I just moved to the Philippines from Australia about 6 months ago, Filipinos are awesome, they speak up to 3-4 languages English is there second language there education system is better than ours. They are as tough as nails and extremely LOYAL. And are some of the best knife fighters in the world, I just got my black belt in BJJ and I do MMA, I'm 62 since I've been here I've started 2 businesses and a Martial arts school, Filipinos get behind you here, if the Chinese attack give me a gun I'll defend these people with my life

The scene where they were attached to the rope dangling below the helicopter. We always called that S.P.I.E.S. (Special Purpose Insertion/Extraction System). It’s very uncomfortable if you have to go too far (think parachute harness with a strap sewn to the back as opposed to a chute). You were 100% correct in that it is a VERY niche tactic but I’d guess we wouldn’t been happy to have that training if it was ever needed. I only did that maybe half a dozen times in 20 years for perspective. Good work, brother. Keep it up!! God bless, my friend!!!

ive been around with some american vets(mostly due playing milsim games) that deployed in asia and what most of them says they prefer to work with the filipinos as they can easily adopt with them due to being trained with the same doctrine, tactics having same weaponry etc. and basically have more leeway as their gov and higher ups let them be asked why not the japanese or koreans what they say is most of the japanese and koreans are kinda hard to work with due to the fact that their afraid to mess up and getting in trouble apparently japanese and koreans higher ups are bit too strict limiting their soldiers flexibility meanwhile

SF was founded by the late Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos who was a Korean war veteran. He is the one responsible for the Ally victory over the hill Eerie the most significant strategic point during the war in South Korea. The Philippine Special Forces is not the only special ops in the country but there's a lot more, like the Philippine Scout Ranger, SAF, NAVSOG, MARSOG, Philippine Light Reaction Regiment, Philippine Marines Airborne Reconnaissance and a lot more please check it out.

This regiment is one of many SOF units in the AFP. In the Phil. Army, they have Special Forces Regiment, First Scout Ranger Regiment and their CT unit, Light Reaction Regiment.
In the Phil. Navy they got SEAL teams (they also have a DEVGRU equivalent called NAVOU-8) and MARSOC.
Phil. Air Force they have the 710th Special Operations Wing.

It's so cool seeing you react to this. I'm biased, but I'd be down to see more from you learning about the rest of the Filipino military. I'm an American who's married to a Philippine Army vet. The first time we met, we went to a shooting range in Manila. Seeing her masterfully go to work with a 1911 .45 and semi auto 12 gauge was very impressive. She nearly out-shot me despite her not shooting for a few years and me being a regular sport shooter. Here in America the joke is a girl's father will scare you off with his shotgun, but my wife is plenty terrifying all on her own 😂

6:02 You're right, of course. The thing is thought that there's generally a lot of AFP regulars who _want_ to join the various SF units: partly because of the pay upgrade, but mainly because they want to _really_ prove their worth. It goes without saying that any elite unit from any country are the most proud, most formidable group of soldiers anyone would ever meet. The Filipino soldier's mindset though, is... different.
They'd rather die -- and some actually do -- before they admit defeat. They'd _repeatedly_ fling themselves over the limits of what their bodies can do because they *know* that there's a real enemy out there in the ridiculously unforgiving jungle -- in the form of communist insurgents, religious fanatics, or both. Might even be in the form of foreign invaders, if things don't work out in the near future.
Unlike their Western counterparts, the Filipino soldier has been *continuously* doing combat missions since WW2. From the Hukbalahap in the 40s to the ISIL wannabees of today, the Filipino soldier has never really known actual peacetime.

I believe we have 6 Special Forces units in the Philippines. We have the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR), the Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOCOM), the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) (SFR(A)), the 710th Special Operations Wing (SpOW), the Marine Special Operations Group (MARSOG) and the Light Reaction Regiment (LRR). FSRR is patterned after the US Army Rangers, NAVSOCOM is SEAL, the SFR(A), which is the one you are watching now, is patterned after the US Green Beret, hence the Green Berets you see in the videos, the 710th SpOW is the Special Operations unit of the Air Force, MARSOG is for the Marines, formerly called the ForceRecon Battalion and the LRR is our Tier One Counter Terrorism Unit sometimes referred to as the Philippine Delta Force. They all work under a unified command called the Armed Forces of the Philippines Special Operations Command (AFPSOCOM).
So yeah, to answer your question, we don't have a single Special Forces unit, but we have 6 SF Units unified under one command.

Interesting to see a Royal Marine’s take on the Philippine Special Forces unit. It seems like the structure of the Philippine military somewhat mirrors that of the US. My dad was a Philippine Marine Captain and both my brother and I are US Marines. I love hearing stories about my dad’s days in the service and compare it to mine and my brother’s. I’m currently living in the Philippines(relocated last year) and am interested in joining their reserve force. The Philippine military is undergoing a transition, especially with the Chinese tension, and are shifting their focus from mostly internal to a more external and globalistic protective measure.

This is a demonstration video, not real action. They show some equipment, but not the "cool" shite. Trust me, these young gents are deadly, and spot on. The Philippines overall seems to have a good train and tested force (for the level of combat they are in and where) but sadly what really hurts them is their lack of tech and it shows. I mean look tech alone isn't going to win every fight and even the old stuff has its use still even today but good lord it's still safe to say they need to upgrade badly.
From what I recall they are going through a modernization but I have no clue of the current results and how long will it take into effect or if it's actually happening.

Unfortunately a big part of it I’m guessing is that the philippines is still a 3rd world country.
The Philippines has a strong relationship with the US and a lot of structure and training training comes from us (not even just military).
It’s funny because if you know any Filipino-American in the US military they’re likely navy lol. A lot of Filipinos are in the US navy (other branches too of course) but the Filipino mafia in the navy is like a running thing.

i know the force recon one they explain that they're already part of something whether it's the army, or the police etc so a bunch of them aren't a bunch of n00bs. and then to graduate you get sent in on actual missions. that particular documentary there were people that died in their batch. this looks like a recruitment video. now i wanna join 🤣🤣

Philippine Special Forces are really "special" when it comes to jungle warfare.
But when it comes to urban warfare, they really need to step up their game.
