Filmed in the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Districts in the county of Derbyshire. Locations include Barlborough, Spinkhill and Renishaw.
Written, presented, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.

"The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.

Another lovely walk around unfamiliar villages which I must. There are so many lovely grand mansions that you show us on your walks which really impress me. i love your walks and seeing the seasons change. You're getting ever closer to the two hundred marker and what an achievement. In future years, you can look back at all your walks with a sense of pride. Those feet of yours have covered some miles. Enjoyable walk as always and take care

Good to see you striking out on another new walk Patrick - variety is the spice of life. Shame you couldn't get in the church but I think nearer built up areas that's likely. Thankfully in many areas on the borders we can still get in. Still, you spoke to Barry and stretched your legs. Happily sat back and watched in full. I enjoy that very much. All the best as always. That was interesting, Patrick. I used to work for a company that had an office in Barlborough. So been there loads of times, but like you, had never walked in the area. I do remember a couple of decent pubs in the village, one of which did fantastic food in huge portions. Probably more suited to a coal miner's appetite than an office dweller's like me! 😁

One thing that struck me as I watch was how much beauty we miss as we speed along the motorway (driving the M1 you would know what was just a few hundred yards away 🙏🏼)

Not familiar with Barlborough, so interesting to see new places in North East Derbyshire. It did sound the noise of the traffic gave you a husky voice. I do like visiting old halls and Stately Homes. Luckily I don't have to worry about where to walk, but like you say glad we manage so many different areas. Nice piano arrangements combining with instruments parts. p.s. agree about your views on football😉
Hi Shanita, it's been very interesting for me too to explore more of North East Derbyshire for a change. A fantastic walk, Patrick. The villages you have visited on this video are full of lovely buildings with so much splendid architecture. The churches are great buildings and so are the halls that you show. It's amazing how old some of them are. Many thanks for this production.

North Derbyshire doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Barlborough is a beautiful village with a rich heritage .
Indeed it doesn't, like Barlborough there are some great villages in NE Derbyshire 👍

Patrick, a very nice peaceful walk, too bad church was not open, when I was in castle combe, coswolds, everything talks about the village and miss the church st Andrews, it was the most interesting little church, tomb of crusader, who did two tours, next to stained glass which radiated rainbow hues on his tombstone, great picture,and a 14th century faceless clock,it works when you use a 20p, and bell tolls, keep opening those church doors, I don't think there is much vandalism
