Wow !!! I liked several of them. Low Batter Low and medium reso were my favorites but I think in different situations all of them could be used. Maybe next time you could do this with a 22" and then a 24". Thanks again !!!
When I was a youth I never played with dampening, I really don’t even think I knew what it was, so I always played an open bass drum and looked for heads that would give me the biggest sound for rock music. I had an early 90’s Yamaha Power V Special and as soon as I put a coated Aquarian on it (pretty sure it has dampeners tho lol) I knew that was the sound I was looking for… it was soooo loud, in fact the drummer in the practice space next to us came in after a few practices and asked what batter head I was using because they could feel it in their room. Point being, it wasn’t until later years as I started messing with dampening I had trouble “finding my sound” so I mostly stopped using dampening all together. Although I have found in the home studio that dampening can be useful and sometimes seemingly necessary. Cool video, I liked hearing each tuning and thought they sounded good for various styles of music. Cheers
I found this lesson so interesting and fun. I think I like the high/high sound. My bass drum is only 18”, but I am going to try that combo, plus I am going to empty all the laundry from inside. I am excited to try it to see how it sounds. Thank you so much for your channel.❤️🙏👏❤️🙏👏❤️
I mostly prefer mid to high batter, low reso. It depends though, on a smaller drum I tend to go mid/mid, sometimes mid/high. Big room and no microphones, definitely mid to high reso.
I just received a Rogue RGD0520 from a friend and it’s all out of wack. I’m a complete beginner but before I learn to play I want to get it adjusted and tuned up. I can watch videos on the actual tuning process but the bass drum sounds awful it just sounds like a Tom there is no low thump at all. Any tips or suggestions?
2:21 best for me
This is one of the best videos for drummers on the internet. Thank you
I have been waiting for this video for a long time. Thanks!
No worries, hope you found it useful

Love the snare sound!
I’m digging the mid res mid batter sound. I’m going to try that one out.

My choice is : batter low, resonant mid
Thank u for this video. Im a beginner and its so hard to tune my bass drum.
Great video. I prefer the batter head tuned a little higher, therefore getting better rebound on the bass drum beater
Same!
Someone had to do it!

So fanatic but I love it 😊
Id like to see that with a closed resonant. Through a porthole the effect of the reso is minimal...
Now just add the Hz frequencies to each tuning and this would be a solid video.
Reso higher on kick and snare, always.
