    Hi from England
I never knew that many Americans went to live in Australia. I do remember back in the day the £10 passage of Brits to Australia but many came back to Britain. It did not 'work for them@ My late mother's best friend was on of these kids who went out but came back to Britain.
I know that to get into Australia and also New Zealand you have to have a skill or trade like teacher of doctor.

Certainly people seeking a different era in a remote corner of the world and that was not to last much longer. Big changes were just around the corner even for the NT.
Plus the change oil prices during the 70s probably affected things too.

Pretty enlightening interview with the American immigrants leaving the US for Australia in the context of the path they saw that America was taking over 50 years ago. Thank you for the upload.

Evidently they were pretty racist. They were fine with the CB docile Aboriginals of Australia but hated the African-American when he demanded his civil rights.

@@grigorig1055 Just one American's opinion here. Anyone who has to deal with Black criminality in their part of America, whether they be White, Asian, or Hispanic, will form an overall negative opinion of Blacks, even if raised to be sympathetic toward them. It is a very real widespread issue that persists(has spread actually). Many Brits or Euros of a certain age seem to believe what biased reporters and docu. makers show them re. race relations in America.

@@johannesbauer4490 But white criminality and corruption - even trying to subvert and overthrow an elected government - is apparently OK. Along with 400 years of racism.
