- If you have a solar panel system with SolarEdge Optimizers, inverters, or batteries this video was created to give you insight on what you need to know about owning a SolarEdge or SolarEdge HD Wave solar panel system.
The first thing you want to do is get verify your solar inverter or converter is connected to the internet. This will allow you to see what is wrong and to get replacement parts under warranty.
SolarEdge is one of the largest solar electronics manufacturers in the world. These solar products will break and your solar panels will need to be repaired. In this video, Brandan from Solar GOAT will walk you through the basics of what you need to know.

SolarEdge don't gave me any warranty.
I have one that broke twice within 6 months.
I have 10K solaredge inverters and had to restart one a couple times. They claim they monitor it but I didnt get any alert or call. It wasnt until I noticed in my app after randomly checking it a week after it went out. A reboot fixed it.
Here in Arizona, I've had the plastic on the MC4 connectors literally disintegrate. Not even in the sun. They replaced all of them under warranty but would not pay for the labor.
Very unhappy with solar edge and their customer service. I’m on my third inverter and they won’t even offer extended warranties. The supervisor from SE said look at your warranty coverage and said I’m out of luck. Terrible company
Same, except since I can't contact them I didn't enve know they existed.
My 7.5 KW HD wave inverter died after one month, the service technician pointed out a resistor that failed. Two weeks for an RMA and it was broken out of the box. Solar edge support asked for a picture of the circuit board and immediately identified it as a faulty unit looking at the same resistor. Another two weeks and the second RMA unit was dead too. I saw a small metal heat shield attached to the offending resistor with silicone and apparently that is how they know a RMA unit and know it is not going to work. A couple of weeks later and an official solar edge technician came from Phoenix and put in a fourth inverter. It will only operate with the battery in backup mode and not in maximum self consumption. So 4 inverters and still not working correctly. I buy the cheapest stereo from China and it lasts for years. And to add insult to injury you can't control your own system. The installer has to change from backup only to self consumption.
I'm doing research prior to receiving quotes and I'm consistently seeing stories like yours from installers and homeowners.... way too many reports of them failing within 2 years waiting two months replacement for that one to end up dead-on-arrival... installers on Reddit have been calculating a 30% failure rate...
High failure rate - how can that be a recommended product? ( I have 2 SE inverters failed within 5 years)

Hey bro we always get new guys in our company that are always hungry for knowledge on the basics u should make videos on how to put a foot down or string line rail or do a penetration or a layout ,prying shingle ,finding the stud lots of techniques ….. i feel like it would get u more views and we can show new installers ur channel for a reference.

Great video! How much can I expect to pay to replace an optimizer (ball park)? I just have 1 optimizer go bad and wondered what the cost range could be.

Both of my SolarEdge inverters are junk. I'm constantly power cycling them for cell communication issues. Can't get support now that Titan went under (along with my 25 year warrantee).

Replaced the old inverter with a warranty replacement supplied by solar edge. The new one even after rebooting is having the same issue and will not recognize the power switch and won’t link up. Any ideas

What company do you have? Mine is Eco Management System and they don't gave me any warranty.
Looks like SolarEdge gave them a bit of an upgrade. With a newer HD Wave inverter and backup interface system, is it easier to come back later and add an additional inverter, battery, array, etc?
First off, thanks for the coffee. Yeah solaredge doesn’t really make or inventory there older models so when an inverter goes out they give you the most recent version. If you want to add on accessories I’d highly recommend getting the new “energy hub” version of the HD wave inverter. If you have that model you will be able to add more panels, batteries, car chargers etc. and you won’t have to replace the core unit.
@@solargoat I do have the 7600 Energy Hub with BUI and LG RESU Prime 10H. I was told I can add another 10H for more storage, but it will not increase my backup output. Is it correct that I can add another Energy Hub if I want to add another 10H or even a 16H to achieve higher output rather than simply expand storage? Will I need another solar array feeding the follower inverter?
That’s one of the things I like about solaredge. No shortage of options. If your on a budget you could even just install a regular HD wave inverter for more backup power during sun hours. I would definitely recommend a dual inverter and dual battery set up and the 16H is worth every penny.
My Solar Edge inverter is showing error 18xb7. Solar Edge has authorized replacement under warranty. They say I have to call my original installer. They are unreachable. How in the world do I get my inverter replaced. Anyone out there no of an Installer in Southern California I could contact?
My system is connected via cellular. My solar edge app wants wifi but app won't connect via WiFi. Its cellular so why would it need wifi
Wi-Fi needs a kit that looks like a cellular one…. Inverter doesn’t have a built in antenna… you don’t need redundancy
@@solargoat I can see it broadcasting a network. I can connect to it but can't setup my solaredge app. Keeps saying contact support.
Solar edge sucks I have had nothing but problems and no in stallers in California and they are from here
