United Food Bank Garden - First 60 Days

In October, 2021 United Food Bank teamed up with Urban Farming Education on an organic community garden at their Volunteer Center in Mesa, AZ.
Volunteers built raised beds and a ready go garden bag system along with a timed irrigation system to ensure success.
We planted both vegetable seeds and transplants, as well as flowers to attract pollinators. We even added two varieties of milkweed to make this garden an official monarch butterfly waystation.
The garden is thriving! Just 23 days after planting, we began harvesting many bags of fresh veggies. We've had 3 major harvests in just the first two months since installation. And all of this food goes right back into the community.
This garden offers an great way for the community to learn about and practice sustainably growing their own healthy food.
