    i watched the video on replacing 2014 GMC headlight assembly. The video was absolutely fabulous, step by step, easy to understand and gave you the required tools needed. Mind you, I never tackled a car repair myself but after watching the video, I decided to order the part from 1A Auto and do the installation myself. The part came in 3 days and it took me about 1/2 hour to replace the headlight assembly and it is working beautifully. Thank you for the video and I will totally recommend you to my friends and family.

    For a 2014 Terrain that has no wheel well access- passenger side all done under the hood
    1. Remove the 4 plastic pins that hold the inner trim along the fender/hood from front to back by popping the center up of the expansion pins with a flat blade, then pry the base of the pins out. There are three in front near headlamp and one at the rear end by firewall.
    2. Unhook the rear hood rubber gasket strip by pulling it and unhooking it from the tab on the trim back end. Now lift the side fender top trim and pull out from back (it has a built in hinge point) , releasing the two metal clips along the fender top and then back it out of the front inset plastic tab over the radiator. The trim side is now free and can be set aside.
    3. Remove the two screws holding the small cross side "T" bracket and the one smaller screw that fastens the headlight top back to that same small cross "T" piece. Lift that cross piece out so the metal formed insert tab on it comes out.
    4. You now should have just enough hand access to reach down behind the headlamp to twist off the circular cap seals, and then access to the bulbs inside them. The rest of the replacement is the same as if you had a removable fender access to the bulb back circular caps.

    Great video, replaced both assemblies in 90 minutes on a 2013 Terrain Denali and your instructions were perfect. Only suggestion is that the corner clip at the edge of plastic bumper is located at the corner so a pry bar used at the edge is effective in popping off the plastic bumper.

    This does not work for the 2015 Terrain, GMC, in their amazing wisdom, eliminated the round, removable cover in the wheel well and now you have to take the entire wheel well cover off to get to the bulbs. Edit: well, not quite remove it, but you have to turn the wheel in toward the body and remove 3 torx screws and a pop rivet and then force the wheel well cover back far enough that you can get at least one hand in to remove the cap and then remove the bulb. You have to wear some kind of glove when installing the new bulb because you don't want to get skin oil on a halogen bulb, otherwise the heat will be drawn to the skin oil and melt the glass and ruin the bulb. I could only get one hand in, but I was able to change the bulb with just one hand.

  • @crzycop

    I have a 2015 and the access panel you show in the wheel well area does not exist
    You will have to remove three of the clips 2 T15 screws
    Lastly two 7 mm bolts underneath the front spoiler Where the wheel well connects to it
    You can then gently pry back be wheel well to access the door panel to the headlight bulbs
    When removing the screws from the wheel well keep the wheels turned inward then When you are prying back the wheel well slightly to gain access to the headlight assembly you will want the wheel turned out

      The later models do not have the access port in the wheel well. You need to remove the headlight assembly as the video shows for “replacing” the entire assembly. Once you have it pulled out, you just replace the bulbs and reinstall it. Way too much effort for routine maintenance; gross oversight by GM or a new way to force many people into the shop for what should be a simple DIY fix.

    • @dirxwirx
      @dirxwirx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the one they show in the video is the easier method. The model you have requires you to go from the top under the hood. It's extra hassle and time unfortunately.
