    Thank you for these videos. Can't hear the third man who seems to forget to turn on his mike. Also, extraneous noise from rattling papers or something. Info is so helpful and I don't want to miss any of it. Thank you, again.

      Thanks for watching Cindi. We're working on the audio problems. The paper rattling sound is actually the fabric of Josh's shirt, which has a crunching sound to the mic which rests against it.

    Gentlemen, Fantastic show. Would you please include a floor plan per model and then show pictures? I find myself flitting between your website and and your show so that I can get a feel for the layout and the interior. Also, how do your logs stack up to the environment of a place like Park City, Utah? What are the R factors of the different types of cuts and logs? Thank you and God Bless.

      We've put this topic on our show calendar. In fact, it may be done this week (first week of November 2020) if we can pull together some video and get it edited in time to present this Thursday.

    I went to Israel 9 years ago with my divorce settlement. Was amazed at their use of space, three stories with a lot of deck area on the roof. Thought it was genius! Spiral staircase for entrance! Was beautiful! Be made Blissful everyone!

      Multi-story log homes are possible, but when it comes to log homes, the plans need to be created specifically for wood structures. The objective is low maintenance costs over the life of the home - which can easily exceed 100 years. If you look at our Mountain Inspiration series, you will see many 3-story designs, typically a main floor, an upper floor, and a terrace level (walk out basement). In Satterwhite designs, you will also see wrap around porches, which minimizes exposure to solar radiation, minimizing maintenance, and also keeps scaffolding to a minimum for what little routine maintenance is required by well protected wood walls.

    I would like to see a house/plan that could be built in sections. For example a plan that has a Great room and a Master bedroom that can be finished first, to use as a cabin/vacation home. Then later when I live there full time be able to add on another bedroom or two. This most likely would be a ranch style floor plan, Thanks

    I am not a fan of lofts. Can a loft be turned into a walled room without adding a huge amount of cost?

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We routinely customize plans. Many of our lofted designs are worked into other spaces besides bedrooms -- frequently home office space, sewing rooms, book shelves, etc. This is a low cost modification, and may even reduce costs if bathrooms are deleted since plumbing areas are relatively expensive square footage.

    What do you think about a heated concrete floor? How much do you have to treat the homes in the South (I’m in Alabama)? How much is a 3 bedroom plan?

    I LOVE your homes!! I also like your love for you faith, god, flag and country!! God bless you all! As soon as my investments pan out (and they WILL, hopefully in the next month or two) i will be i contact! What state are you located?

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are headquartered in Texas with offices in Utah (west) and Georgia (East). In the past, we have had offices in Colorado. Our western offices are generally located near our sources of timber in the Rocky Mountains. We also have portable sawmills and operations in other areas, currently in Chama, New Mexico, though there is no sales office at that sawmill location. Satterwhite sells manufacturer direct. Avoiding dealerships means we don't have dozens of locations, but we feel this is the best strategy to keep prices low as possible and to deliver maximum value for your dollar. For decades, we operated solely from our headquarters in Longview, Texas, but we feel there is value to having an Eastern and Western Divisions because this does give us considerable exposure and experience with regional differences, such as regional building codes and engineering requirements across the nation for things like seismic performance and snow loading requirements of high altitude areas, plus different climate considerations. Satterwhite homes have been built in virtually every state plus all around the world. Our building system is time tested, highly refined, and proven thousands of times over.

    Appreciate seeing the smaller places. We hope to come up soon to pick out a plan. Do we need an appointment for one of your designers?

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is best to call ahead if you are ready to meet with a designer. But, in general, appointments are not required - we're here normal business hours. Our offices in Ellijay, Georgia and Gunnison, Utah have fewer people, so you might want to check ahead to make sure your planned visit does not fall on a day when our people are away at trade shows or taking vacation or personal time off.

    Can someone tell me what the star is about, i seem to see them in log homes and if it's not hanging on the wall, it's in the floor design. The log homes are awesome.

    • @stevenkaskus6173
      @stevenkaskus6173 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The star usually hanging on a wall or outside on side of structure of design in floor or even in glass on entry doors is a symbol of Texas usually Texans put them up is the statement that Texas stands alone from the days of the Alamo and they got no help from the state's at the time so it's a symbol of Texas stood alone now a proud statement among Texans. The star on the log home in the video is in Virginia and the audio statement was that the people weren't from Texas but like the star. Hope this cleared that up for you. P.S. some manufactured/modular homes built in Texas have the 5 pointed star in the glass front on their entry doors .😜

      Curiously, entrance doors with cut glass stars are very popular south of the Red River, but not as much so in Oklahoma.

    Why don't you have any plans for a vertical stockade style log home?

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We definitely do custom designs, but vertical log placement might not be advisable. All our logs feature a "drip cap" - in other words, the bottom edge of the milled log overhangs the top of the curve on the log below, and the bottom of each log's curve is a sharp angle purposely designed to overcome the surface tension of water so that drops form and the water is shed away from log joints. The worst thing you can have with a log home is joints exposed to pulling water into the joints. This would make rot unavoidable and expensive to repair.

    The hemlock you commented on the chimney covered in wood on the out side but never showed the actual fireplace inside just the couch😨

    • @dannypgrizzle
      @dannypgrizzle 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about the lack of an interior picture of the fireplace. I did the photoshoot, and the interior was great overall, but not everything was perfect. I didn’t shoot the corner of the living room with the fireplace and TV because they were still unpacking new electronic gear, so there was boxes and styrofoam, and also temporary shelves from cinder blocks and boards - no pictures because it was a flashback to college dorm days.

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just to be clear, the interior side of the fireplace is finished conventionally, any way you like. Sheathing the outside chimney in cedar is attractive, but far more economical than stone masonry.

    • @SatterwhiteLogHomes
      @SatterwhiteLogHomes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Prices will be returning soon to the Satterwhite website. The big issue the past 2 years or so has been market volatility. There are thousands of components in a home, so keeping pricing current on the website was all but impossible.

      Prices will be returning to our website in the near future. Subscribe to our TH-cam channel to be notified. We apologize for the delay, but market volatility had made costs go crazy the past few months to the point that the pricing on the website was impossible to maintain.
