You adding such extensive explanation to each of the tricks is appreciated. I'm very new to the lexicon of these boxes and detail is so much appreciated. Thanks for sharing and I'm saving to my shorter playlist of "Digitakt Quick Tips" though you cover several in a single show. 🍻 Edit: And I traded away my SP404MK2 to pick up the Digitakt II. I may pick another one up down the road but I'm currently pretty content with my Elektron stuff and a Modal synth.
Your time stretch technique still the best and I feel it'll stay as history digitakt wise ^^ , it did have a massive influence on my workflow and my productions . The problem I have with the werp and repitch modes is that it throws your amp envelope to the trash somehow, with your technique the envelope has a massive influence on the end result especially if you play with the retrigger's divisions over your pattern ! Anyway ! Thank you :)

keep looking at ways to find more outta my digitakt. i don’t have much external gear but may finally lean into feeding a daw into mine? find the tactility is missing there, so perhaps i can start sampling bars and bring it into the slicer :). cool ideas. again, excited to see what’s next. cheers brother
The snare rush you described that producers use in like jungle and idm was mainly from using trackers and daws. They didn't use much hardware to sequence drums back then. But yea, the digitakt can pull it off well now with slice mode. I often feel like elektron gear is similar to a tracker workflow
hey man, Can I ask you how you did your settings on the SP404? I tried before with other gear, also a keystep pro. but they all have the same issue that the first 4 pads are in order. then 4-5-6-7-8 are gone and then it goes to 9-10-11-12 but those play pad 4-5-6-7-8.
an unsung hero of the digitakt 1.50 update is the transient reduction setting in the filter page. it has enabled so much more precise low end mixing for me (increasing kick punch or balancing sub harmonics) in combination with the 404 its hard to even pine after an octatrack anymore. the workflow is nuts
@@simonyricools under the second filter page there's an option for sample rate reduction in the top right. I set it to post filter and experiment with the level of bit reduction. it starts sounding really 12 bit/crushed at 20 onwards, but everything before that just gives drums and samples a subtle lofi quality that lets them sit together nicer
You have to move down two octaves on the DT keyboard to hit the pads, every 404 bank is addressed like that. Beyond that and having the right midi channel idk
Interested in getting a similar small eurorack with the same modules like you have their.what case would you recommend.i was looking at getting the Behringer modules to keep cost down.would you mind sharing the module names I would need ?
I like the pod cases from 4ms for their modularity. A bit spendy but with one power supply you can chain multiple together. Honestly wish they were usb C powered but we can’t have it all
I have stayed away from the compressor up to this point like. Really been playing live without any compression or limiting on my end! Would you recommend I started?? Cheers for the tips n tricks u a legend :)
The people that are saying "it can't sidechain" are the ones who don't understand where the term came from and are instead using the incorrect definition as their reference.
So you were one of the first to comprehensively convey how to timestretch pre 1.5 and probably as far back as 1.2a I just wanted to say thank you for work I described your approach as the quantum elektron workflow Thank you for thinking outside these devices and their limitations and pushing it as far it could go 🫡

Very very, very useful. I've had my DT over 5 years, and although I use it a lot I'm still learning... please don't make this your last DT vid 🙏

That’s a good way of putting it, I can’t say I find the werp mode too useful for that exact reason
That jam at the end was cool. Thanks for working out and explaining the deep capabilities of the DT. I learn a lot from your vids!

This reminded me of that British guy Kinobe
His Soundphiles album was sick

Virtual instruments in a daw work just as well. Midi map some lfos and whew boy

Awesome vid, thanks man!
Great video! also surface was one of my first eurorack purchases, it keeps on giving!

Dude that’s literally the best compliment you could give 🫡
No problem, looking forward to the videos on Blender.@@dialectricStudios

What's the transient reduction setting? Is it the envelope delay?

Ah, interesting. Haven't thought of it as a transient shaper yet, and I should investigate its subtler sides. @@trevorb8827
@@trevorb8827 so not the 'transient reduction setting' then???

I have been dealing with an issue of triggering my 404 with the DT... What midi settings are you using on the 404?

Great channel, easily understandable content. This is the setup I’m looking to put together (modular X sampler)
In 2023 there's definitely still meat on that Digitakt
Unhinged indeed. Also entertaining and useful af 🙏
main problem of digitakt compressor sidechain is that you can't skip sidechain trigger (let's say kick) to be compressed tooo.. major disadvantage ...

Start. It sounds very nice.

Thanks bruv 😋
u should do some more digitakt videos :D
loved it
