By the way, couple of weeks ago, the PH President signed the Self Reliance Defense Posture law in which there is a clear guide for local defense manufacturers and their foreign counterparts and foreign military manufacturers to invest in the Philippines to build manufacturing regional hubs and repair hubs in which it will create jobs and by next year it will start a new era for PH defense industry to be self reliant.

1:22 to 1:26 case in point the US actually been offering to escort the Philippines government for re-supply mission specifically the Philippines Coast Guard and the Navy in the West Phillippines Sea because of the high tension between Philippines vs China but the Philippines still say no to the offer. This is partly because the Philippines doesn't want to escalate things even further and also the Philippines doesn't wanna appear as a US lackey.

In terms of warship building, we already have local ship building that are already building warships prototypes. Israel also helps us to build our first very own missile vessels.
Thank you Israel for always being on our back🙇🏻

11:27 yes we can actually modernize the military, it's well within our budget, it's just that the politicians are prioritizing on the wrong things. The budget is there, the Philippines budget for 2024 is $85 billion and $1.5 billion was allocated to the National's Defense budget even though the DND was asking $5 billion. This is the reason why Philippines Air Force is having a hard time acquiring F16's from the US because someone in the Philippine government keeps on cutting the funds that the DND is asking for.

How strong? The AFP has been teaching US military on jungle warfare. Oh by the way, we have been at war since 1896...the filipino spanish war, the spanish american war, the fil-american war, world war 1 and 2, korean war, vietnam war, moro secessionists, communist rebels, islamic extremists.

@@leonardmichaelmarkrandrup2375 the PH military was able to fully adapt the jungle warfare since world war 2 but during Filipino-American war it already started and even continued in Mindanao even after the Americans colonized almost the entire Philippines Mindanao is the hotbed for Americans because the Moros are very tough to beat.

The real problem is the culture of corruption by Filipinos and the ignorant voters who keep voting for the same corrupt leaders and vote for the movie actors who have no credibility. Good example is the current hearing going on in Congress. The VP is acting like she's entitled to taxpayers money and treat the money like it's in her own bank account and nobody should question her about it. Make your leaders/politicians accountable, demand transparency and stop making excuses for them.

RA 12024 or the Self Reliant Defense Posture Revitalization Act has been signed into law. The Self-Reliant Defense Posture Revitalization Act aims to boost local defense industries, enhance military modernization efforts, and foster partnerships with allied nations to secure a credible defense posture in the face of external threats.

Local ship building for the military for the navy and coast guard have already been started and I think, if I am not mistaken a local company already produced a 50 meter naval ship for the navy and it's all being done with the help from the private sectors.

The Philippines is still weak in comparison to other country. But the ace inside their sleeve is the Defense treaty with the USA and that is a very effective deterrent to an actual war. Other nation like China might/will try gray tactics to avoid activation of the MDT

Try to interview David Day he usually speaks on the China Unscripted channel... He's probably one of the most well informed person on this topic...
Dunno about Submarines. They're cool but it's too expensive and manpower intensive. It's not just the subs it's the whole infrastructure that come with the subs. Ports are not the same as sub pens. Equipment, logistics, resupply. Efforts could be better spent elsewhere for the same investment.

the philippines does not have the military strength to outright stop a full invasion of a much stronger foreign power, its defense strategy would most likely focus on making the occupation of its lands as costly and painful as possible. Yes you can hold 80% of the islands but it wouldn't be worth the trouble if each year you're losing countless thousands of soldiers and equipment. Whereas back then when the region was conquered by spain, it was a patchwork of fragmented tribes and kingdoms which mainly waged war against each other, there was no real filipino identity.
