I still really love this final showdown after 10 years between Kruger and Max Opposite sides of the coin; one fighting for the lower class citizens the other wanting his own prison to trap the rich and elite The Japanese garden-like quality in the background is a nice visual aesthetic Almost resembles an anime My heart breaks everytime seeing Max die giving his life to give everyone else a chance At least his dream finally came true to make it to Elysium and he helped Freya’s daughter have a future
Unfortunately this technology is far far off. But there are a lot of medical achievements that are much closer to being achieved. Biology as we understand it today is only around 200 years old, and look at what we’ve achieved already. We don’t have to go to space to cure leukemia. But perhaps in just 1 or 2 generations we can help those afflicted with to live a normal healthy life.

This movie really gets the short end of the stick. It's really cool and captures the cyberpunk vibe it was going for, with great detail. Sure, it's s bit cheesy, but it's awesome as is.
In all events, the Elysians could’ve sent more resources to earth without impacting their economy too much. They obviously had spacecraft. You can move a Lot of stuff when you’re not planet bound.
I think you're forgetting the part where it doesn't matter wether or not they go to elysium, considering that the aid goes to THEM and they don't have to go fight for the good stuff now, I'm sure Elysium would go offline in favor of actually helping the rest of the planet.

This movie had so many plot holes. A few things that always got me: 1) The fact that they didn't get blasted out of the sky when attempting to approach Elysium because somehow they only seem to have 1 cannon. 2) The fact that both the mercenary crew and outlaw protagonists were able to run amock on the station virtually unchallenged when it should have been swarming with security and military personnel.
I like to think the design for Kruger was just “yeah bro let’s have this guy, and he’s in an exo suit, and he’s got like, a fucking katana and shurikans that explode and is a psychopath and also South African”

Another "view" of that functional aesthetic is that it's the future and perhaps there was genetic engineering similar, but a lot more primitive, to the med bays on Elysium. The world takes place in that strange relationship of technology and extreme poverty so there's gangbanging with hard tech and that could go along with martial arts. While not shown in the film, I'm sure there's a lot of crazy violence across the globe and as with any poverty-stricken area people have to learn to protect themselves and maybe gangs learned Krav Maga or any fighting style from a film they found. Or someone who knew a fighting style and was killed was respected by living gang members by learning how to fight like them from a video or some tech handed down or something. Maybe if he was part of a gang it was mandatory to learn how to fight effectively and ruthlessly against other gangs who also could street fight merged with traditional/military styles. A lot of people go to youtube to learn Krav Maga or Muay Thai and while it's not the real class with an instructor it's experience regardless and I'm sure Max had plenty of that. Not sure about a standing government, nation or military in this universe so maybe there is some structure and it involves self defense for those in that group. Very weird juxtaposition of sci fi tech and poverty that in todays society would not produce scientific-savvy gangsters but it also could be in the movie for an audience to make the most of themselves showing them that someone living a bad life can redeem themselves and think about others lives for a better community or world. It's just part of the world in the end. Who knows maybe Max had mercenary training not made by CCB (or whatever) but by Neo-Cartels or something before the movie began. Or it all could just be bullshit but it was a cool movie
Yes there is. Kruger is done being used, tired of death and respects the fighting spirit of his adversary. Watch the final duel of the original Highlander film and you’ll potentially see the parallels. Kruger wants him to win. He even mentions the little girl because he desperately wants his adversary to muster up every fibre of his being. Just once Kruger wants to see good triumph.

The action scenes were often utterly ruined by all of the "Dr. Shaky Cam" antics. 🤮 What a tragedy, too. Reminds me of how much was lost in the "Bourne" films because of all the frenzied antics. 🙄 If the moviegoer can't follow the action, then it all ends up as "whizz-bang-zoom" until the predictable victory arrives.
