    As British fan I've been following his gradual learning process in the 400m and I think he still has a lot of potential to improve his stamina and get faster. Thank you for spotting him and featuring him in today's video 👍

      Charles also attended St. Benedicts School, Colchester. So up to this point, I was the only red head, from St. Benedicts and Colchester harriers, but ran cross country instead. Great to see Charles doing great. In regards to Quincy Hall he went to my Junior college alma mater, College of Sequoias, California

    Charlie Dobson is actually who every hardcore stan of a certain fellow recent 400m convert thinks he is as he capped off a very good debut 400m season with the DL Final win along with his Euro Champs Silver, 10 fastest times between 44.2 - 44.9 & added to his multiple 43s splits to help GB win OLY 4x4 Bronze! More short sprinters out there need to make the move up like he did!

      Right. The sprints have way too much talent, he wouldn’t have factored in the 200m or the 100m. That said, he won when all elites were exhausted and already peaked. Let’s see his times next season.

    In an interview after the event Charlie mentioned something that Rob picked up inadvertently. He said the main reason for moving up in distance was that he kept getting and aggravating niggling injuries in the sharper events. He is now largely injury free and therefore getting stronger from concentrating on 400m training.

    Do you think Track would be more successful if they adopted a "chess tournament" type structure.
    This would encourage regular people to compete at track events in different divisions. Then there is the open section, which would be for the top athletes.

    • @SlowSonicBoom
      @SlowSonicBoom หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There are so many reason why "no" is the right answer.
      There is not enough time and room for infrastructure to let everyone run, jump, throw, ...
      A WC is more than a week non-stop, with only the very best competing, it might give an idea.
      You have amateur, national competitions, where the better ones get selected.
      It probably just will look painfull to watch someone sprint 25 seconds on a 100m dash.
      Chess doesn't have that problem, a big room with multiple tables.
      Also nice that it is possible there, but it won't work with Track&Field.

    Matthew Boling of the United States is considered a "journeyman" sprinter, but has faster PR's for both the 100 meters and the 200 meters than Charlie Dobson does. Boling is also not far behind him in the 400 meters. I guess your level of recognition also is determined by what country you compete for.

    This is why you don't brag about your favorite Track and Field athlete and disrespect other athletes. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (women's 400mH speclaist) fans are particularly obnoxious about this disrespecting Femke Bol on uploaded TH-cam posts about Bol's dominance in World and European Championships, women's 400mH. On the men's side in 400mH we have Karsten Warholm (WR holder "Mr sub-46") and Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos, who all have a chance to win in any given meet. People want to put Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone up on a pedestal and make her appear as if she can never be beaten. That puts a lot of pressure on Sydney, which is a shame. Real fans would not place that kind of pressure on Sydney to perform without ever failing. Why her fans are so jealous of Femke Bol's talent is a mystery? If Sydney is not in the race, her fans will post comments that if Syndey was there in the race that Bol would have been demolished. Sydney's fans can never appreciate the accomplishments of Femke Bol. Femke Bol owns 9 of the TOP 20 times in history in 400mh which is the same number that Sydney owns. Glad to see Charlie Dobson get the win here. Congratulations! I hope fans of other athletes will be good sports and acknowledge Dobson's accomplishment/win here and not say he would have lost badly if another athlete they are fans of was racing in this same race.
