I have watched this dozens of times. This is the most exciting theremin playing ever. Neither Leon Theremin nor DEVO could imagine such a fantastic performance.
I wish I'd heard this 2 years ago. Then I could have been enjoying your crazy wild ass Theremin playing and your wonderful!! Interpretations of Devo! So freaking good!!
I'm a 63 year old Aussie guy and this takes me back working $$$ out in the desert travelling the hwys 1982 in my v8 Holden panel van shooting up beer cans on the side of the road with my semi auto 22 carbine rifle and Devo tape stuck in my vehicle cassette player...days gone by when I was a young man . Would love to live that time again.. Dig Fantastic plastic ! 🎉
my new favorite cover of my all time fav song. first heard 78 never stopped listening....devo came from the future that hasn't yet arrived for us. awesome creation guys ...just love your work soooo much, love the way you enjoy it. Thankyou...for making an old man feel young again.
Wow… the first song I learned on guitar when the album came out years ago. Still one of my favourite songs of all time. Absolutely nailed it. Glad I found this!
An amazing cover of my favourite song ever. I'm not sure if it was a real Theremin in the recording but whatever it was, I nearly sh1t myself when it came in on the intro and after the second chorus. Seriously, that Theremin lead was just out of this world. Slap Your Mammy never sounded so different and also cool as F..K. EXCELLENT covers... Be DEVOlved and Duty Now For The Future.. Cheers, Dave.
wow..you have inspired me so much, I went and got all my music gear out of storage today...it has been there for 8 years. I learnt piano and classical composition from age 4 to 24,then played in rock bands till I was 30...needed money desperately so stopped music and got a stupid job. Now at 55 i have the urge to play again. just setting up...elec piano, juno ds,kaosolator, korg mini, maschine, r300 looper, and a mess of software for drums.,vocal processor , bass , acoustic/elec guit, and i forgot that i had bought a theramin about 9 months ago..moog theramini....I forgot how much stuff i had and how important music had been in my life. THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANKYOU....watching one of your streams atm will try to catch a live one on twitch. SPUD ON GUYS.
Wow! This honestly means so much to us, everything you said. We are so happy that you've gotten inspired to get back into music! Feel free to share videos with us. You've got some super sweet gear, we would love to check out what you do!
i have a list of covers i would love to do don't know where to start. When i was a youngling i was heavily influenced by people like Japan, Jean Michelle Jarre, Thomas Dolby ,Pink Floyd as well as devo. I love the idea of creating soundscapes to really draw a listener into their own imagination...the posibilities are more open than traditional song writing as such. I would love to write music for films and movies...am inspired by Mark Motherboughs work in movies and tv sounds ..... I can see you guys are just bursting with creativity and you work well together. Do you explore other avenues of artistic expression ? I played in a band in the 80s called Feast of Friends and we toured australia a bit supproting bands like mental as anything and cut a 7" single which you can still buy on ebay ! Used to love that feeling in a band where it CLICKED and everyone was in synch musically and mentally....ah the good old days. Played in other bands ,,did a degree in music at university with my voice as an instrument [ opera singing ] have played classical piano in numerous concerts in the Sydney Opera House, taught myself bass, cello , harp and diggeridoo. Have a qualification as a "sound healer" ...a system recognising the tones of the body and mind and attempts to reharmonise those sounds to eradicate disease and stress. Yes, music is an important part of my existance..even though not directly involved in making music for a while I still think as a musician and view the world from that special dimension that few , including yourselves, have access to. If you have ever read the silmarillion you know what i'm saying.......
@@TheFantasticPlastics i love your originals, especially bad day and telephone. you have a really original sound there and i reckon you should be focusing on your originals to get your sound known. You remind me of a young yolandi vissa and waddi tudor jones with the way you use visual media..love the way you play with different characters in live stream...sorta reminds me of old 70s saturday morning cartoon shows. Please develope and explore.

Yeah, I was more of a Devo fan this past year, Gates of Steel is also covered a lot, Im new to that song, but Im very familiar with gut feeling and I stumbled upon this and loved it right away, and I also listen to it a lot, after 5 times Im good for a while.
I wish I was there :( Miranda looking like a total alien babe back then! It really is kinda surreal to see this and to see how you perform this song now tyson and all the improvements and perfections made. Love the lava lamps too 😎
THIS IS AMAZING! Thank yall so much for creating this, I haven't felt this excited watching a music performance in who knows how long, and I'm all into music but Devo was always one of my all-time favorite bands, and you two totally did a STELLAR COVER of one of the greatest Devo songs. Your vibe is just pure raw cosmic energy and absolute enthusiasm, you're tapping into THE ABSOLUTE mentioned in the CIA document: "analysis and assessment of gateway process" (pdf first result on google) or as mentioned in the Urantia Book. You got lightening in a bottle here. Please, KEEP IT UP!
You guys not only have the style of DEVO, but you also have the background ambiance of the Spudboys from Akron. Are we not men? We are DEVO! Great stuff!
Love this cover. Love the energy from the two of you. Love the tone on the synth from the 1:40 second mark on through. Just absolutely wonderful in every way! Thank You so very much.
I never heard of you guys before (I thought "fantastic plastic" meant the Canon f1.8 50mm lens, that's how much of a nerd I am), but you're great! And a theremin solo! Old school, very cool. Never seen anyone play it like that! Love the chromakey cosmic outfits, too. I'm subscribing.
Buff Straw The Fantastic Plastics live stream a 3 hour or so concert on Twitch Tuesdays around 8pm ET and Fridays starting between 9-10 pm ET. Come watch!
Heyyy Buff Straw! Thank you so very much for the kind words and for subscribing! We've never heard of a lens called that, so thank you for telling us too, very cool!
WOW!!, you guys WORK really really HARD!!!!

That Theremin work was amazing! Particularly enjoyed the section from 3:44. Shows you're completely in control of the instrument.
