Just ordered these and the monarchs from Amazon. I really appreciate the honest review. Black Widow seems like a fun brand. Maybe I'm just tired of always getting the same colors in every colored pencil set I buy. Wish I discovered this brand sooner, still excited to use them
I love this set. I have all bw sets and the colors are beautiful. Maybe greens for green dragons🤷🏼♀️ and they’re usually shown in forest in coloring books. I don’t mind it because I grab color from the other sets too. Thank you Lisa for this great review.

I saw the Dragon In Black Widow coloured pencils on Amazon at the price 56$ can for 48 pencils instead of 24 or 12 like the skin tones tins cases and it seems to me we can find the same colors in the Cobra or the Black window tins case! Does it make more sens to you now? I am from Canada in Quebec province and I had subscribed to your TH-cam’s lately! I love your style of colouring and the theme subjects too and I will ordered the Monarch and the Dragon together pretty soon! TKY for your generosity and sharing your talent! 😊

I ended up buying a 300 slots pencil case on Ebay for around 40 dollars, to fit all of them, and have space for the future in case he does keep selling more. 😁

Yes ..I got my dragon set when it first came out. I love them alongside the other sets. Like you I feel the set is lacking blue colours. Maybe we get those in the next set.. I received mine with free shipping with Amazon Prime. I am in UK.
Amazing Intro!!! I live in Canada and purchased them from Amazon USA, they ended up costing $34CAD with shipping. Considering that the Monarch set is listed at $36CAD on Amazon Canada, I feel satisfied with my decision! They are wonderful pencils, true to the Black Widow brand, and make a great addition to the existing sets! For me personally, they are worth the extra cost of international shipping.
I bought 2 sets of the dragon cuz I have 2 sets of all the others. I live in states and have prime so paid no shipping. Right now I'm into geometric shapes so have tried them out a little bit. I agree too many greens but love the colors, the names, the case. If he adds more pencils I will need a 2nd case lol. Thanks for the video

I live in the UK and got my from Amazon. They were £18 and free postage as I'm a Prime member. Oddly though, I've been searching for them over the past couple of weeks on Amazon, and 'black widow dragon' did not yield any results. I found them purely by accident when looking for something else. Gorgeous colours as usual, but I do use them in conjunction with the other sets.
Currently not available for me. I´m in Germany. When I looked up the brand without your link, the set didn´t even show up. All the other sets are there, but the dragon seems take a while, to appear on the German Amazon. But I desperately want it!!! XD
Going with what you said about too many greens, I had also noticed the scorpions had WAY too many greens for the size of the set and I remembered the monarch having lots as well... So I went looking at the whole line of Black Widow pencils, I count about 29 greens and 14 blues... that means from the 180 pencil set, we have about 1 in 6 pencils that are green and half as many blue.
And even with the 3 new reds, we still only have 7... and maybe a dozen that I would consider yellow. So very few primary colors overall... maybe the next set we need is a set focused on primary colors.
Absolutely adore the dragon set. Like you I’d have liked more blues, but I love all the greens. I personally feel there are too many pinks across the sets, but then I hardly ever use pink in general. I’m in the uk so these amazing pencils are easy to get via Amazon.
I'm having some trouble with a few of my dragon pencils. It's like the leads didn't get mixed correctly. It's plasticy feeling and I'm going to try different paper to see if it's the paper that's causing the problem.
Interesting. I have not heard that from anyone yet. Might be worth it to bring it up to Albert. I definitely don't have that issue with any one of my sets. All pencils are the same quality for me.
Yep...agree. oranges and yellow were needed to fill a void in the other sets (oddly enough) but way to many greens. There are blues in the other releases... so it's ok. But yes, those odd colors: bruise, blue tongue, Sabre, dungeon, dark knight....wow! And yes, cardboard is very cool and not metallic (yay)
IMO, after the original 3 sets of BW, I accepted the skin tone sets, Monarch and Dragon sets as additions/enhancements to the original sets. In addition, with 180 colors now, is there really going to be a need for more??????? Btw, am in USA, and have PRIME for free shipping
I did buy them, they are still held up in my PO Box in the US 😒. I love my skin tone sets, and I do want all the sets! I will get the Monarch set, but I can’t justify more pencils sets, except for the Luminance, I already have the portrait set, but I need the 76 set, and now I’m actually now having 2nd thoughts, maybe I should invest in Polychromos. I really appreciate your perspective, and why we NEED certain colors and others are just preferential. In Mexico these are not available and the sets available cost the same as the 150 set of Prismacolor premiere, so not much of a dilemma there, right? I wish they were sold open stock!
i am interested to know if you found the formula different from the other sets. I think they contain more oil. the set I got was somewhat harder than the other sets. I have all the sets. I still like them but they do feel different. Like you, I find that there are too many greens. The majority of the greens in Black Widow are too bright and unnatural. Love the Scorpion greens though.
I actually thought the Monarch was the odd one out. Monarchs feel somehow more buttery to me. I didn't feel that the Dragon is harder .... until I tried it on regular white paper. Then it did feel a bot hard. I tend to color on soft, toned paper.
I got the skin tone sets first. Then I got the Cobra set. I was so happy I bought the other two. When the Monarch set came out I ordered them as well. I have not been disappointed, I will purchase the Dragon set if I don' receive it for Christmas. Than you for sharing your opinion. It was very informative.

So I think I could get away with this set to create the effects I'm looking for. She mentioned greys & gun metals. Plus I have a small Prisma color pencils set
Lightfast has nothing to do with specific colors. It’s a fade-resistant property of the whole brand, and I think I talk enough about how awesome Black Widows are. ;) Honesty, I find the term overused, over amplified, and generally misunderstood in the coloring community. I should do a whole show on it.
I adore black widow pencils, I have all the sets except this one. I'm looking at this and thinking. I'm certain I already have like 60% of these already. Add to the fact these pencils layer beautifully, as much as I love seeing this set. I can't justify getting it. I want it out of fomo and no other reason. Which I feel is quite offensive, since these pencils quality do not need such theatrics.
I really don't understand the issue here. Not one set of BWs is or ever was meant to stand alone, and you speak as if they were. This is meant to be a 180 set of pencils. Who cares about the individual sets, or what the tins look like? I organized my entire 180 set into color order, and the tins went STRAIGHT into the recycling bin. That's what Albert designed these for. We just invested in a little portion of the set at a time, and it was lovely to have them organized like that. Financially, it made perfect sense for many of us. I dont know anyone who still keeps or works with those sets individually!! It just seemed as if you were hanging on the Dragon set as if it couldn't stand alone, for a colorist. It wasn't MEANT to!! You now have finalized your set of 180... and IMHO, THAT is the way they should have been reviewed.
I've had my first set (Scorpion) of Black Widows now for about 3 weeks and have been using them extensively. I have not had a broken lead once. Not once. I'm sorry, Prismacolor, but you're going to get retired.
I only bought the dragon set just for my daughter because of the tin. She loves dragons and colorings of course. Even after finally getting the set, I had to open it up to look into them because the tin was badly damaged, the trays were warped that it kept popping out of the tin. And some of the pencils were off centered. I was told by Albert to return it back to Amazon and get a replacement. To be honest, I am super wishing I didn't send them back because the set was supposed to be Christmas present/surprise for my daughter, and that was two weeks ago since I requested a replacement. It wont be coming in until February. I'm very upset with Amazon with the way they're handling orders. I know Albert has no controls over how things goes with Amazon. Just super pissed that she wont be getting her surprise that she asked Santa Claus for what she wants this year. 😢 and I dont know what to do bow because I dont want her to be upset or mad at Santa for not granting her wish.
Oh no... what a sad story. Amazon is definitely struggling with some things these days. They just had a giant warehouse blown away by a tornado, among other stuff. It will be well worth it when you get a nice version of the set.

Actually it’s not amazons fault at all that there aren’t any dragon pencil sets to ship until next year 🤦🏽♀️ They cannot ship what they do not have. Look on eBay or other online markets.

The point is that they should've taken precautions when packaging such delicate orders as these instead of just shoving them in PAPER envelope and for the driver/delivery person to just causally toss them down to cause furthermore damages to the orders. That's where I blame Amazon on and for, personally I understand the time frame that's fine. It's the cares that should be put in more instead of just "pfffft, why should the workers care about the order because it's not theirs, blah blah etc etc."
And plus, I have a video shown how "well" taken care of the order being delivered on mine. Feel free to take a gander to watch. That's the main reason I blame Amazon for @Uptown
I swear u are paid...the dragon set doesn't have the same great formula as the older sets...those pencils are extremely ashy, patchy and dry...cannot even layer or blend them at all
I wish. :P I am not paid. I'm sorry your experience has been different. I only report on what I personally observe. I have no horse in this race. Consider also that this video is over two years old. I can't speak for the formula of these pencils today.

I heard a rumor that the first three sets may be discontinued soon. If that's the case, there will definitely be new sets in our future.

I think there is no black in this set because there is black in another set….none are supposed to be duplicates…:)

Hahahaha, that's exactly what happened to me. Prismacolor used to be my favorite, and ever since I got BW, I hardly ever touch PC.

Even after finally getting the set, I had to open it up to look into them because the tin was badly damaged, the trays were warped that it kept popping out of the tin. And some of the pencils were off centered. I was told by Albert to return it back to Amazon and get a replacement. To be honest, I am super wishing I didn't send them back because the set was supposed to be Christmas present/surprise for my daughter, and that was two weeks ago since I requested a replacement. It wont be coming in until February. I'm very upset with Amazon with the way they're handling orders. I know Albert has no controls over how things goes with Amazon. Just super pissed that she wont be getting her surprise that she asked Santa Claus for what she wants this year. 😢 and I dont know what to do bow because I dont want her to be upset or mad at Santa for not granting her wish.
Oh no... what a sad story. Amazon is definitely struggling with some things these days. They just had a giant warehouse blown away by a tornado, among other stuff. It will be well worth it when you get a nice version of the set.
@@its-easy-to-draw Yea, I saw and heard about that. Am praying for all over there. Currently experiencing a heavy storm over here in California right now. And you're right, I am hoping the wait is well worth it because I am trying to figure out what is the next best thing to get in its place while waiting lol. Any suggestions?
Actually it’s not amazons fault at all that there aren’t any dragon pencil sets to ship until next year 🤦🏽♀️ They cannot ship what they do not have. Look on eBay or other online markets.
@@KitKatToeBeans that's not the point. The point is that they should've taken precautions when packaging such delicate orders as these instead of just shoving them in PAPER envelope and for the driver/delivery person to just causally toss them down to cause furthermore damages to the orders. That's where I blame Amazon on and for, personally I understand the time frame that's fine. It's the cares that should be put in more instead of just "pfffft, why should the workers care about the order because it's not theirs, blah blah etc etc."
And plus, I have a video shown how "well" taken care of the order being delivered on mine. Feel free to take a gander to watch. That's the main reason I blame Amazon for @Uptown
I swear u are paid...the dragon set doesn't have the same great formula as the older sets...those pencils are extremely ashy, patchy and dry...cannot even layer or blend them at all
I wish. :P I am not paid. I'm sorry your experience has been different. I only report on what I personally observe. I have no horse in this race. Consider also that this video is over two years old. I can't speak for the formula of these pencils today.
