I'm an old Icelander that used the opportunity to re-discover my own country in 2020, during the first Covid lull when Iceland was virtually devoid of tourists. I rented a proper camper where I could stand upright (stooping is a pain at my age) and with all the amenities (kitchen, toilet, shower etc.) and, best of all, I could trundle into a camping site anytime I wanted, plug in my extension cord in and have a perfectly nice, warm night!
Now, young people like Chad and Claire can take a lot of inconveniences in their stride (like having to stoop in the camper and being perpetually chilled), and some even relish these minor "hardships", but I am around half a century past that resilient age!

Iceland does have stores with towels... I was just in Iceland and there were a ton of camper van rentals -- very popular with tourists!

What a great idea to do vanlife around Iceland! Definitely adding this to my bucket list 😍 Also, would recommend that you guys get a Turkish hamam towel or a microfibre travel tower - they take up so little space but really come in handy in times like these 😉

Did you 2 have to bringing all of yours sleeping bags, cooler cooking stuff or was it provided with the van?
The official model name of the Fiat Doblò that you rented is the Fiat Doblò Maxi, which is the long wheelbase model. The 2022 model year happens to be the last one for this generation of the Fiat Doblò. Back over in North America, the Fiat Doblò is rebadged as the Ram ProMaster City.

We were not planning on it, but we totally could! If we do, it would probably be a post on instagram.
The van might be smaller but at least it has heat!!!! I believe heat is a necessity in Iceland! Love seeing you two in a van again! Hope it was everything you dreamed it would be! Safe travels!

Do you recommend van life or hotel for an Iceland road trip?
If possible, I would say both or perhaps a mix! Camping is a wonderful experience, but sometimes the weather can be bad and having a place to stay for the night would be beneficial. It's more of a personal and financial question you'd have to ask yourself. Best of luck!

Great video though Claire does worry me with the cutting skills always made your fingers go inward so you don't cut them off and your knuckles would suffer if anything
