Leo will have to repaint that output transformer BLACK, man BUZZ the engineers from Templetone are turning over in there graves with that RED output transformer.....LOL You did a BEAUTIFUL job on the radio cabinet!. That is very kind of you to give that to Leo. BTW....I made a very short video of the old TEMPLETONE Radio Corporation building wich I will upload today, it did not come out as good as I wanted as you will see.. It popped into my head, in 1957, my mother escaping something loaded up the 52 two tone Buick Super with Dynaflow. We were on our way to Cali from NY, US 30. and US 6 past Chicago. Two lane. We got out "West" they were just building 80 and we'd hit detours and traffic jams as they blasted. But there were signs "Turn off Radios, Blasting" We turned off the big chrome radio in the Buick. I was about seven. I sat on my grandmothers lap the whole way and if we had hit something both of us would have launched with me first. We didn't though. I remember we almost got run down in Reno crossing the street. We made it to SF the foggy city. We came back six months later. Same route. My grandmother smoked the whole way. Talk about second hand smoke. Not to mention Burma Shave. Always a great restore.

Yeah, I always saw the old radios in movies when I was a kid, and thinking how cool they looked...never thought I would be restoring them on TH-cam though.

Buzz it looks and sounds really nice. I was amazed at how well that label on the bottom clleaned up. I was sure the stripper was going to remove all of the writing, and I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't. Happy Holidays Buzz.

That Temple radio turned out to be a real nice radio!! Interesting to find out it was made in New London Connecticut! I think New London was home to the Electric Boat co makers of submarines but I may be wrong on that! Anyway, that area of Connecticut including Bridgeport and other locals was highly industrialized during WW2 my mother and her twin sister worked for G.E. at the Kossuth Street plant in Bridgeport and had friends that lived in New London. The G.E. plant was vacated many years ago and was recently torn down to make way for a new school building!!! Buzz I am wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Hi Buzz, I can't help but feel your restoration of this Temple radio is a tribute to those very ladies pictured on the assembly line 75 years ago making it. What a great connection! Loved the horse video, proof horses have horse sense. My cats do the very same thing when I open the door and there is a snow drift before them, except they seem to take longer to ponder the situation and then finally give up on their vagabond ways and return to the warmth and safety of the abode. The movie featurette reminded me of Hitchcock's "Psycho:" back in 1959 when the shower scene turned unexpectedly into a horror scene. Ho, Ho, Ho, I confess "Bad Santa" is one of my favorite Christmas movies, right up there with "Miracle On 34th. St." Thank you for all the wonderful video gifts you have blessed us with over the years. May you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I guess Dickel deserves that 100 bucks for the internet research and Christmas present. So you found the cabinet label saying it was an E-514 (even though the dial face glass is from a G-515, ssh our secret). Someone must have tried cleaning the original one only to find it washed off! Great cabinet work , interior repaint from that ugly white, and original label save Buzz! I wish you , Dickel and fam a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Steve

One of my Aunt's had a that Temple Console Radio & Turntable cabinet combo back in the 50's I saw that photo Dickel found and memories came flooding in. Another great rework, I think its a looker myself. Also the gold grill cloth really works much better that cathedral radio too. 👍 Thanks BUZZ, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to your family too.

Fast work BUZZ GETTING THAT OLD TEMPLE RADIO TO WORK. Looks great. Well I have only been home a week from the hospital where I was in icu for about a week had a sepsis blood infection and Atrial Fibrillation. All because my immune system is compromised by Leukemia so I will be having Chemo in about 10 days that will continue 4 to 6 months

Another Great Video Buzz!! Even before you mentioned doing it, I wondered if you were going to try to save that label on the underside. I'm glad that you tried, and am DOUBLE GLAD that it worked, and that you succeeded as you did!! 🙂 Thanks for all the great videos this year Buzz!! Can't wait to see your 1st one, of the new year!! 😊 2022 has ended on a bit of a "rough note" for me: I was already suffering the effects of worsening Osteo Arthritis, in my Right Knee, Right Hip, & Lower Back; then due partly to the effects of that, the following happened: On October 9th, I took a bad fall, and broke my Right Ankle in 3 places, 2 breaks on my Fibula, & 1 break on my Tibia!! I've already been trying to get S.S.A. Disability due to the Arthritis affecting my mobility quite a lot, now, one of the Dr's. who attended me at the hospital during my 3 hour ankle surgery; says that he don't see me ever working again, as badly as I broke that ankle! If only Santa Claus was "really real" I think I'd ask him for at least 2 things: 1). To make a way that I could get hold of one of those ol' Tube Radios, to "tinker with" & try my hand at repairing and/or restoring it!! 2). To help me complete the goal, in the "Go Fund Me" Page, which I posted awhile back! One VERY KIND GENTLEMEN, donated generously to my family & I, but no one else has donated so far, & I still have $500 to go, to fulfill my goal! I hesitate to post the name of my "Go Fund Me" page here, as I dunno if that would really be proper. Buzz" Great restoration. I was surprised when you booed yourself after the restoration. Not sure what you felt was bad with your effort. The only thing that concerned me was the new venier not matching up but you got it to look right. I would have thought you would have affixed a label to the back cover as it was surprisingly stark. I worked on a tube car radio that used slug tuning like this radio. It also had six more slugs for the presets. I've also seen this is a communications receiver once. I do not remember the brand of the radios.
Love it, Buzz. What transmitter do you use ? Sounds pretty good. .......... My favorite local AM is going away. They will continue with 3 FM transmitters. But, I actually like the overall performance of their AM. Warmer sound.

One of my Aunt's had a that Temple Console Radio & Turntable cabinet combo back in the 50's I saw that photo Dickel found and memories came flooding in. Another great rework, I think its a looker myself. Also the gold grill cloth really works much better that cathedral radio too. 👍 Thanks BUZZ, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to your family too.

Fast work BUZZ GETTING THAT OLD TEMPLE RADIO TO WORK. Looks great. Well I have only been home a week from the hospital where I was in icu for about a week had a sepsis blood infection and Atrial Fibrillation. All because my immune system is compromised by Leukemia so I will be having Chemo in about 10 days that will continue 4 to 6 months

2022 has ended on a bit of a "rough note" for me: I was already suffering the effects of worsening Osteo Arthritis, in my Right Knee, Right Hip, & Lower Back; then due partly to the effects of that, the following happened:
On October 9th, I took a bad fall, and broke my Right Ankle in 3 places,
2 breaks on my Fibula, & 1 break on my Tibia!!
I've already been trying to get S.S.A. Disability due to the Arthritis affecting my mobility quite a lot, now, one of the Dr's. who attended me at the hospital during my 3 hour ankle surgery; says that he don't see me ever working again, as badly as I broke that ankle!
If only Santa Claus was "really real" I think I'd ask him for at least 2 things:
1). To make a way that I could get hold of one of those ol' Tube Radios, to "tinker with" & try my hand at repairing and/or restoring it!!
2). To help me complete the goal, in the "Go Fund Me" Page, which I posted awhile back!
One VERY KIND GENTLEMEN, donated generously to my family & I, but no one else has donated so far, & I still have $500 to go, to fulfill my goal!
I hesitate to post the name of my "Go Fund Me" page here, as I dunno if that would really be proper.

My Ankle seems to be healing & mending pretty well, although I must admit, that here lately, especially yesterday; (Saturday), I have been lacking help to get things done, and have on my feet, WAY MORE than I should be!!!
Yesterday, (for the 1st time since my accident), I was having to lift things, which I prob'ly SHOULDN'T have been trying to do!!!
Luckily, that didn't seem to affect my bad Ankle very much, but my Arthritic Knee & Hip, got to throbbing & aching pretty badly!!

Buzz" Great restoration. I was surprised when you booed yourself after the restoration. Not sure what you felt was bad with your effort. The only thing that concerned me was the new venier not matching up but you got it to look right. I would have thought you would have affixed a label to the back cover as it was surprisingly stark. Maybe a lable of the Temple logo with your label of restoration and date. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to your next project.

I worked on a tube car radio that used slug tuning like this radio. It also had six more slugs for the presets. I've also seen this is a communications receiver once. I do not remember the brand of the radios.

Love it, Buzz. What transmitter do you use ? Sounds pretty good. .......... My favorite local AM is going away. They will continue with 3 FM transmitters. But, I actually like the overall performance of their AM. Warmer sound.
