainly is a contender, especially with the larger size and more traditional design.
I tested a Kona EV Limited a couple of months back. It's really a fun and sporty little car. If it were a little larger and offered in AWD I would have strongly considered a purchase. I ended up putting a deposit on a VW ID.4 Pro S AWD, and a Hyundai Tucson Limited PHEV AWD as well. Whichever one shows up first is the one I'll purchase. PS: Both deposits are refundable
i have a 22 model, for the most part i like it..... done 2600 miles so far and not even cost me £50 yet (lots of free public chargers here in scotland) , its smooth comfortable (non leather seats) quiet, responsive.......BUT, build quality only gets a 8/10 as if you put all 4 windows down an inch or 2 to clean the very top edge, you can move them all from side to side, like they aint bolted in good, the brakes squeel for the last mph coming to a stop, the cabin heater is garbage (and you need it here) but the range is close to 300 miles even here (was 250 in dead of winter when i got it) cant charge from home so needed this range and as a 1st full EV i would have to say i would recommend one. i find myself going for a drive just for the hell of it
The front looks very nice in black. The tail end does not seem to match the front styling, however. Not a big deal, but it is a shame. I prefer the style to be consistent so it looks like one car, not two cars glued together.
I looked at a Kona, but the back seat was nominal. When my wife adjusted the passenger seat to what she considered minimal legroom, she couldn't sit behind herself. The Kona is only useful as a family car if your kids are small or your whole family is very short.
Love this video! Glad you’re enjoying! Thanks for the look. I’ll go fire up my Niro EV, and we can drag race for pinks. Sounds like you need an F-150 Lightning Raptor (if that’s a thing) to get you back into the great outdoors!
Does the high center console area bother your right knee at all? I sat in a Kona the other day and it just seemed like my right knee/leg would be knocking a lot on that console.
Re your comment on bikes/kayaks: one of the reasons I chose the Kona over the ID3 was that I can fit a roof rack (for kayaks) and tow hitch (for bike rack). I have been able to do that on my 2021 in the UK, it's crazy they don't support that in your market!
I’m jealous. Only the gas model offers those options. And because I’m leasing I don’t feel comfortable with some of the available aftermarket solutions that may damage the paint.

I got the european vesion back in august and this car is GREAT! Well, I don't have any experience with other electric cars to make a comparison, but I can say by now that I'm in love with this model. Mine came with the HUD, by the way. It's very handy and I ask myself how I was able to drive a car without it before.
I only would prefer it charging port to be on the side, to be honest. I've already had some problems with public charges to reach the plug to the charging port without having to park perpendicularly to the sidewalk. This specific charging station was one parking spot with the charger right on the middle, with very short cables.
You didn't mention the instrument layout is better in the old one....it is clean and simple. The 2022 one with the power/charge meter (which you don't really need) to the right is much less clear. The new front features a sturdier charge port. I didn't have any problems, but the old one feels like some cheap plastic which will fail all too soon. Hopefully it's just the feeling...
I am picking up 2022 Kona EV Ultimate here in Western Canada it does come with Apple car play also wireless charging and with the heads up display it also come with roof rails , I have also being told there is an after market towing kit , not that I want it.
Regular gas Kona very economical in Regular gas usage. I'm not sure anymore if EV is better. EV has higher cost, daily charging with recent Coned price and 100k miles battery replacement will cost additional money. Kona gas is just 25-30k. Change 6 month oil, weekly 30 dollar gas and engine last 200k or more.

Hyundai ev makes a annoying sound when driven from its speaker
I kind of like it.
I own a 500e and don't want to swap, no comparison, but this got no style no personality, IMHO boring car
Tesla is the ugliest looking car! I concur!!!!!!! LOL :)
Hideous, honestly.
Tesla ugly did I listen well?????
Hideous.
Well I hope that sweet young girl pitches on kwh's because its still not free.
Yep! I put her to work doing various jobs for me. And then this summer she gets a real job 🤑
Cons the price 47 thousand and a 230 mile range pros not a damn thing I will stick with gasoline engines
Pros: Leased for $177/month for the highest trim level that is rated at 258 miles and actuially gets much more in above freezing temps. Never buy $4.50/gallon gas, oil changes, air filters or other engine maintenance.
does it hav autopilot 😂😂👎🏿
Too expensive.
40 thousand dollars get the f outta here
Hahaa tesla is the ugliest yet still dominates and change the market where many of these companies out here longer and has more experience than tesla. This car is way uglier than a tesla lets be real🙄🙄😐😐🐑
The Model 3 and Model Y are the most hideous automotive designs ever created. How could someone buy one of those?
@@stevehammes haaahaaa do the comparison open mindedly and see why persons will buy a tesla over this garbage that is so expensive✌👍
You killed me when u said Tesla's are the ugliest cars??? Your outfit is the most hideous ever
That’s funny because your mom said she loved it last night.
@@stevehammes 😂
Teslas are cool but so ugly the proportions are so off. I'll stick to my Lexus es350
