- This is the story of my 62nd tournament at blue belt where I lost in my very first match and was out of the tournament... only to get a second chance in the absolute and no-gi!
This was at BJJ Tour in San Francisco.

You’ll see my training, warm up, weight cut, some friends, and all 3 of my divisions… And stick around to the end for an unexpected twist in my no-gi division against Ben and his wrestling…
This is a story of perseverance and other lessons from competing to hopefully inspire you in your Jiu Jitsu journey. Anybody can beat anybody, and even if you feel like giving up… just keep going.
Thanks to:
Victory Submission Strength for strength training
Coach Greg and my team at Odyssey Jiu Jitsu
Benji Silve and the crew at True Mvmnt for the extra training

Yeah so ben's main ankle lock training partner (myself) got his leg broken by a car accident the week prior (I'll be out for a while) so he didnt' get good practice in.
Glad to see you training at Samurai open mats it's a lot of fun to play with you!
Oh damn bro, hope you’re ok! That sounds rough. How long are you out?
@@joshbeambjj IDK when I'll return minimum I'll be back by april but probably significantly longer
Hey Josh, love the video! I was the one who went against the guy that beat you(who got dq'd) in the semi finals. That guy definitely was good, but you might have gassed him out for his match against me haha. I ended up taking Gold for our division, but I'm sure it would have been a challenging match going against a frequent tournament-goer like you, had you made it to the finals. Hope we get a match in some day. Cheers!
Oh hey man! Hahaha I love how small of a world BJJ is, so easy to cross paths online. Great job man, and thanks for watching / commenting on the vid. Hope to see ya around!
Such a great video, Had a loss today and your explanation at 6:00 really hit home.
i'm glad you were able to get something from it, thanks for watching. Yeah, losses can suck in the moment for sure... but there's always something good that comes from it.

That’s great feedback, thanks for watching! I was hoping to make it more of a story.
Won't you be worn out after all this? How do you have the energy to fight? Nice work!
Thank you! Yeah pretty worn out, but I’ve done it so much that I know when I can push through it and when I should take a break to avoid injury.
Great video! Why dont you still get promoted to purple belt if you 1st placed in ibjjf ranking system blue belts? :)
Thanks for watching! Lol it’s not up to me 😂
