You owe just a memory. It is honestly surprising to me as polish living in uk for so long that majority of people don’t know anything about Squadron 303 and other important events from ww2 where Poland was involved like cracking enigma code, Warsaw uprising or how much Poland sacrificed and lost in the past for greater good, that our country was „reset” and it took years to recover from both invaders and catch up with others on many grounds. Poland was a battlefield. And if anyone is interested they can look online for numbers showing the difference and also how polish people were treated afterwards ( not saying people in general but there were some important incidents caused by individuals). And i am not saying this to take any credit as i was not there nor other poles living now and also not saying we are the only one who fought, but i am just annoyed sometimes when we polish people not only in UK but in other countries too are pictured as drunk uneducated kurwa swearing people just because they have seen some individuals. Other countries also have people like that and it doesn’t mean everyone is the same.

Sadly, Churchill had little option when the War ended. Whilst we still had an effective Army, Navy and Airforce, the UK was on it's knees in all other respects and at Yalta was outmaneuvered by Roosevelt as well as Stalin.
However I do agree that denying the Poles their rightful place in the Victory Parade was a shameful act of appeasement to Stalin.

Not only the Battle of Britain, The Poles fought gallantly all over Europe. Market Garden and Battle of Monte Cassino to name a couple battles. Polish soldiers who fought at Monte Cassino were no ordinary conscripts, drafted and sent to Italy. Most had been forcibly removed from their homes by the Russians, sent to Siberia to labour camps, endured near starvation and escaped on foot to Iran to join the Free Polish Forces as part of the Allied effort.
Italy: On May 18 at noon, a victorious white-and-red flag was hoisted on the Monte Cassino hill. The assault cost the lives of 923 Polish soldiers, 2931 were wounded, and 345 were never found. The Battle of Monte Cassino was a testimony to Polish bravery and sacrifice. The Battle of Monte Cassino was one of the hardest fought battles of the war costing the allies more than twice the casualties of the axis powers. The sad part is that driving the Germans from Italy is hardly mentioned when speaking of the war

Another one bashing the brits, The Polish pilots have a place in our hearts and we are all proud that they flew with the RAF. Ask any brit who knows the story and they will tell you that.
Also they didnt all get treated badly at all. As the video even said, a lot of them choose to stay in britain and become flight instructors and stay with the RAF. They were honered by the Brits. When the soviets took control of Poland after the war, what did you expect Britain to do, Invade Russia. There was nothing we could do. We were a country that had lost its empire and were broke. So not being able to do anything is not the same choosing not to do anything.
Britain went to war in the first place because Germany invaded Poland. Also the brits was the ones that gave the poles the oppertunity to fight in the war. Yes Britain got great warriors out of it but they also gave the polish the chance to fight as well, it was win, win all round in that respect.
Brits love the poles and we have memorials in our country that we pay tribute to for their bravery and sacrifice. Also a lot of forces personel who left the service after the war from all over the world including Brits started working in civilian jobs which were working class and had working clas roles including my grandfather. Their is nothing wrong with being working class and earning a living. We have a lot of polish working class people today in the uk who are builders and tradesman, its a good decent and honest living. Lets reverse the situation. Do you think that Poles would go and fight for liberation of some country on the other side of the world? Why they should do that?
In the same sense, why do you think Americans or Brits should fight for liberation of Poland from the Soviets after the war? How would general command rationalize this to the people of USA, or British command rationalize this suicidal role? Going after Russia was impossible in that time. You need to have the laverage to force someone to do something, and the Russian army was massive. The war was over. There was no more killing. There was occupation, thats right. And that was a shame. But I dont think you can expect some other people on the other side of the world to fight for your freedom, as you would not expect Poles to go and fight for Indians in the USA, or for some African or South American country.

Sosabowski who was one of the pioneers of paratroop forces in Europe and a lot of his experience was used to train your paratroopers ended up as warehouse worker moving boxes from one place to another. Maczek had to become a barman. Cryptologists, intelligence officers who worked for the British throughout the war (and were responsible for supplying British with intelligence on the Germans, btw 3/4 of all intelligence reports from the continent came from Polish source) were given training for equally crappy jobs in the Polish resettlement corps. The Poles were not reckless but ruthless. They were well trained in Poland, battle experienced from two air campaigns which was a Darwinian process and psychologically determined to fight the enemy: Revenge or rather retribution? The Poles fought in hunting pairs instead of trios which was the RAF practice. That meant that a RAF squadron of 12 pilots would have 4 attackers with 8 wingman whereas the Poles would have 6 attackers and 6 wingman. A more efficient use of resources.

The French not only didn't want the Poles to fly in May/June 1940. They didn't let their own countrymen fly too! France had twice as much planes as Germany and after the capitulation, Wehrmacht found around 2000 French planes still intact in their bases, never even taken out to the airfield. Same with tanks, Navy and artillery. They simply gave up in the very begginign in their majority (with glorious exceptions) with the government refusing to continue the fight from the Colonies and signing a separatist peace act. How come they were regarded as a "power" in 1945. Pathetic.

Well, if you read history you'll get the idea why Poland was so quickly overrun in Blitzkrieg. It's because until 1918 there was no Poland and this year marked it's return to the map, so all in all the interim period of 20 years before the two wars was a relatively short one. Poland was just starting to develop when it got hit again and Hitler needed a quick victory which is always attainable when you attack the weaker opponent first. However, there were certain opportunities for the Polish army to take an advantage of and take the fight to Germans but due to a series of really bad decisions made by the government and military figure heads it was what it was...

@@creepPOL I'm not calling them 'petty liars', so don't put words into my mouth. That is disingenuous of you. If you know about the Battle of Britain, then you would know that overclaiming occurred on both sides. From the ridiculous claims for Stukas on 16th and 18th August 1940 by Fighter Command squadrons, to the claims of having shot down 51 RAF aircraft in a single day by the Luftwaffe unit Zerstörergeschwader 26. All units overclaimed - that's fact of life in aerial combats such as took place in the summer of 1940 when large formations of defending fighters took on large formations of attacking Luftwaffe bombers and fighters. With over 40 years of research and writing about that period, I would suggest I know more about the Battle of Britain than you will ever know, so I suggest you get hold of modern works on the subject and improve your knowledge considerably. Try 'The Battle of Britain Combat Archive' by Simon Parry, published by Red Kite Publications, for starters, a series that I am a main contributor to. Get Stephen Bungay's 'The most dangerous enemy' also, which is an excellent work on the Battle. Then come back when you know what you are talking about, OK? The nerve of some people...

The Polish ground crews re-aligned the wing-mounted guns so their fire converged at much closer range than with the standard British setup. The small .30 cal ball rounds were much more effective at the close range used by the Poles compared to the longer range initially used by the Brits.

It’s my firm believe that had Adolf Hitler taken you Polish Fighter Pilots in his stride and formed the Luftwaffe am very confident RAF would not have stood a chance of Victory and would have fallen to its knee's within three to four day's or maximum in a week's time.
Very sad indeed but just as expected Britain showed its true colours for not acknowledging the role that you or the soldiers belonging from other parts of this world particularly from India, Africa, and Middle East played in all the three wings of its armed forces during World War 2.

Typically imperial war museum tosh, the surviving rump of the Polish air force all put into mainly 2 squadrons, with thousands of flying hours experience, Raf pilots at the time were relative new straight from flying school with 150 hours and even less. The raf had lost about 500 fighter pilots in the war up to the b of b, having been in the war far longer and having seen far more combat.
In France only 10% of polish pilots saw any action, that's having flown at least one sortie.
When your national air force no longer exists you need to be looking for a job, else push a brush.
Polish kills claims for 303 squadron were over 200 originally, then reduced to 141, then confirmed by polish historians to be around 58.8 or 55-60, 58.8 is usually taken as the figure.
Of these 17 were by the Czech frantisek (17 claimed when the total claims were 200+) and 3 by brit/ethnic brits (can) so giving 38.8 by poles in 303.
With 14 kills by poles in 302 and let's gift them 5.2 by poles mixed in with other squadrons to give a tidy 58 kills by poles in the b of b out of 1883 luftwaffe losses and 10 Italian losses.
Frantisek was not the top score with 17 kills, mostly slow undefended light bombers, Eric lock was with 20.5, 17 of which were bf109s.
Frantisek was aged 26 with 6 years of flying experience (flying hurricanes) and lock was 21 in his first year of flying (flying spitfires).
