Just did Beagle duty for 4 days (me and my GF share) and I’m okay. It was fun, intense (velcrolitious), and kept me focused on The Moment. Can’t imagine life without a Beagle!
I am a first time dog owner who opted for a Beagle as I am fascinated by the floppy ears and the tail like a flag mast. Sparky, my three year old beagle changed my life. I am more active than ever before and my overall health improved since he came into my life. I am nearing 60 years, living all by myself, but more active than many younger people.
Everything you mention is TRUE!! Yes, beagles are GREAT Family pets, had 'Blu' when daughter was old enough to take care of her (8 year old). She Was a Great companion to her. 'Blu' got along Very Well with other dogs around the neighborhood, but, as mentioned, she did LOVE to eat, but we Knew that...kept her weight down her Entire life. As far as "follow your NOSE", OH Yeah, 'Blu' did that ALL da Time!!! She did "bay/howl" "AHROOOOO", but only when she saw us coming home....and She KNEW, what time we were coming home. I was able to train her, to make sure she didn't "Rush for her food!!"...."wait..Wait..., (as I placed the bowl on the ground), Wait (not yelling, but firm voice)..........EAT." ( and she was Very Good about that...every once-in-awhile, she would need re-training ) We miss ya 'Blu' Girl...... you were the Best Girl!!!
