I watch because it’s a dad and son sharing their insight and their relationship - difficulties and all. Apologies are good. That’s what people who love each other do.
Best part of the show is when Ray takes a left turn just can't help it. Lol I feel bad for Mrs car questions answered trying to control both Brandon and Ray. That shows gonna be crazy fun. Zach I don't think I'd be able to do a show with my dad. It's got it's ups and downs. Good luck. Lol
@@jrtaylor2288I believe it has something to do with Saudi Arabia bankrolling Lucent Automotive. Apparently Ray and Zack have very strong opposing positions on this and Ray just sort of stepped “into it” by bringing it up. It seems like a trivial subject but maybe there is more to the story that I don’t know about.
Enjoying your content. I learned along time ago that when you discover you have strong opposing viewpoints on religion or politics, it never becomes a topic of discussion in the future.
Yeah it was definitely taken down. I tried for hours yesterday afternoon to find it and couldn't. I rarely get a chance to watch live because of work and usually watch later in the afternoon, but it wasn't there. It is abundantly clear now why it isn't there, and I don't blame them. But we can not expect them to ALWAYS get along or share the same opinions. I think that whatever happens speaks to the fact that they're normal human beings that are passionate about what they do. So I am going to let them have this one and leave them alone about it. People disagree and it can get nasty. It is tough when that disagreement is public on a live show. I am happy they addressed it today though.
Watching yesterday's spat gave me this thought. Very different generations that had very different things taught to them. Listening to someone speak that has the absolute opposite views you do on sensitive issues was something I'm guessing Ray was taught is important and to be protected. Judging by how things are today Zachs Gen (and others) has the understanding if you don't agree with me not only are you wrong, but you must be silenced. All that in my opinion of course. In any case I enjoy listening to both of these guys. And I agree with what others have said in comments, Ray has the skins on the wall, for me he can ramble on about whatever the hell he wants for a while during a show.
I have bought 3 new cars in my life. First was an entry-level car ('85 Sentra), next was a 2001 F150 SuperCrew, and finally, a 2010 Escape. I can't envision buying another new car. Right now, we have a couple of old Fords and plan to drive them forever
Amazing how similar my situation is to yours. Currently I'm still driving the '06 ram diesel I bought new. Looking at the industry right now, it seems like they want me driving this same truck the rest of my life.
I love watching you guys and learning from you. I'm in need of two new vehicles but haven't pulled the trigger because prices are TOO high. The price increases over the last few years are insane. Boy am I glad that you guys opened my eyes before I got taken. I'm taking your advice and holding off until 2025 to see what happens. I'll just keep putting money into my old cars until the market is good enough to get my money.
I would love to be able to talk out my differences with my dad like you guys. We also work together but the ability to talk things out just isn't there unfortunately. Good for you guys to clear the air that way animosity doesn't build.
Vehicle prices are too high, with high interest rates, high inflation and lower reliability/quality. I think we have passed the reliability peak because they are overcomplicating them to meet green emission standards and provide all the nanny driving aids to overcome drivers playing with their cell phones. Good old supply vs demand will correct it.
Dad has worked his whole life, waking up every day for decades to sell cars and provide for Zach and the family. Ray knows right from wrong. He hates price gouging and hates when automotive CEOs cook the books and fires workers for their own personal gain. Ray sees through them. Ray knows what it takes to make an honest living. Because of Ray's lifelong sacrifice, Zach is in this fortunate position to run Car Edge. Ray's generation was physical work. Zach's generation is digital. Literally, if Ray wants to talk about purple Twinkies in the sky, he should be allowed to talk about purple Twinkies in the sky and Zach should support his dad. If Ray wants to rant about Lucent or price gouging, let him. The world needs to know. Ray's righteousness gives Car Edge more credibility, not less. Zach is a great son. Ray and Zach's relationship is rare and special. I wish them both the best but dad must never have to edit his thoughts.
With age comes wisdom and perspective. As you get older you realize you can’t please everyone, and you start being more “honest” with your opinion. Thats what we see from Ray. He’s not afraid to call out nonsense and craziness. Zach is young, and still trying to please all the people all the time. Cut him some slack. He’ll soon realize the power and freedom that comes from offending people that deserve to be offended.
Very well said! Kids these days are a bunch of low T betas. Zach seems cool and all, but he gives me leftie vibes. Would pay lots of money to hear Ray say “Make America Great Again” just to see Zach’s reaction.
Fleet sales for business purposes means that Section 179 depreciation/writeoffs or bonus depreciation are in play. Businesses, say Contractors, can write off the entire cost of an overpriced Truck in the first year of ownership. I suspect that those people who have written off such vehicles are about done buying them as they already have one. Tough times ahead for the car/truck industry around the world.
Government regulations And mandates makes it virtually impossible to build entry level vehicles at a profit. There is a market for inexpensive vehicles but there is NO INCENTIVE for auto manufacturers to build them.
Missed yesterdays show live, don't blame you for taking it down. Good on both of your for apologizing and letting it go. It's important to maintain good relations with family, but especially as we age. None of us will be around forever.
They learn that building cheap cars just for sake of building cars and not making money on them and exposing themselves to potential recalls and lawsuits makes no sense.. With all the bad news about economy one would think that car manufacturers would be desperate and today it is not the case..
I had about $1000/month of disposable income. Food inflation and increases in my home and car insurance premiums over the last two years have taken it all. It sucks sitting on the sidelines looking at all the good incentives coming in knowing you can no longer afford a new car.
Growing up with rich farmers. People use to trade for new cars yearly. The joke use to be, the ashtray got full, it was time to trade the car off. Those days are gone. I remember a article about a man who bought a new dodge pickup for 19 years in a row.
You made a mistake on the show. You apologized on the show. It was sincere, and it's clear you two have always had a mutual respect and love for each other. I worked with my dad for 10 years. Believe me, I get it.
Our local Chevy dealership, Houston area, number 3 in the nation in the past, sells about 400 vehicles a month. Truck sales have slowed lately, but the new Trax is a hot sellter!
Get back to F-150 xl work trucks under 29k and you will make up sales numbers by the large number of trucks you will sell. Also, you will help the economy all around because then I can start to hire the new employees I want to, but can’t afford to now…
On the computer thing, I would use a tower with a terrestrial connection in your home locations. That should really increase your reliability. Also, unfortunately for Mac fans, most software runs better on PC. You can also get PC with better video cards which should also help.
Companies want to sell one item for a million dollars then a million items for one dollar. It is easier to deal with one problem then a million problems.
Its not just about lowering the price of the car/trucks under 15k. Must include salaries, job security, opportunities, price and interest rate, lower repair and maintence costs. A mouthful
This JUST IN! Auto dealers say dealerships are BEST WAY to buy a car! In other news, it's been determined that the moon REALLY IS made of green cheese.
Hmm, I guess some drama for those that watched it live yesterday. I'm curious what happened, but since they didn't post it for us "dead" viewers, I guess I'll never know.
Don't feel bad, I was watching, and I still don't understand what happened. I was just skipping back trying to figure out why Zach just dropped the F-bomb on his dad when the stream ended.
For people to accept a negotiation-free purchasing system for vehicles they first need to have confidence that the dealers they are working with are being fair and trustworthy. Thus far, I believe for most people they have had prior experiences that make that level of trust unattainable. For example, our local Ford dealer just charged my wife $536 to replace a coil and spark plug in our Fusion. Then the technician replaced the coil in the wrong cylinder, leaving the bad one in the car and tossing out one that was working fine. I took over and replaced all remaining old coils and plugs by purchasing quality parts on line. It cost me $162 including tax and shipping, and less than an hour to replace these parts in the three remaining cylinders while the dealer charged her $536 for just one and then replaced the wrong one. What a massive ripoff! After experiences like this would you expect a customer to feel comfortable accepting a negotiation-free price from that dealer?
Come on man I would be so proud to have Zach as my son. He's a great kid with a great work ethic. Ray I awesome obviously but this wouldn't even be a thing without Zach
I think you're judging from the worst intentions. Ray can get unhinged and make unsavory comments that could hurt the brand, and zach can be a bit sensitive to that. When you're looking at it with best intentions, it's easy to see rays trying to provide the most entertaining and informative content possible and zachs trying to make sure they can keep doing this together
This is why politics are what they are. Zach, you gotta suck it up dude. Disagreements happen, handling them professionally is where transparency, trust, and reliance are built. BTW, your dad's opinion is correct. 😜
Ray, u are a gem , u should have your own show commenting on everything! it would be fun to watch , plus u raised a very respectful son which is nearly impossible these days ! Love the channel !

had so many cars made in the 60's that were basic but did well more along lines of the first VW bugs these really could be built today cheaply if they wanted do. some of these cars were small enough a lawn mower motor could run them
Yeah, you can do that. However, you need to be happy with barely any HP and not as good of gas mileage as cars can get because of how old the tech is in those cars. It is also getting harder to get parts for older toyotas from the 80s and early 90s. There are plenty of issues with mid 90s toyotas. Their transmissions are not great. They're ok...but not great. Had a 95 corolla need 2 transmissions but that was over 250k miles. Had a 95 Camry that needed a transmission at 130k miles. So to tell people "Drive it forever" without telling people that stuff will still be needed, is irresponsible by Scotty. He doesn't give you all the information. He is only relating his experience with the car that HE HAS CURRENTLY. Not everyone has the same experience. Remember that. My 91 Celica needed head gaskets at 150k miles. it wasn't cheap. My 98 Avalon needed complete suspension overhaul at 100k miles!!! That was in 2004 when it was only 7 years old. So do not think that Toyota just means quality, especially from those years. Also....look at the issues Toyota is having now....just saying.
I'd prever automobile dealerships, were there for only vehicle maintenance and a place to test drive and pickup vehicles ordered through the varying car brands website.
Love the crowd source database! I’ve been trying to figure out where I can go with already advertised discounted ‘24 super duty’s as much as 15% off msrp
Speaking of the EU marketplace they have far more diverse selections of vehicles from more manufactures across Europe and Asia than the United States house. They have those entry-level cars they have cars that don't cost 60 and 70,000 . I've seen many cars watching the UK car shows that I wish they would sell here in this country but if they did, they probably be 4050 $60,000 here also.
To Ray's point about the negotiation-free argument. As someone who has purchased a car recently, I found it completely frustrating to deal with, car has been sitting for hundreds of days but the price is what it is, MSRP and maybe a few dollars off if it has been sitting. Negotiation-free does not mean a fair price because they operate in their favor, especially when there are only one or two dealerships that own everyone else. They set the prices and if you want it, you pay for it.
They probably can't get away with that much longer. They're paying the interest on all those cars that haven't sold and then what are they going to do if they keep not being able to sell them? Better to take a smaller loss now then a much larger loss down the road or end up closing or selling the dealership.
...as a brand new Trax drives by my house for the first time... A thought occurred last night: When I was in auto tech school in 2016, the instructors carried a sense of enthusiasm for emerging technologies being implemented. ADAS, Atkinson cycles, heroic little turbo engines, lightning-fast CANs, robust EV's, the works. It seemed like a golden age was upon us. Fast forward 8 years later, and the sentiment has competely flipped. Collision repairs cost a fortune, engines are overstressed, quality control takes a back seat, marketing dept. tells the engineers what to do, nobody is driving any safer, and mechanics are still underpaid. What a twist! I'm also not a mechanic anymore.
Thats it! Ive had enough! Im going to start my own show and website called Car Corner. My daily video will be uploaded 3hrs after Ray and Zach so i can repeat everything they say word for word.
DOC fees are easy to avoid. Negotiate your best price and I mean squeeze them good... Then tell the dealer you will NOT pay the DOC fee. They will say "everyone pays the DOC fee". You say "well i'll pay on paper it if you reduce the top line price by the cost of the DOC fee" Done this on every car deal and it works 100% of the time.
Why does the difference between a used car with one year back of the current model year, still so large. As an example, a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime SE (or XSE) vs the 2024 model? In my area at least, a brand new RAV4 Prime is LESS expensive than a used 2023 model. :(
i have been looking to buy a vehicle for over a year.. its either the price is to high or the car is not the quality promised... good thing it was in that order
Real man apologize when they're wrong don't ever say you're sorry it shows weakness saying you apologize is correct I enjoy you guys I watch Everyday episode
Sign after sign that Legacy Auto especially the Detroit 3 are in serious trouble. Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram(@Stellantis) is leading the pack when it comes to going off a cliff. The signs are everywhere that the automotive industry is sick, but it's not making it to the media. It's like they were holding off on bad news for...let's say "political" reasons.
Dealers wanna sell less for more. They're not interested in low end low margin vehicles. Thats not going to change. Direct manufacturer to customer sales is the only way we're ever going to see low end vehicles made in quantity again. I miss the days when you could buy a cheap small pickup- 4cyl, crank windows, no a/c... There isn't anything available like that anymore. When I was in the Marine Corps in the '80s the base parking lots were full of fairly new econo box vehicles that theres nothing like available anymore. Guys had a steady paycheck and no way to work on a vehicle. Inexpensive new vehicles made lotsa sence.
hm, its not just American vehicles having problems selling, others are too . most of the slow down in auto sales generally, is that those ordering vehicles have so any 'lessons' from the pandemic. one being they can sell anything that they order, either to the customer in front of them, or the next one in the door will buy, so they got used to not working so hard to sell. they also learned (which OEMs learned too) that more expensive vehicles are more profitable. oh and the supply chain crash, made it so that very few vehicles were on lots (some dealers could only get 20-30 vehicles as opposed to their normal which might 200-300 vehicles. influences the vehicles on lots. cause they lean towards the higher cost versions. so having nothing but expensive vehicles on their lots its gotten really hard to sell now that customers are a lot more sensitive to prices . course banks are now gun shy on auto loans, so loans are much harder to get, course they also wont making many if any loans over MSRP anymore. course during the pandemic al sort of OEMs programs were ...cancelled, like there were programs that assisted dealers with local adds (it used be that only a few brands had adds. Buick among others). those have come back. there also were incentives for dealers customers on select products. since dealers could sell everything they got without them, they didnt care about this. these are back too. for the same reason, and OEMs have financing incentives, low interest rates.
My recommendation is to never buy a used Nissan Product Joshua. Also...I live in the Austin area and would not recommend buying a 350Z from a private seller. They're almost always driven hard and they have known issues.
The generational Dynamic between Ray & Zak is a good one. Especially with the long history of the US auto industry and changing demographics, car types & models. Whenever you address factors of globalization in manufacturing and investment you are bound to say something shocking or offensive to someone. Greed is at the core of capitalism always.
We love and drive only Toyotas ,that being said, Why is it that Toyota thinks that we want an ugly tv screen instead of a good CD player in the middle of the dash ,and we have to pay for it ? In addition ,what is with the big, boxy front grill design ? What happened to beautiful styling and sleek lines, Do you really think our cars should look like Caterpillar excavators ?
I'm so glad you said this. I hate that ugly tablet screen stuck into the dash. I will not buy a Corolla because of it. Honda did the same in the civic, but a year later, I think. It's horrible looking.
Rented a Toyota a couple of years ago. It was a nice car. Except for that ugly a$$ screen. It looked like an afterthought. Wasn't molded into the dash at all. Drove a 2024 buick last month. Same thing. Just extend the dash to enclose the screen. Would look so much better.
You all talk about the out-the-door price. How can regular people who are not automobile professionals gauge a fair out-the-door price? Can you please provide some resources?
I love how you two are so raw and honest. Very refreshing to see you both show us what forgiveness and love looks like. ❤

IKR. I'll take my 01 crown vic lx and a 13 tacoma prerunner
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd prever automobile dealerships, were there for only vehicle maintenance and a place to test drive and pickup vehicles ordered through the varying car brands website.
Who would want to buy a car that cost as much like a house.
The reason I watched the shows for entertainment and information and today just felt like Ray was not able to do that.
These guys work through their lunch time, unless they have a long lunch afterwards, at least Ray anyway.
33:43 I like your service contract pricing tool to also give you an idea of how reliable a car is
Not a big deal. Everyone has stuff happen, just shake it off! 😊❤
😮😮😮😮😮😮😅people stop buying cars let the prices go down
Thats it! Ive had enough! Im going to start my own show and website called Car Corner. My daily video will be uploaded 3hrs after Ray and Zach so i can repeat everything they say word for word.
don’t you mean…
CarCorny?😳
Thats your problem. MACBOOK PROS. Never stream via WiFi. Hard wired only!
So that’s why the video from yesterday is gone.
Well built, desirable, entry level cars sell well and make lifelong customers.
DOC fees are easy to avoid. Negotiate your best price and I mean squeeze them good... Then tell the dealer you will NOT pay the DOC fee. They will say "everyone pays the DOC fee". You say "well i'll pay on paper it if you reduce the top line price by the cost of the DOC fee" Done this on every car deal and it works 100% of the time.
... cheesh! I missed the knock down drag-out yesterday? If it'd been my Dad (RIP) and I, the company would be gone today.
I have 2012 Ford Mustang has 160k trouble free miles going to drive it till the wheels fall off. Love having no car payment.
Yeah! Its hard to sell expensive cars to a population going broke.
Why does the difference between a used car with one year back of the current model year, still so large. As an example, a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime SE (or XSE) vs the 2024 model? In my area at least, a brand new RAV4 Prime is LESS expensive than a used 2023 model. :(
Agree, if your buying a Toyota, better to buy new.
Humility is a good signal of maturity .
i have been looking to buy a vehicle for over a year.. its either the price is to high or the car is not the quality promised... good thing it was in that order
So that’s why I couldn’t find your video from Tuesday.
My 2014 Acura was $27,000 in 2014, they haven’t done anything new to make the new ones over $20,,000 more today.
Free Ray!!! 📢
Casual day car edge 😂
Real man apologize when they're wrong don't ever say you're sorry it shows weakness saying you apologize is correct I enjoy you guys I watch Everyday episode
I tried looking for the mention video but can't find it. Can someone explain exactly what happened. I love this show.
when govt. and big business work together, that's fascism.
No, in the US that is apparently the lefty definition of 'democracy'.
That is not fascism.
Manufacturers are hoping that Americans will be silly enough to start borrowing money to buy vehicles that they can't afford again.
Family fights, I GET IT.😊
Dealers wanna sell less for more.
Wowww the one time I miss popps n son go off I miss it lol
hm, its not just American vehicles having problems selling, others are too . most of the slow down in auto sales generally, is that those ordering vehicles have so any 'lessons' from the pandemic. one being they can sell anything that they order, either to the customer in front of them, or the next one in the door will buy, so they got used to not working so hard to sell. they also learned (which OEMs learned too) that more expensive vehicles are more profitable. oh and the supply chain crash, made it so that very few vehicles were on lots (some dealers could only get 20-30 vehicles as opposed to their normal which might 200-300 vehicles. influences the vehicles on lots. cause they lean towards the higher cost versions. so having nothing but expensive vehicles on their lots its gotten really hard to sell now that customers are a lot more sensitive to prices . course banks are now gun shy on auto loans, so loans are much harder to get, course they also wont making many if any loans over MSRP anymore. course during the pandemic al sort of OEMs programs were ...cancelled, like there were programs that assisted dealers with local adds (it used be that only a few brands had adds. Buick among others). those have come back. there also were incentives for dealers customers on select products. since dealers could sell everything they got without them, they didnt care about this. these are back too. for the same reason, and OEMs have financing incentives, low interest rates.
For Halloween, Ray should dress as the Iron Shiek.
Because we do want a screen not a cd player.
@@NickVetter u do - not everyone
Cars are now extensions of smartphones. The mfrs assume everyone loves their phones because they walk around all day with their faces in them.
I want to see that show
i missed it too... and its been shelved
doc fees and such are to me a rip off. once went to buy an auto that I felt was worth 300 or so the doc fees were 1000
Economy blows hello!
Did you remove that stream? I didnt see anything for yesterday
Based Big Ray and Lil Zach
Interest rates have alot to do with car sales
Fuel costs making a difference?, as it goes up, people need less big guzzlers to commute in.
Good.
I've been looking at the Toyota Crown one of their only sedans. Although it's a bit of a crossover, what do you guys think about it?
You all talk about the out-the-door price. How can regular people who are not automobile professionals gauge a fair out-the-door price? Can you please provide some resources?
the price range should start at $10k. It absurd a Corolla starts over $20k.
