    Swannanoa was a beautiful area. I lived in Black Mountain and worked in Swannanoa back in the mid 80's. I loved going to Lake Tomahawk there in Black Mountain a beautiful peaceful place. I pray for everyone there.

    My grandparents owned a home in Swannanoa and I would spend my summers there from the 80's until 2000 when my grandma moved. I have the fondest memories. Going to the Swannanoa library, church, swimming at Warren Wilson and Montreat. I even went to sleep away camp at The Cove for a few summers. 10 years ago in 2014 my husband and I did a road trip and visited and I got to show him what I experienced growing up. So very sad that this has happened. There are no words to truly convey how devastating this is.

    A lady was on radio this morning needing help there. Broke my heart to hear what she was saying. She said, dead bodies all along the river since Friday. Some people barely hanging on. Please please help them as soon as possible. Rutherford county NC hit hard also. The devastation helene left is horrible. Prayers and help needed all across western NC. We don't have power are water were I am but we are ok.

    Up in the mountain right above Swannanoa and Beetree church is an old 1980's EPA Superfund site that was Chemtronics, a Haliburton chemical warfare factory from the Vietnam era. There are huge pits of liquid chemical waste capped off up there.

    If you need water your pipes in your home may have water as well as your hot water tank. Go in your basement or to the lowest faucet in your home. Get a container. Your hot water tank also has water in it. There is a bottom drain valve you can acess water from. Rain water can also be caught with scarfs.

    It will take the Experts some time to add all the damage up and compare that to other Historic Floods. I am sure that this Hurricane and the wide spread damage across several states will go down as one of the worst in US History. It will take years to rebuild all the roads, bridges not even counting the thousands of Homes and all the other structures that make up a Town or City that got destroyed. There are not enough Contractors to even begin to help people rebuild. The process of an Insurance Claim and the long road to re- build will tie people up for several years. There are hardly words to describe the totality of this destruction.

    • @Suzanne-f4x
      @Suzanne-f4x หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As for the bridges, the military can place the highly moveable bridges that it uses in warfare. That will be highly useful. What's harder is finding a way to shore up mountains that are sliding down hill ON bridges.
