Pro tip; use your EDC (or whatever mini tool you carry) to tighten your through axles. Using a long Allen wrench at home may make the axle too tight to remove with your short multi tool.
I started biking because of you and Seth last year. But now that I caught covid despite working from home, I can't bike. Watching your videos has been helping me get through this. Thanks so much man
I got one pretty recently and absolutely love it! It’s so useful, I pretty much use it every ride. Also, the location on the bike is very practical and easy to reach. I totally agree- this is a product for everyone.
Yesterday I broke my chain and derailer. I was running an old 3x8 set up and the front derailleur stopped shifting then it did something to my rear derailleur. I am contacting plating about upgrading to a 1x9 or 1x10 but I'm not sure about parts and stuff.
i rather save the 20$ and have a multitool that will save me everytime and not one thats cool-looking but is missing 80% of the tools and 20$ more expensive
I have a tiny bag with all my “on the go” tools in it: titanium tire levers (because, of course!), patch kit, multi-tool, chain breaker, CO2 cartridges, etc. It’s always packed and ready to go. It even has a shoulder strap in case I need to carry it that way, and it fits perfectly into a jersey pocket if necessary. I would rather not add the weight to my bike for a tool that’s incomplete. That’s great if you’re inexperienced and don’t ride that much and are likely to forget your tools, but for hardcores, not so much. Maybe it’s just that years of riding Alaska backcountry taught me well to be prepared.
In your case it would just remove one item from your tool kit and make some space. It could also be a great backup in case you snap an Allen key somehow.
I would agree with this assessment. Having a tool in the steerer has been clutch. I had the same thought about the first run that One Up did so I went with the new one from Granite Stash which (at the time) was cheaper and simpler to use since the EDC Lite hadn't shown up yet. These little things are great and I do love having them on all the bikes.
I've got a lezyne rap 2 and it turns out it rams under the saddle pretty well and with a lil velcro strap....well let's just say it's survived 3 months of new bike/toy syndrome, shame the paint on my new trek didn't fair so well over the winter months 🤷🏻♂️
Any reviews on long term use? Just wondering if the plastic carrier loses strength and shape over time. Anyone need to re-tighten the preload from time to time? Thanks.
The thing that holds me back from buying this is I will still have a seat bag or frame bag to hold a tube maybe tire levers buying this for me is somewhat a waste of money but also I can see the benefits for people who don’t carry tube and stuff like that
This tool is great but it does happen to make your headset loose over time and you would need a long allen wrench to tighten it which you can't do it out on the trails.
When are you doing a bike check on the ibis ripley AF? Seriously considering that bike, or the Marin Rift Zone 3. In that 3K budget range. Love the channel! Hope you are doing well!
not hating on it but I'm sticking with saddle bag, crank bros multitool, and other stuff I need in saddlebag. Chain tool alone has saved several rides.
I bought this item for my bike and my bike has a RockShox 35 gold rl I measured the length of my steerer tube and it ended up not working because for some reason about 2 inches down from the top of the steerer tube there is a small bump it bearly discernible but it there so the EDC ended up not fitting
I would have liked to see you using the actual tool and what it all contains instead of just a picture of the website and the cap of it when you installed it.
Good little tool but still think these things are pointless without a chain tool. I’d go for the full fat version whether it’s EDC or Granite etc, rather than a diet model.
Not the old version I just removed mine. If u don't tap it, and use the edc stem you're headset is loose after 2 rides. The new version edc lite has the star nut. Much better. Seriously just swapped it out yesterday. Buy the new version trust me.
@@DailyMTBRider bro it was so dangerous I love oneup. But that was enough of that I just got a matching wolftooth bling kit. I'll carry the old tool still.🤙
That's some balls, asking the guy you're riding with, in advance, if HE'D bring tools so you wouldn't have to carry any. Especially when, by your own admission, you seem to need them pretty often. I've stopped to help noobs before, because they don't know any better. You do.
@@DailyMTBRider Because you're not crippled, or sick, or incapable of carrying your own tools. You're just being lazy. I store hot dogs in my handlebars.
The EDC HotDog Lite is dropping next month - but let's keep it on the DL 😂
I got the "full size" EDC Tool and love it! The One Up pump is really nice also.
Love the subtle New Bike Day 😂
🤫Shhhh don't tell anyone!
Standard on specialized... SWAT. Nice to have when you need it.
Wish it had a chain breaker for when I need to remove a bent link 15 miles from the van.
I dig it! Gotta love the idea of filling up holes with your tool...to save space. Wait. That came out wrong.
Oh Joe... always coming in with a zinger! haha!
If you are too excited to wait, daily revealed his tool at 2:06
Seems like a really cool feature, wish I could have one!
They're super sweet! And you can totally get one!
Pro tip; use your EDC (or whatever mini tool you carry) to tighten your through axles. Using a long Allen wrench at home may make the axle too tight to remove with your short multi tool.
I love mine. Waited a month for it to get here, 5 minutes to install, and then I’m set.

It really is a game changing tool, that's for sure!
What am I not doing that you are finding the need to use a tool for on nearly every ride?
I have pretty much the same thing with the specialized SWAT top cap tool. So helpful! I or someone else use it nearly every ride.
Handy. However, SWAT looks much cleaner
Young grasshoppers. Never depend on anyone. Always take your kit. In life there are no free rides and no free lunches. 🤦♂️

So to install it you just push the star nut down and replace the top cap with the holder for the tool?
You are correct my friend - makes it super easy!

So true.

Is it an herb grinder with some dank crumbs left in it?
the locking mechanism of the tool, its plastic right? when you push it down and it wears, does it come loose over time?
I wanna know what brand/model of flannel shirt you were wearing on the trail
One of the best bike purchases I've made in the last year. Its so simple and easy to use. If I can install it successfully, anyone can.
You and me both man! Even after the screw up it was still so easy!

Is the plastic carrier able to maintain preload tension without having to tighten it from time to time?
What kind of oil slick stem is that??
It's an FSA Gradient! You can check it out on their site in the link in my description!
Easy install looks straight forward. Thanks for the vid!

Specialized swat zee cage 2. Tool mounted to bottom of the bottle cage. Absolutely miraculous
Yeah about that tool...i had it in the car...you didn’t say to bring it with us on the ride. 😆😂
To be fair - it was in your fanny pack the whole ride 😂

is this mod reversible? incase i ever sell my bike
Also, the Topeak Ninja is a great tool that stays on the bike without any modifications
This tool is great but it does happen to make your headset loose over time and you would need a long allen wrench to tighten it which you can't do it out on the trails.
Mmmmm how's that even possible? I would dismiss this comment
In oneup instructions it shows if this ever happens you can use the edc lite tool…. It will just make the carrier rotate with it.
When are you doing a bike check on the ibis ripley AF? Seriously considering that bike, or the Marin Rift Zone 3. In that 3K budget range. Love the channel! Hope you are doing well!
Soon my friend! But overall, I'd tell anyone to buy the Ripley AF!
You should check out some not canyons bikes they have the spectral 7 that’s about 2800 it’s 27.5 and has some nice components
Radon and propain should also be an option
I am thinking about it but im not sure to spend more and get the full siced one or the lite model

I don’t need it either as I get my wife to run behind me on the trail carrying my toolbox just in case

If only there was a way to tighten a thru axle without a tool...
Buy a through axle with a lever at the side
I happened to watch your video here after I already got my FSA headset and limited edition Sasquatch FSA cap😆 dohhhh
They just HAD to come out with these right after I had some head tube caps made with my logo...
Lol I'd literally just throw it in my backpack/camelback.
Same
Get a crank brothers. Much better to use.
Good little tool but still think these things are pointless without a chain tool. I’d go for the full fat version whether it’s EDC or Granite etc, rather than a diet model.
I'd go in this direction if I didn't already have my tool with my Stumpy's swatbox.
I had a similar tool and loved it until it flew out on one of my rides. Luckily, I always kept a second set of tools in my backpack.
I use a tool that's similar called the Granite Stash and its made of metal instead of a nylon composite and it 10$ more
Don't you need an Allan key to get it out?
No way, not on this - just pops right up!
Wait, when did you get a Ripley AF?
lol nevermind should have watched a little further
I would like to get one but since I commute to school on my full suspension GT it could be stolen, anyone have ideas how I could prevent this?
I saw that ripely af in the back
Damn I took you advice and started riding daily and about 17 days in I bent my rear rim :/
But what about the chain lube you keep asking for when we run into each other on galby? 🤔 haha
Hahaha hey that was like once... maybe twice.... ok ok I need to carry some 😂
Buy spare sleeves for the other bikes and swap the tool itself over, saves money
Josh that really stinks.. Were you not in the Boy Scouts? 🤣 Thanks for the info on this handy tool!
I’m curious how come you didn’t go with the Ripmo AF. I respect your reviews so I look forward to your thoughts🤜🏼🤛🏻
Josh going Ibis. That’s surprising.
I surprised myself in the purchase - but man I love it!
I have everything I need in a small seat bag. I don’t think I need this. Plus my guess is over time it will work loose & that’s not safe. ⛑
My dad bought me one for my birthday and it was so nice and it still is
I just spend 800 on parts a couple days ago still waiting on them :(

The tool reveal at 2:06
I had to have one when it came out, but I ended up selling it bc I didn’t want to lose my custom top cap. Sigh.
I’m toying with the idea of filing the plastic one up cap flat with a rasp then bonding or bolting my trick alu top cap onto it.
I should get one
This tool is great but there are some pretty bad negatives. Check out Ride Rate Reviews video on it
He rode with the tool for a few years and found it wasn't that great.
He covered the original edc tool, not this new lite one. I’m curious if they’ve updated the design
Watching my "Daily MTB Video"
Idk about tools bcs why should I carry tools around if my bike breaks I just leave it in the woods even if it a new bike
I just tape a 6mm Allen key to my frame but that’s just me
It is so small you can have it in any pocket

2021 called my friend - this is the EDC lite!
It is a luxury but not necessary. Not sure how you would be carrying nothing like a saddle bag or some bag
Man thts one long intro for the product lol
40 dollars? Nowadays valve caps cost that much
That is the unfortunate truth my friend!
