Do Not**** keep your recovery phase in a password manager, it should not be stored on your computer or in the cloud anywhere, where vulnerable to hacks
Written and stashed in multiple physical trusted secret and secure locations is the safest way to go.

You only create 1 passkey wich is the number that is generated at the beginning. After that you add a second or third device (phone, laptop, pc) to your existing passkey.
You can also use a Yubikey insteaf of creating a recovery phrase and store the Yubiey in a secure place.
Im thankfull you took the effort to make the video, but i think its confusing for the new commer.

you can add yout personal ledger hardware wallet as passkey or recovery device, so any ledger with the same seed in it will open the account and you just need to save your personal seed phrase. I think it's a good way to connect the IC account with your hardware wallet. Of course, also save the IC recovery phrase, just in case.
Cool thing about using a ledger to sign into you Internet Identity is even if you lose the the hardware wallet device you can buy a new one and use that new one with your original ledger seed and it will allow you to log back into your Internet Identity provided you have your ID number. So it must use your hardware wallets seed to create the cryptography not the device it's self which makes sense with hardware wallets

been trying for half an hour to get icp site to let me in. i have an icp id, but when I enter it, it keeps wanting me to insert a security key, or use another device, which I cannot get to connect. this is stupid. when i click use existing, the only options i get are use phone or tablet, or use a hardware key, neither of which I want to use. I'm trying to use the site on my pc.
Forcing me to set up a MS Hello password key. Dumb, and doesn't work when I set it up anyway. If this is the general user experience, I don't see ICP blowing up this cycle. Maybe next time.

You can also use a Yubikey instead of a password and recovery phrase. Then you dont have the hastle with the recovery phrase stuff...
Hi Jerry, I’m excited that you’re doing this presentation because I only have access on my phone and can’t figure out my computer because windows security is trying to make sure it’s me and my computer says I need to insert your security key into the USB port the only problem is I don’t have one and I’ve never created one and I can’t figure out how to Either create it or bypass this option. I tried setting up a security pin on windows but its not loading the settings page-maybe that would work though?

If icp rewards get restaked in a neuron, I noticed that those icps dont get added on the principal only as voting power. In case of desolving that neuron do we get those restaked icps out in the end or only the principal?

I thought that with locking the Recovery Phrase, every time you will have to enter it, before getting approval to my wallet.

Yes, I use Exodus and indeed there is no ICP. Other than some missing coins, Exodus has always been a very good wallet.
Cold wallet..If you ever get hacked using a hot wallet no one to blame but yourself..better to be safe than sorry.

That's what I got too their wallet doesn't even work. I knew it sounded weird system so I'm not surprised it's bogus,

I have it all set up and I log in by scanning the QR code with my phone. I'm just not clear what a passkey is. It doesn't ask for one when I scan with my phone. So I don't get it. What if I don't have my phone? How do I get the passkey so I can write it down?

Jerry my friend sent $900 in BTC to his ICP NNS wallet but a CKBTC copy WASN't CREATED. we can see his $900 on the blockchain in the address which should be the twin address but NO CKBTC was created. THIS COULD BE A HUGE PROBLEM JERRY. My Buddy never wants to use ICP ever again. he is now 100% KASPA

The NNS is a joke. I saved a passkey which I was using to log in then all of a sudden the website does not allow me to log in. Why is it doing this?
When I try to set up a passkey, it tells me to insert a security key via USB. I'm not quite sure exactly what this means? I think it's Google Chrome telling me to do this.

but wait Jerry how did you set up the PIN on windows ? i just tried to create my icp identity and its telling me to connect a device like a hardware wallet but not giving me any other option. so i went and created on my phone but there also only game me possibility to fingerprint . after that when i generated a pass key to use it on my computer same thing its telling me to connecte a device.can you guide me on how to find an alternative way ?
@benjaminollis7621 where can you see security settings? I just have my icp identity number then the possibility to create a passkey and lower i have 2 ways to secure 1st is the recovery phrase and second recovery device (ledger and stuff)

Its too complicated to do, that is why icp will only go so far and not dominate the crypto space, and you explained it like a bell end
Cant get this to work in Linux.
Create a second wallet within NNS and secure that with a Ledger that may crypto dudes already have.

@@Ben-dg4qo you mean at all, or ICP? I have been playing with the account first, sending small dummy amounts etc, before I lock up my coins in a black hole lol. I hope ICP support is coming to Tangem... I had Trezor for 2 years, now Ledger and Tangem, Ledger is my least favourite, I only bought it for ICP support. I bought Tangem for Kaspa support, but is quickly becoming my favourite.
@@housevibez8828 If your cheating wife knows your Windows password, she can clear out your ICP wallet ;) Same advantage as always with a cold wallet: the keys never leave the device, and you have to physically push buttons to approve any transaction...
Seriously though, I am kinda worried about that login approach via the Windows system password... for like 30 years, you can read out and change a Windows system password faster than you can say 1-2-3,, plus tools like that even get distributed for free by legitimate software vendors... so it was obvious I would need a Ledger on top.
