Mino was my first tier 10 ship and is still one of my go-to's. If you ever have a "score citadels in a cruiser" mission, take her to coop and blast bots' broadsides for a painless 20x ribbons or so.
You missed that one of her gimmicks is the ability to accelerate into a turn and decelerate out of the turn which is backwards from most other lines, it's fairly unobvious until you start to pay attention to it but it can be quite useful especially with a radar build.
The Minotaur is still one of the most dangerous ships in the game, IMO. It favors being a simultaneously sneaky and ballsy shit. The trick is being more dangerous to everything else than everything is to you.
Actually, the Queen of HE spamming back when the game went live was the tier 4 USN cruiser the St Louis. She came out when the game was still in closed beta testing, and was so awesome higher tier ships were given regular guns with regular rates of fire so as to not be OP. That worked until the Atlanta came out, also in beta, and the pew-pew race was on.
I got reported in a mino recent. I got caught out of position open water and a 70% health Preussen came out behind an island about 8 km away. He just stopped. I smoked and just held the left mouse button down until he died. I have no idea what he was thinking! 😂
I was in that match! Or pretty sure I was. Late in the match asked (close to) "Why reporting me?" We were getting our asses handed to us and I got mine shot off too early. But I remember there being a Mino on my side and asking about the reporting for "killing the Preussen."
A well played Minotaur is a very dangerous ship; will chew up BB superstructure, will decimate DDs and be a pain for other cruisers to deal with. And a well played Radar Mino can be a literal game winner. Sure it gets punished hard if caught broadside but if you can learn to throttle juke and kite effectively, BBs will literally get bored of not being able to hit you and shoot at something else. Mino was my first T10 and I still enjoy it.
Sealord, I am appalled that you have let a beast like the Mino just sit in your port un-played. As soon as I got it I have loved this ship. It's an absolute DD murderer and with good island cover you can be a real thorn in the side of any enemy flank
I grinded Mino line few years ago but avoided to play her, favorizing other ships. (with that blown by single salvo or made of explodium thought). When I picked her for few runs, I was aware of its paper armor. But the ship is quite good, concealment od nice, guns do best job on DDs. I tried even radar. But playing just few matches didn't gave me that good game yet. I need to come back to her for some fun.
Good points on the British Light Cruiser Line SLM. Yes add the smoke mod, only begin smoke after your under 3/4 speed so you can stop before exiting your smoke screen (its like that ship line does not reverse props until the crew is off lunch break). Using one of the British Dunkirk brothers will help a lot with the consumables (also lengthens smoke action time etc), plus they will speed up the turret traverse on slower cruisers (Esp if your lucky enough to have the Belfast it has gerbil turning gears).
I just got the Minotaur recently. Been trying to get accustomed to the play style, but this video was nice and a bit inspiring, for me to keep playing my Mino. Thanks Sea Lord!
Hi SLM, the radar Mino is my favourite and it is the team player edition. Mine is fitted with the made of steel camo and bonus. She is not made of tissue paper. She is made of wet tissue paper. My personal record of 4.1Mio potential damage is with the radar Mino. She just needs a bit of play with the throttle and the steering.
I've got mine 4th "Solo Warrior" on my minotaur; and that wasn't just a laky situation, i ended up alone against 4 ships (Desmoines, Amagi, Shimakaze, Halland) and i had to fight and to caputere two bases to win; I even sank the amagi. Anyeway that ship make me anxious, i play it when it is the right ship for the quest i want work on.
She's a glorious ship, just don't get caught broadside to ANYTHING because that tissue paper armour will help you realise that it's made entirely of citadels lol
British light cruisers were my 1st line of ships, I still remember the pain of a noob trying to xp them 😂😂 , my worst nightmare was playing Neptune and realize an Izumo is looking at me....
@Smenkhaare All of them are floating citadels but some have the tools to be great ships for their tier... But Neptune was/is bad for the tier, I was a total noob too and as a result I still have Izumophobia, not Montana not Yamato not Iowa, only Izumo....
Speaking of British ships I really wish War Gaming would add more ships like the Glow Worm. They keep on adding these tier 10 Premiums while neglecting the huge abundance of possible tier 5-8 ships.

Concealment is actually 9.05, not 10km. Power creep aside, what a fun ship. I wish WG would buff the torp range, though, 10km is a bit short these days.
8:25 I'd say that for the most part you should keep doing that, just dump the torps in a normal way, whole launcher at the time. Same goes for all ships that have single launch option. It's way too often that I see people dumping some way too overconfident conga lines that miss completely, it rarely works. And even more often I see them creating a spread of their own design for no reason, and it almost always ends up being significantly worse than a normal spread, with horribly uneven spacing, and holes that you could fit a Vermont through at 1 km. The single launch does have its uses, but it using it as the default launch mode is dumb unless you really know what you are doing. It's great for when an enemy is at close range, there's basically no chance of them dodging, and a normal spread can't get you enough hits to kill them. It's also good for a last hail mary attempt when hitting like 3 torps from a spread isn't enough to win you the game, but a conga line could. It also can work against a target that's camping an island, but in those cases it is also a bit of an all or nothing strat as it's often easier for them to dodge than a normal spread, especially if they have hydro on. And in a bit of a rare case, you can spare some crucial torps if you have to deal with two or more targets and like one or two torps is enough to kill one of them. Finally, in some cases you can launch a whole launcher without exposing yourself from behind an island, whereas a normal spread would mean that you either need to go out more and risk getting killed, or some of the torps will hit the island.
You see more Brisbane variants of Mino lately. But there are many 8 year old ships you can see if you come down out of top tier. I tend to play a lot of them, coz tiers 6-8 are more fun that tier 9 and 10.
I don’t have the Minotaur, but I aquired her Commonwealth counterpart, the Brisbane. I tried to play Brisbane a bit, but got absolutely murdered cuz I didn’t understand her armor lol.
I loved to play her. Especially if there were "number of hits" missions. It's a oversized DD and if you managed your torps, you could stealth torp every bigger ships. Also one of my most fun kills. I sailed around a corner with a JB and found another BB at something like 13-15 km sitting broadside. On one shot the unspotted Mino sitting between him and me. The first real HE spammer were the Cleveland (at T6 before the cruiser split) and the 155m Mogami. If you abused the caliber and spotting rules then, you could sitting in the middle of the ocean and shot without being spotted.
You had an og Belfast (not a Belfast '43) and sold it back to WG?!? WHY?!?!?!? Belfast has creeping smoke, I'm not aware of any changes to that mechanic.
I find mixing up what you play helps a fair bit, keeping up with various game play styles. While I prefer my BBs, sometimes a light cruiser or DD is just refreshing to play.
Ah yes, the glorious naval tactics of old-where mighty battleships bravely parked behind rocks and majestically lobbed shells at each other from maximum range. Truly, the stuff of legends. (a critic of the game, not you. love your vids, btw)
SL, you mentioned the cinematics you have done. How about, for examples,; The Battle of the River Plate, Java Sea, the actions off the Solomon Islands, Surigao Straights, Cape Matapan.
Its ironic that Tiger, widely held to be the worst premium in game, is just about the only ship in the game that has a real-world rate and sustainability of fire.
@@turbogerbil2935 Why? I just said Minotaur had the 1.5sec in real life so in game it actually fires more slowly than it should. I would imagine there are a lot that have actual real world loading and firing speeds.
Minotaur is awesome in 1 v1 brawls. You can tropedo the crap out of BBs and CLs, and shoot the crap out of DDs. It works a treat because no one is expecting it.
@@RUHappyATM You didn't read what I said. There's no one to spot for you in a *1v1* brawl. And there is also no one to spot for them (altough using your ASW air strike and radar or hydro can be useful) Just hit W and try to stay concealed as long as you can. It's quite a bit like playing Paolo Emilio. Except you have massive DPM as well and improved repair party. You only need to surivive them by a fraction of a second. I reckon you get about 60-70% WR in 1v1 brawls with Minotaur.
There are circumstances when even an HE spammer will use AP. In a previous match, my Smolensk caught a Pan-Asian 'DD with a citadel' broadside and scored enough citadel hits that the ship sank with a single salvo, from full health. I forgot to go back to HE. In the next match, my Smolensk was at 60k of damage, before I noticed that I had started no fires. AP spam is a thing! Fortunately, the Minotaur is at the end of a tech line that all share the same quirks, so grinding through the Neptune will prepare you for the Minotaur. If you must fire HE from a Minotaur, the Tier X coal ship Brisbane is a Commonwealth version of the Minotaur that sacrifices rate of fire for the option of firing HE.
Yeah. Not sure about higher tier because I'm only up to T8 in the Russian DD lines, but at lower tier Russian small caliber AP is hilarious because cruisers often think they can go broadside to the destroyer and oh boy can you prove them wrong.
@taiko1237 Russian DDs are great fun., The tier V Russian premium DD Okhotnik is also hilarious: Lots of torpedoes with a fast reload and seven of those high velocity 130mm guns. Although, the Okhotniks guns are slow to traverse. Once the Russian DDs get the 130mm guns, the damage and penetration stay the same, but the traverse and reload speed get better, as the tiers progress. The British 4.7" (120mm) DD guns are also rude surprises to light cruisers. A word of warning: Tactics that work amazingly well for Russian DDs completely fail when playing the European DDs. Any BB and too many cruisers will absorb a complete set of European torpedoes, without sinking.
@ The only EU DD I have is Kalmar so I should be fine, and since I only acquired Kiev and Ognevoi fairly recently I'm more used to the 4km suicide/knife-fighting/island ambush torps that the low tier Russian DDs have. I recall one battle in Anshan (Pan Asian Gnevny with actually useful torpedoes) where I sank two light cruisers who sailed past my smokescreen in succession, for a total of like 16 citadels lol
The super ships are the only functional aspect of the game, but they’ve made them prohibitively expensive to acquire or play (except during public tests). I love the public test games! if the techlines were functional, you wouldn't running into the spam coming out of the premium shop. Don't know how many matches I've been in where Premium shop ships outnumber the techlines by factors 3 to 5 to 1
@ I have tons of premiums ships and most were given to me in free events or containers. I still prefer my tech tree ships in many cases as do many others if you go look at reviews of top ships from popular players here. They will be a mix of premium and tech tree, but plenty of tech tree are great, fun, useful ships. Just because the other team might have more premiums or potentially more 'super ships' another term for tier11, doesn't mean they're going to be better and automatically win by any means. One of my favorite ships is a tech tree tier VII destroyer that is often up tiered to IX random battles and I still have great games and plenty of wins. Overly focusing on such details probably/potentially impairs your ability to have better success here. I have played public test and tried out these ships which is why I'm saying they're nothing super special compared to other ships. I suggest people go to public test to test out the tech tree lines so they know what ships they actually like instead of having to wait until you grind through the unlock to find out. Then they can grind for the ships they know they want.
Legendary powderkeg for sure. Blows up nicely when someone looks and frowns in your direction. Way too punishing for my taste and too brittle. Would much rather take a worcester or des moines, thought it can do well indeed.
playing any of these rapid-fire ships can be exhausting. just how many of these types of ships can any one person play in a row? doesn't your shooting finger get tired? maybe the game should have an auto fire option for these ships.
I do remember playing Minotaur in brawl, and maybe random.. But I wanted the Japanese line of CA's so I ended up resetting the line. she has smoke, and lots of it if you get the MOD. and that's not nothing.. though T10 has quite a bit of radar ... I don't have any BBs at T10, or T9.. but for the ones the game has gifted me. Still mostly play the Buffalo and Des Moines. trade off is no smoke or torps.. and that blows chunks when you start running into the spamy crap that flow from the Premium shop. Pay to win nonsense.
I have been here for 9 years also in WoWs. From what I have seen of the staff at Wargaming recently, you not getting that guy back. I think one of the WoWs staff handle is DEIHIRE422. Bogzie looks out of place IMO. Instead of a topless DASHA on a flightdeck, we get 300 lb nerds now. Yay.
With the mixed experiences in that tech tree, it is understandable if you grind the line but skip buying the T10 ship. I have yet to buy the Minotaur though I finished that line a year or so ago, the Neptune was painful... A T10 ship costs 25 megacreds including modules, if you factor in clan rebates, a T9 ship 25 if DD or CC, 28, if BB. I still have to grind 17 T9 ships, so the creds rather go that was.

My Atlanta spams HE like a boss! LOL
My best game in mino is 215k and I always play this thing danger close. It's such a fun ship to play im really considering edgar
Legendary powderkeg for sure. Blows up nicely when someone looks and frowns in your direction. Way too punishing for my taste and too brittle. Would much rather take a worcester or des moines, thought it can do well indeed.
Funny, I joined in 2016 and I'm now on Neptune.
71 ricochet on that Hildebrand.....''hybrids are BALANCED'''.....
I have been trying the Goliath in pts, i must say that i like it, her guns slap hard... But the range... It needs more range
playing any of these rapid-fire ships can be exhausting. just how many of these types of ships can any one person play in a row? doesn't your shooting finger get tired? maybe the game should have an auto fire option for these ships.
You can just hold down left mouse…
@@sealordmountbatten never knew that, lol, in all the years I've played. ty
Ah yes, the HMS First Blood. My favorite target ^^,
what kept you so long?
Exact opposite of my play style
Nice! 15:50
I like her and a radar eddy.
She is the largest dd in the game :)
yeah but one salvo from any bb or cruiser and your dev struck out of the game
I have been here for 9 years also in WoWs. From what I have seen of the staff at Wargaming recently, you not getting that guy back. I think one of the WoWs staff handle is DEIHIRE422. Bogzie looks out of place IMO. Instead of a topless DASHA on a flightdeck, we get 300 lb nerds now. Yay.
UK CAs are just over sized DDs
It took you 8 years to grind one tech tree line? hmmmmmmm
CV players - avoid at all costs.
You'd think so, but it's AA is next to useless just like the worcester. T10 CVs will get their drops off on you no matter what.
Malta, have a feast.
Essex and immelman just dont care
@ Lol not in my experience.
@ Not if it has a partner.
A good mino player will give you a very bad time.
I prefere Brisbane for HE
Cool I’m here early
