In our custom built home our living, dining and kitchen are all vaulted ceilings, whereas the rest of the house have 8’ ceilings. We like it this way because it’s cheaper to heat and cool areas with 8’ ceilings. Our retirement home will be a 2 bedroom 2 bath house with a small office space and a single story, as it’s harder to get up the stairs when you’re older. But for now our 3 bedroom 3 bath , 2 kitchen house is just the right size for us. The 3rd bedroom, bathroom and kitchen is an attached apartment that my dad currently lives in with its own private entrance. After he passes away, we’ll rent out the apartment for extra income for us.
Really nice to see actual homes with so much detail. Just a couple questions, the first Custom House, what was the manufacturer of the double entry door. Is it a wood door or fiberglass? Thank you.
Good show made me think a lot more of what I would like inside. Really like that copper gutters. Have y'all done a show on basements in the Louisiana area?
I prefer ceiling fans with light kits in all rooms. Especially in the living room a drop down nice size ceiling fan. An outdoor kitchen with a fireplace or firepit.fireplace. Ceiling fans on the outdoor deck.
One Misty River slide showed a bay window. Could you include in a Thursday show your recommendation for doing bay windows? Zig zag the foundation or keep it straight? Cantilever logs or use log siding? Or some other technique? Love your show. Glad to find a company that uses standing dead trees.
I love wood to be the true look of wood and not painted, especially black. That is ugly looking counter tops, and an ugly tile in the shower. I'm not liking the deck railing either. I like traditional old-fashioned look. I watched several videos on the upkeep of log homes on the outside, is there extensive upkeep with the logs on Satterwhite homes? How long are they warranted for?
Just gotta love the business model of hey here’s a whole bunch of barriers, boundaries, rules, and regulations.. plus this that and those elements of the build that are your responsibility to plan, purchase, and coordinate. All the while Satterwhite can’t be bothered to even pick up the phone during business hours to coordinate anything anyways. What a joke.
