    Really nice tutorial. I’m brushing up on my knowledge and hoping to expand a little on it too. Found this really great.
    Only thing I would add is the attention to the final levels. Recommend is that true peak is at -1 and that that you pay attention to a LUF meter that it comes in around -14.
    These are to comply with streaming services.

    I really want to follow this but I cannot figure out how you are creating this track called 'MASTER' at the bottom of your other instrument tracks. I realize that there is a "Master" on the mixer but are the two connected to each other, or do we just create an audio track and call it MASTER? It would be very helpful to know this.

      Theres logic versions of basically everything he showed, try using the directional mixer for imaging. loudness meter and graphic eq as well. if youre just using logic plugins, id recommend bouncing your mix and just working with one track rather than mixing in the same session.

    Thanks again for a video that gave me many answers on what mastering really stood for when I thought a good mix would be the last hurdle. Just a final question, when you’re all done and ready to bounce the track, does soloing or not the master track make a difference? If the whole of the final mix is going through the master track? Just wondering…. Thanks in advance! Your videos are great, professional and so helpful!

    • @CharlesCleyn

      Hey Freddy, thanks a lot. To answer your question, no you don’t need to solo your master track in the final bounce.

    I'm trying to take single track analogue recordings from the 90's, feed them into Logic Pro X and improve the sound quality. Do you know what that process is called? I can't find anything about this subject online. The only thing the internet talks about is how to make new digital recordings sound more Analogue. I'm trying to do the exact opposite. Any advice? Do you have any tutorials on that subject? Anything? Thanks

    Thank you for this video. Can I just ask, I noticed you had your mix finished, then you did the mastering in the same session/project. I have seen other videos where they bounce the mix to a stereo track, and then open up a new project to do the mastering on that stereo track. Which is the better way? Are there advantages or disadvantages to having that first bounced track?

    • @CharlesCleyn
      @CharlesCleyn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi David, there’s no difference in either way but I think it helps mentally to bounce it out and master 1 track. Then you definitely know your mix is done. Sometimes when you master in the same session you go back and forth in the mix. Also some people just like to have a clean session for the headspace and Im do even run the track through more outboard gear. It really doesn’t matter. I’d say do whatever gets you a better result which is the most important!

Here is my question. Why don't you print out your mix and use it on a new project for mastering the song?
