thank you! i always struggle to get my head around these things when my lectures explain everything with the biggest words they can find in the thesaurus
THANK YOU! I'm writing an essay discussing Adorno and Horkheimer’s critique of instrumental reason. They criticize positivism and neo-positivism, but never explain what it is.
So positivism has to see it to know? Just like in the example you brought up about someone being happy, you actually have to see someone to be happy in order to know that they're happy.
- But Positivism does not explain the things that people experience that can not be brought back to initial conditions , nay, initial conditions , and repetition of outcome only is a method to use with the simplest sorts of things like rocks , or the chemical properties and attributes related to chemistry . How did things get so decadent here ?
How could happiness be measured on a scientific ways? Happiness depends on individual interests. Interests may be either created or copied. You cannot set standards for happiness and it is upto a persons mood and emotion. I think its more psychological and physical.
hahaha... imagine? But feeling is manifested and so is consciousness. And when the two of them observe it they can form a consensus that there is indeed consciousness or feeling. Why am i even replying to this purely nonsensical joke
I can understand why the so-called ‘social sciences’ would object to positivism, particularly for the fact that the ‘social sciences’ (esp sociology and psychology) hardly qualify as a ‘science’!
Finally! a human explaining this stuff
