- Overview of a 2019 IC CE powered by the Power Solutions International 8.8L gas motor. The motor itself is 8 cylinders and was redesigned from the ground up, based on the original 8.1 Chevy big block. The engine is paired with an Allison Transmission. This particular bus also runs air disc brakes.
There are many benefits in changing over a fleet from diesel to gas power, though it's a very complex decision. I have spent the last 7 months researching and studying gas, propane, and diesel buses, meeting with many hundreds of fleet operators who are thrilled at the opportunity to run gas powered buses, while some are just as happy sticking with diesel. The adoption of these so far has been very good.
